1. I remembered her words and calm down.(NMET'00)根据上文中的 remembered 得知时间是在过去,所以 calm 的时态应与上文保持一致,应该改为 calmed。

例2.Time passes quickly. Evening came.

1.Now my picture and the prize is hanging in the library.(NMET'00)my picture and the prize是复数,其谓语也应该用复数。

这里的is 应改为are。

例 2.Their word were a great encouragement to me.(NMET'03)此句的主语word与谓语明显不一致,应将 word改为words.

Carefully plan your study, set clear goals and balance your schoolwork with other activities. As a senior high school student, you must make efforts to improve your communication and problem-solving skills. Last but not least, always look on the bright side and never lose hope, even in difficult situations. In time you will find yourself growing into a well-rounded individual. As Lao-Tzu wisely said, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” You need to make a continuous effort to train your mind and develop your character. Be confident, do your best and make us proud!Extended readingJohn Li, a Chinese senior high school student, has spent a year studying in the UK. Read his article in the school magazine about his school life abroad.\Last year, I had the chance to study at a British secondary school as an exchange student. I stayed with a lovely host family and went to school with their son, Daniel. We were both in year ten and we got on well. He is learning Chinese and will come to stay with me this year in China! The British school day begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. Students usually have to learn nine subjects at secondary school. Every student in the UK must study English, Maths and the Science subjects: Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Students can also choose to study other subjects, such as History, Art and Business. The classes are different from those in China. Each teacher has their own classroom and the students move around for every lesson. In most of my classes, there were only about 20 students. In the beginning, however, it was still tough for me to remember everyone’s name!I enjoyed most of the classes, but some of them were quite challenging. Technology classes were fun. I made a clock to take home. The teacher helped me put the parts together. I like it so much that I still use it as my alarm! I found Maths quite easy and enjoyable because the material was less advanced in the UK than in China. However, learning in English was a great challenge for me. There were a lot of difficult English words, especially in Geography and Biology. Class discussion is very important in the UK, but I could not make a great contribution because sometimes I wasn’t able to express myself clearly in English. Although there was not as much homework as I was used to, it was still challenging. Fortunately, my teachers and classmates were always helpful and gave me lots of encouragement. My language skills improved over time.During the hour-long lunchtime, I ate in the school dining hall. There were lots of options including bread and butter, chicken pie and puddings, but I still missed my mum’s cooking! After lunch, I often played on the school’s huge sports field with Daniel and his friends. Sometimes we just relaxed under a tree or sat on the grass. After school, there were many clubs to join. The one that attracted me most was the Rugby Club. We played once a week, and it was great fun. Also, I enjoyed acting in the Theatre Club. I still have photos of myself acting in William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Joining clubs was a great way to meet British students and make friends with them.I am glad to have the opportunity to experience this different way of life. I met some great people and learnt a lot about school life in the UK. Daniel and his family were fantastic hosts, and his friends were very nice as well. I can’t wait for Daniel to visit China!TranslationUnit 1 Back to schoolReading发挥你的潜能大家好!

No matter how bad my mood is, that perfect combination is always enough to lift my spirits. Sometimes the smell alone can do the trick, not to mention the lovely creamy flavour, which works like a time machine immediately transporting me back to my sunny childhood. With pleasure,I remember the lazy Sunday afternoons I used to spend in the warmth of my grandma’s flat, listening to her wonderful stories and greedily eating bowl after bowl of her delicious rice pudding. I take my time over every spoonful, gently rolling the silky dessert around my mouth and enjoying the perfect marriage of rice and milk. Unit 1 Our living planetGrammar and composition p6Inversion 倒装A Exploring the rulesBelow is an article from a science website about the changing lengths of days and years.Find the sentences that use inversion and fill in the box below. The first one has been done for you.

Seldom do we doubt that a day is 24 hours long and that a year consists of 365 days (well, a little more actually, which is why we have leap years). These timings are based on the Earth's planetary motions. It takes the Earth a day to spin once on its axis and a year to make one complete circular movement around the Sun. However, would it surprise you to learn that scientists have found evidence that this has not always been the case?Under the oceans lies the hidden evidence for the changing lengths of days and years. Ancient corals, just like tree trunks, show distinct growth rings, and by counting these rings, it is possible for scientists to calculate the number of days in a year, many millions of years ago. Here is an example. By studying corals that were over 400 millions years old, scientists estimate that an earth year was 420 days long back then. Similarly, tidal records laid down in ancient river mouths also reveal different lengths of days and years in the past. Examining the daily, monthly and seasonal cycles of these tidal records lets scientists know the number of days in previous years. They indicate, for instance, that 620 million years ago the day was possibly 3 hours shorter than it is today.Based on all this evidence, not only do scientists conclude that the lengths of days and years have changed in past eras, they also predict that days will get longer in the future. So, one day, the expression 24/7 may well have to be replaced with the revised expression,25/7!

Instead of saying “I want to lose three kilos”, I would say “I want to run two kilometers in eight minute” or “I want to be able to do 30 push-ups”. Rather than cutting out the food that I enjoy it, I added healthy foods to my meals. I could still have a burger now or then, but I would add a salad or an apple. Finally, I stopped comparing me with actresses and models and looking for things that was wrong with my face or body.课文改编短文改错unit 4(一)For several days, a series of strange things were happening in Hebei.
