一字之差，可能就会给雇主带来百万千万的损失，译者进而会惹得官司上身，因此，提高翻译工作者的专业素养显得尤为重要。
一、数字的翻译在合同的标的及报价等当中都会出现很关键的数字，对这些数字的准确翻译至关重要。
下面谈一下数字翻译应注意的两个方面的问题：首先，英汉对数字的分位制不同。
中国数字是“个、十、百、千”、“万、十万、百万、千万”、“亿、十亿、百亿、千亿”等以四位数分位，而英语则以三位数来分位的，即“个、十、百”、“千、十千、百千”、“百万、十百万、百百万”，最后落脚点都在“百”上。
如：888，888．其次，中英命数的方法不同。
英语当中没有“万”“亿”的命数，而中文中不以英语中的“million”“billion”来命数，这就给翻译带来困难。
同时，英美的命数也有差异：“billion”在美国是“十亿”，在英国是“一兆（万亿）”，美国则用“trillion”指“一兆（万亿）”.数字的译法：28,462,679 “twenty-eight million, four hundred and sixty-two thousand, six hundred and seventy-nine”；50亿five billion（美国）five thousand million(英国)等等。
二、倍数的翻译在商务建议书及商务报告等当中都会出现很关键的倍数，对这些倍数的准确翻译至关重要。

一、数词的实指 商务英语中实指数据大量出现,尤其是在表述商品的价格,规格,运送日 期等信息的时候。在翻译过程中对此类数字宜保留,采取镜像式的一对 一直接翻译。另外，在英汉数词习语中，数量词有实指义和虚指义之 分。实指义是指数词本身的意义，因此我们在翻译时应采取的方法是： 保留数字，直接翻译。

二、数词的虚指 作为社会文化的产物,语言有着深刻的社会内涵,同样语言中数 字并不只是起到计算功能。很多时候数字并不代表它本身的具体的目, 而是一种脱离了数字实指的文化意义。商务英语中也不乏具有夸张、 强调或比喻等修辞功能,起到渲染气氛效果的数字表达,尤其在文学色 彩较浓的行文,如商业演讲词、广告词,或者非正式的谈话中,因为在 此类对话中会使用一定的习语和典故。对此类数字的处理方式比较灵 活,需要在仔细对照分析原文和目的语的用法基础上,选择适当译法。
