Summary
Short fiber optic cables present many challenges that must be overcome in order to accurately detect fiber damage using OTDR. Pulse durations shorter than 1 microsecond, and Angled Physical Contact (APC) fiber connectors are recommended to provide the greatest reduction in Fresnel reflection. By performing OTDR simulations, an optical systems engineer could understand the behavior of a fiber network and detect potential problems before actual production.

Conclusion Although DR is the conventional means of ankle trauma examination, it is very difficult to diagnose ankle and foot injuries, especially occult fracture or fracture displacement, because of the ankle’s complex anatomical structure, and the overlapping structure of DR imaging. On the other hand, the postprocessing and reconstruction of CT provides the clinicians with a better visualization tool for more accurate diagnosis of the fracture. It makes it easier for diagnosis, especially in occult fracture or subtle fracture displacement, treatment planning and evaluation purposes. Therefore 16-slice spiral CT has a clear advantage over 2D DR in the diagnosis of subtle ankle and foot fracture, treatment and evaluation purposes in the clinical settty-three patients (male, female) patients who had injuries of ankle and foot accepted examination of digital radiography (DR) following 16-slice spiral CT scaning and image postprocessing reconstruction.Then the last results gianed by CT were compared with the examination of digital radiography. The following DR images were acquired using the Toshiba DR, on the ankle joint: antero-posterior, lateral and oblique views; on the foot: antero-posterior and oblique views; and on the calcaneal: lateral and axial views. 16-sliced spiral CT (Toshiba Aquillion 16) was performed with the following variables: pitch: 0.938, 120 kV, 50mAs, scanning with 0.5mm reconstruction. The data was transferred to the Vitrea workstation for post-processing and reconstruction, using multiple planar reconstruction (MRP), 3D volume rendering (VR) features, to generate the 2D images and 3D model. A senior radiologist and a doctor of Orthopedics Department compared with plain X-ray and CT image, and observed fracture line, bone fragments position, joint alignment and surrounding soft tissue injury, through the CT 3D image,so as to further clarify the diagnosis.
