And anyone who watches them regularly knows that each one varies in style and format. But no two shows are more profoundly opposite in content, while at the same time standing out above the rest, than the Jerry Springer and the Oprah Winfrey shows. Jerry Springer could easily be considered the king of "trash talk (废话)". The topics on his show are as shocking as shocking can be. For example, the show takes the ever-common talk show themes of love, sex, cheating, guilt, hate, conflict and morality to a different level. Clearly, the Jerry Springer show is a display and exploitation of society's moral catastrophes (灾难), yet people are willing to eat up the intriguing predicaments (困境) of other people's lives. Like Jerry Springer, Oprah Winfrey takes TV talk show to its extreme, but Oprah goes in the opposite direction. The show focuses on the improvement of society and an individual's quality of life. Topics range from teaching your children responsibility, managing your work week, to getting to know your neighbors.Compared to Oprah, the Jerry Springer show looks like poisonous waste being dumped on society. Jerry ends every show with a "final word". He makes a small speech that sums up the entire moral of the show. Hopefully, this is the part where most people will learn something very valuable.Clean as it is, the Oprah show is not for everyone. The show's main target audience are middle-class Americans. Most of these people have the time, money, and stability to deal with life's tougher problems. Jerry Springer, on the other hand, has more of an association with the young adults of society. These are 18- to 21-year-olds whose main troubles in life involve love, relationship, sex, money and peers. They are the ones who see some value and lessons to be learned underneath the show's exploitation. While the two shows are as different as night and day, both have ruled the talk show circuit for many years now. Each one caters to a different audience whileboth have a strong following from large groups of fans. Ironically, both could also be considered pioneers in the talk show world.31.Compared with other TV talk shows, both the Jerry Springer and the Oprah Winfrey are _________ .A) more family-orientedB) unusually popularC) more profoundD) relatively formal正确答案:C32.Though the social problems Jerry Springer talks about appear distasteful, the audience _________ .A) remain fascinated by themB) are ready to face up to themC) remain indifferent to themD) are willing to get involved in them正确答案:A33.Which of the following is likely to be a topic of the Oprah Winfrey show?A) A new type of robot.B) Racist hatred.C) Family budget planning.D) Street violence.正确答案:C34.Despite their differences, the two talk shows are both _______ .A) ironicalB) sensitiveC) instructiveD) cynical正确答案:B35.We can learn from the passage that the two talk shows __________ .A) have monopolized the talk show circuitB) exploit the weaknesses in human natureC) appear at different times of the dayD) are targeted at different audiences正确答案:DPassage Two Questions 36 to 40 are based on the following passage.Helen Admas Keller (1880 —1968), is an outstanding example of a person who conquered physical disabilities. A serious illness, which her doctor called "acute congestion of the stomach and brain," destroyed her sight and hearing at the age of about one. For almost five years, she grew up, as she later said, "wild and unruly, giggling and chuckling to express pleasure; kicking, scratching, uttering the choked screams of the deaf-mute to indicate the opposite." Then Helen's father took her to Alexander Graham Bell. He advised Keller to write to the Perkins Institution for the Blind in Boston. Shortly before the child was 7, Anne Sullivan arrived from Boston to teach her, who remained with Helen Keller until her death. Then Mary Agnes "Polly" Thomson, who had been Keller's secretary, took Sullivan's place.First she learned to write. Sullivan was able to make contact with thegirl's mind through the sense of touch. Gradually, the child was able to connect words with objects. Once she understood, her progress was rapid. Then she learned to speak. Until she was 10 years old, Keller could talk only with the sign language of the deaf-mute. She decided she would learn to speak and took lessons from a teacher of the deaf. By the time she was 16, she could communicate well enough to go to preparatory school and to college. Finally she helped others. After college, Keller became concerned with the conditions of the blind and the deaf-blind. She became active on the staffs of the American Foundation for the blind and of the American Foundation for overseas Blind. In her later years, she became especially interested in bettering the conditions for the blind in developing and war-ravaged countries. An enthusiastic and untiring traveler, she lectured on their behalf in more than 25 countries on every continent except Antarctica.Keller received many awards of great distinction. Each choice in the bank is identified by a letter. You may not use any of the words in the bank more than once.Does good teamwork require good relationships between team members? Below is an example that seems to 21 that myth.In 1998, the main striking partnership of Manchester United was Andy Cole and Teddy Sheringham. These two had primary 22 for scoring goals. To do so against good opposition required a great deal of cooperation between them.During a game at Bolton, an incident occurred that caused a complete 23 in their relationship. When Bolton scored, Sheringham 24 Cole for it, and Cole then refused to talk to him.The breakdown in relationship was never 25 , and reputedly they never spoke again. In the following season (1998-1999) Andy Cole and Teddy Sheringham continued as the main striking partnership, supported by other players. They continued to play gamesand 26 on the pitch, but off the field they didn't speak.During that season, Manchester United achieved a unique treble that no British club had ever achieved. They won:The Premiership LeagueThe FA CupThe European Cup (the biggest club football prize in Europe)Cole and Sheringham continued to play together during the next season as well, that is 1999-2000. During that time, with Cole and Sheringham as the main striking partnership, Manchester United set up two Premiership League records:They reached 50 goals in just 19 gamesThey scored a total of 97 goals in the seasonHere we have two people whose relationship was allegedly so bad that they hadn't spoken to each other for over a year. Yet, despite the off-field 27 between them, their cooperation on the field was excellent and they made a significant contribution to, arguably, ManchesterUnited's most successful season ever. This may be an 28 example, but it 29 the principle that personal liking, ora 30 relationship, are not essential for good teamwork. Each passage is followed by some questions or unfinished statements. For each of them there are four choices marked A), B), C) and D). You should decide on the best choice.Passage OneQuestions 31 to 35 are based on the following passage. You may be all these things at the office, and more. But when it comes to getting ahead, experts say, the ABCs of business should include a P, for politics, as in office politics.Dale Carnegie suggested as much more than 50 years ago: Hard work alone doesn't ensure career advancement. You have to be able to sell yourself and your ideas, both publicly and behind the scenes. Yet, despite the obvious rewards of engaging in office politics — a better job, a raise, praise — many people are still unable — or unwilling — to "play the game.""People assume that office politics involves some manipulative (工于心计的) behavior,"says Deborah Comer, an assistant professor of management at Hofstra University. "But politics derives from the word 'polite'. It can mean lobbying and forming associations. It can mean being kind and helpful, or even trying to please your superior, and then expecting something in return."In fact, today, experts define office politics as proper behavior used to pursue one's own self-interest in the workplace. In many cases, this involves some form of socializing within the office environment — not just in large companies, but in small workplaces as well."The first thing people are usually judged on is their ability to perform well on a consistent basis," says Neil P. Lewis, a management psychologist. "But if two or three candidates are up fora promotion, each of whom has reasonably similar ability, a manager is going to promote theperson he or she likes best. It's simple human nature."Yet, psychologists say, many employees and employers have trouble with the concept of politics in the office. Some people, they say, have an idealistic vision of work and what it takes to succeed. Still others associate politics with flattery (奉承), fearful that, if they speak up for themselves, they may appear to be flattering their boss for favors.Experts suggest altering this negative picture by recognizing the need for someself-promotion.31. Why are many people unwilling to "play the game" (underlined part in Para.2)?A) They believe that doing so is impractical.B) They feel that such behavior is unprincipled.C) They are not good at manipulating colleagues.D) They think the effort will get them nowhere.正确答案:B学生答案:D得分:0分32. To get promoted, one must not only be competent but _______.A) give his boss a good impressionB) honest and loyal to his companyC) get along well with his colleaguesD) avoid being too outstanding正确答案:A学生答案:B得分:0分33. "Office politics" (the underlined part in Para.4) is used in the passage to refer to _______.A) the code of behavior for company staffB) the political views and beliefs of office workersC) the interpersonal relationships within a companyD) the various qualities required for a successful career正确答案:C学生答案:B得分:0分34. The author considers office politics to be ______.A) unwelcome at the workplaceB) bad for interpersonal relationshipsC) indispensable to the development of company cultureD) an important factor for personal advancement正确答案:D学生答案:D得分:2分35. It is the author's view that ____.A) speaking up for oneself is part of human natureB) self-promotion does not necessarily mean flatteryC) hard work contributes very little to one's promotionD) many employees fail to recognize the need of flattery正确答案:B学生答案:D得分:0分Passage TwoQuestions 36 to 40 are based on the following passage. If you know exactly what you want, the best route to a job is to get specialized training. A recent survey shows that companies prefer the graduates in such fields as business and health care who can go to work immediately with very little on-the-job training. That's especially true of booing fields that are challenging for workers. At Cornell's School of Hotel Administration, for example, bachelor's degree graduates get an average of four or five job offers with salaries ranging from the high teens to the low 20's and plenty of chances for rapid advancement. Large companies, especially, like a background of formal education coupled with work experience. But in the long run, too much specialization doesn't pay off. Business, which has been flooded with MBAs, no longer considers the degree an automatic stamp of approval. The MBA may open doors and command a higher salary initially, but the impact of a degree washes out after five years. As further evidence of the erosion (销蚀) of corporate (公司的) faith in specialized degrees, Michigan State's Scheetz cites a pattern in corporate hiring practices: although companies tend to take on specialists as new hires, they often seek out generalists for middle and upper-level management. "They want someone who isn't constrained (限制) by nuts and bolts to look at the big picture," says Scheetz. His words sound suspiciously like a formal statement that corporations approve of the liberal-arts graduates. Time and again labor-market analysts mention a need for talents that liberal-arts majors are assumed to have: writing and communication skills, organizational skills, open-mindedness and adaptibility, and the ability to analyze and solve problems. David Birch claims he does not hire anybody with an MBA or an engineering degree. "I hire only liberal-arts people because they have a less-than-canned way of doing things," says Birch. Liberal-arts means an academically thorough and strict program that includes literature, history, mathematics, economics, science, human behavior — plus a computer course or two. With that under your belt, you can feel free to specialize. "A liberal-arts degree coupled with an MBA or some other technical training is a very good combination in the marketplace," says Scheetz.36. What kinds of people are in high demand on the job market?A) Students with a bachelor's degree in science.B) People with an MBA degree from top universities.C) People with formal schooling plus work experience.D) People with special training in engineering.正确答案:C学生答案:C得分:2分37. By saying "...but the impact of a degree washes out after five years" (underlined part inPara.3), the author means ________.A) most MBA programs fail to provide students with a solid foundationB) an MBA degree does not help promote to managerial positionsC) MBA programs will not be as popular in five years' time as they are nowD) in five years people will forget about the degree the MBA graduates have got正确答案:B学生答案:C得分:0分38. Walkman is 25 because it isn't even English. 26 , it was invented by the Japanese 27 who put two simple English words together to name their product. That doesn't bother us, but it does bother the French. Such is the 28 messiness of English. That happy 29 that willingness to accept
French, for example, has only about 75,000 words, and that includes English expressions like snack bar and hit parade. The French, however, do not like borrowing foreign words because they think it 23 their language. The government tries to ban words from English and declares that Walkman is not 24 ; so they invent a word, balladeur, which French kids are supposed to say instead — but they don't.

Each passage is followed by some questions or unfinished statements. For each of them there are four choices marked A), B), C) and D). You should decide on the best choice.Passage OneQuestions 31 to 35 are based on the following passage.Pronouncing a language is a skill. Every normal person is expert in the skill of pronouncing his own language; but few people are even moderately proficient in pronouncing foreign languages. Now there are many reasons for this, some obvious, some perhaps not so obvious. But I suggest that the fundamental reason why people in general do not speak foreign languages much better than they do is that they fail to grasp the true nature of the problem of learning to pronounce, and consequently never set about tackling it in the right way. Far too many people fail to realize that pronouncing a foreign language is a skill —one that needs careful training of a special kind, and one that cannot be acquired by just leaving it to take care of itself. I think even teachers of language, while recognizing the importance of good accent, tend to neglect, in their practical teaching, the branch of study concerned with speaking the language. So the first point I want to make is that English pronunciation must be taught; the teacher should be prepared to devote some of the lesson time to this, and his whole attitude to the subject should get the student to feel that there is a matter worthy of receiving his close attention. So, there should be occasions when other aspects of English, such as grammar or spelling, are allowed for the moment to take second place.Apart from the question of the time given to pronunciation, there are two other requirements for the teacher: the first, knowledge; the second, technique. It is important that the teacher should be in possession of the necessary information. This can generally be obtained from books. It is possible to get from books some ideas of the mechanics of speech, and of what we call general phonetic theory. It is also possible in this way to get a clear mental picture of the relationship between the sounds of different languages, between the speech habits of English people and those, say, of your students. Unless the teacher has such a picture, any comments he makes on his students' pronunciation are unlikely to be of much use, and lesson time spent on pronunciation may well be time wasted.31.What does the author actually say about pronouncing foreign languages?A)There aren't many people who are even fairly good at it.B)Only a few people are really proficient.C)No one is really an expert in the skill.D)There are even some people who are moderately proficient.正确答案: C32.The author argues that going about the problem of pronunciation in the wrong way is __________ .A)an obvious cause of not grasping the problem correctlyB) a consequence of not grasping the problem correctlyC) a fundamental consequence of not speaking wellD)not an obvious cause of speaking poorly正确答案: C33.The best way of learning to speak a foreign language, the author suggests, is byA)picking it up naturally as a childB)learning from a native speakerC)undertaking systematic workD)not concentrating on pronunciation much正确答案: C 34.The value the student puts on correct speech habits depends on _______A)how closely he attends to the matterB)whether it is English that is being taughtC)his teacher's approach to pronunciationD)the importance normally given to grammar and spelling 正确答案: C35.How might the teacher find himself wasting lesson time?A)By making ill-informed comments upon pronunciation.B)By spending lesson time on pronunciation.C)By not using books on phonetics in the classroom.D)By not giving students a clear mental picture of the differences betweensounds.正确答案: DPassage Two Questions 36 to 40 are based on the following passage. In the world of entertainment, TV talk shows have undoubtedly flooded every inch of space on daytime television. Each one caters to a different audience while both have a strong following from large groups of fans. Ironically, both could also be considered pioneers in the talk show world.36.Compared with other TV talk shows, both the Jerry Springer and the Oprah Winfrey are _________ .A)more family-orientedB)unusually popularC)more profoundD)relatively formal正确答案: C37.Though the social problems Jerry Springer talks about appear distasteful, the audience ___________ .A)remain fascinated by themB)are ready to face up to themC)remain indifferent to themD)are willing to get involved in them正确答案: A38.Which of the following is likely to be a topic of the Oprah Winfrey show?A) A new type of robot.B)Racist hatred.C)Family budget planning.D)Street violence.正确答案: C39.Despite their differences, the two talk shows are both ____ .A)ironicalB)sensitiveC)instructiveD)cynical正确答案: B40.We can learn from the passage that the two talk shows __________ .A)have monopolized the talk show circuitB)exploit the weaknesses in human natureC)appear at different times of the dayD)are targeted at different audiences正确答案: DPart III Vocabulary and Structure ( 10 minutes )Directions: There are a number of incomplete sentences in this part. Each one caters to a different audience while both have a strong following from large groups of fans. Ironically, both could also be considered pioneers in the talk show world.31.Compared with other TV talk shows, both the Jerry Springer and the Oprah Winfrey are __________.A) more family-orientedB) unusually popularC) more profoundD) relatively formal正确答案:C32.Though the social problems Jerry Springer talks about appear distasteful, the audience __________.A) remain fascinated by themB) are ready to face up to themC) remain indifferent to themD) are willing to get involved in them正确答案:A33.Which of the following is likely to be a topic of the Oprah Winfrey show?A) A new type of robot.B) Racist hatred.C) Family budget planning.D) Street violence.正确答案:C34.Despite their differences, the two talk shows are both _________.A) ironicalB) sensitiveC) instructiveD) cynical正确答案:B35.We can learn from the passage that the two talk shows ____________.A) have monopolized the talk show circuitB) exploit the weaknesses in human natureC) appear at different times of the dayD) are targeted at different audiences正确答案:DPassage TwoQuestions 36 to 40 are based on the following passage.Helen Admas Keller (1880 —1968), is an outstanding example of a person who conquered physical disabilities. Sullivan was able to make contact with the girl's mind through the sense of touch. They include the Chevalier's ribbon of the French Legion of Honor, the Alumni Achievement Award of Radcliffe College, and decorations from many governments.36.What caused Helen Keller's losing sight and hearing?A) A car accident.B) A serious illness.C) It was caused when Helen Keller's mother was pregnant.D) It just happened, no one knew the reason.正确答案:B37.For several years before Sullivan came, ______.A) Helen had to express herself in simple wordsB) Helen had been a wild and unruly little girlC) no one took care of Helen's studyD) Helen had been unable to make any sound正确答案:B38.At the age of ten, Helen _______.A) had learned to speak a little bitB) could communicate well enoughC) began to go to schoolD) decide to learn to speak正确答案:D39.Which of the following is NOT TRUE according to the passage?A) Helen graduated from college when she was only 20.B) Helen devoted herself to the welfare of the blind and the deaf-blind.C) Helen called on wealthy people to give financial support to the disabled.D) Helen traveled around the world to give lectures.正确答案:C40.What can be inferred from the passage?A) Helen Keller owed her success to her strong character.B) Helen Keller has become a symbol of courage for many people.C) Helen Keller was an active worker for the poor people.D) The disabled will remember Helen Keller forever.正确答案:BPart III Vocabulary and Structure ( 10 minutes )Directions: There are a number of incomplete sentences in this part. In a special school for the hearing-impaired, he learned sign language and got to mix with other disabled children. However, the sight of all the disabled children communicating with one another upset his mother. She wanted him to lead a normal life. So after speaking to an advisor, she sent him to private classes where he learned to read lips and pronounce words.Later on, Adrian's parents decided to send him to a regular school. But the headmaster tried to prevent them from doing so; saying regular school couldn't take care of special needs students. His parents were determined to take the risk and push him hard to go through his work everyday because they wanted to prove that, given the opportunity, he could do anything. Adrian made the grade and got accepted. It was a big challenge. The pace was faster so he had to sit at the front of the class and really pay attention to the teacher, which wasn't always easy. More than 135,000 demonstrators confronted police on the construction site of a 1,000-megawatt nuclear power plant scheduled to provide power to most of southern New Hampshire. Organizers of the huge demonstration said, the protest was continuing despite the police actions. More demonstrators were arriving to keep up the pressure on state authorities to cancel the project. The demonstrator had charged that the project was unsafe in the densely populated area, which would create thermal pollution in the bay, and had no acceptable means for disposing of its radioactive wasters. The demonstrations would go on until the jails and the courts were so overloaded that the state judicial system would collapse.Governor Stanforth Thumper insisted that there would be no reconsideration of the power project and no delay in its construction set for completion in three years. "This project will begin on time and the people of this state will begin to receive its benefits on schedule. Those who break the law in misguided attempts to sabotage the project will be dealt with according to the law," he said. And police called in reinforcements from all over the state to handle the disturbances. The protests began before dawn Friday when several thousand demonstrators broke through police lines around the cordoned-off construction site. They carried placards that read "No Nukes is Good Nukes," "Sunpower, Not Nuclear Power," and "Stop Private Profits from Public Peril." They defied police order to move from the area. Tear gas canisters fired by police failed to dislodge the protestors who had come prepared with their own gas masks or facecloths. Finally gas-masked and helmeted police charged into the crowd to drag off the demonstrators one by one. The protestors did not resist police, but refused to walk away under their own power. Those arrested would be charged with unlawful assembly, trespassing, and disturbing the peace.36.The demonstrators were protesting for ____.A) private profitsB) nuclear power stationC) the project of nuclear power constructionD) public peril正确答案:C37.____wore gas-masks.A) EverybodyB) A part of the protestorsC) PolicemenD) Both B and C正确答案:D38.Which of the following was NOT mentioned as a reason for the demonstration?A) Disposal of wastes.B) Public peril.C) Pollution.D) Public transportation.正确答案:D39.Why would the state judicial system collapse?A) Because the state judicial system itself was too fragile.B) Because the court and jail were too crowded to accommodate those arrested demonstrators.C) Because the demonstrators wanted to abolish the current state judicial system.D) Because the state authority wanted to abolish it and set up a new one.正确答案:B40.What is the attitude of Governor Stanforth Thumper toward the power project?A) Stubborn.B) Insistent.C) Insolvable.D) Remissible.正确答案:APart III Vocabulary and Structure ( 10 minutes )Directions: There are a number of incomplete sentences in this part. In such a case, it is usually settled in the consumer's favor, assuming he or she has a just claim.Consumers should complain in person whenever possible, but if they cannot get to the place of purchase, it is acceptable to phone or write the complaint in a letter.Complaining is usually most effective when it is done politely but firmly, and especially when the consumer can demonstrate what is wrong with the item in question. If this cannot be done, the consumer will succeed best by presenting specific information as to what is wrong, rather than by making general statements. For example, "The left speaker does not work at all and the sound coming out of the right one is unclear" is better than "This stereo does not work."The store manager may advise the consumer to write to the manufacturer. If so, the consumer should do this, stating the complaint as politely and as firmly as possible. But if a polite complaint does not achieve the desired result, the consumer can go a step further. She or he can threaten to take the seller to court or report the seller to a private or public organization responsible for protecting consumers' rights.31.When a consumer finds that his or her in it, the first thing he or she should do is to ____.A) complain personally to the managerB) threaten to take the seller to courtC) write a firm letter of complaint to the store of purchaseD) show some written proof of the purchase to the store正确答案:D32.How can a consumer make his or her complaint more effective, according to the passage?A) Explain exactly what is wrong with the item.B) Threaten to take the seller to court.C) Make polite and general statements about the problem.D) Avoid having direct contact with the store manager.正确答案:A33.According to the passage, which of the following is suggested as the last alternative that consumers may turn to?A) Complain to the store manager in person.B) Complain to the manufacturer.C) Write a complaint letter to the manager.D) Turn to the Consumers’ Rights Protection Organization for help.正确答案:D34.The phrase "live up to" (in Para.1) in this context means ____.A) meeting the standard ofB) realizing the purpose ofC) fulfilling the demands ofD) keeping the promise of正确答案:A35.The passage tells us ____.A) how to settle a consumer’s complaint about a faulty itemB) how to make an effective complaint about a faulty itemC) how to avoid buying a faulty itemD) how to deal with complaints from customers正确答案:BPassage TwoQuestions 36 to 40 are based on the following passage.Taste is such a subjective matter that we don't usually conduct preference tests for food. The most you can say about anyone's preference is that it's one person's opinion. But because the two big cola companies —Coca-Cola and Pepsi Cola are marketed so aggressively, we've wondered how big a role taste preference actually plays in brand loyalty. We set up a taste test that challenged people who identified themselves as either Coca-Cola or Pepsi fans: Find your brand in a blind tasting. We invited staff volunteers who had a strong liking for either Coca-Cola Classic or Pepsi, Diet Coke, or Diet Pepsi. These were people who thought they'd have no trouble telling their brand from the other brand. We eventually located 19 regular cola drinkers and 27 diet cola drinkers. Then we fed them four unidentified samples of cola one at a time, regular colas for the one group, diet versions for the other. We asked them to tell us whether each sample was Coke or Pepsi; then we analyzed the records statistically to compare the participants' choices with what mere guess-work could have accomplished.Getting all four samples right was a tough test, but not too tough, we thought, for people who believed they could recognize their brand. In the end, only 7 out of 19 regular cola drinkers correctly identified their brand of choice in all four trials. The diet-cola drinkers did a little worse —only 7 of 27 identified all four samples correctly. While both groups did better than chance would predict, nearly half the participants in each group made the wrong choice two or more times. Two people got all four samples wrong. Overall, half the participants did about as well on the last round of tasting as on the first, so fatigue, or taste burnout, was not a factor. Our preference test results suggest that only a few Pepsi participants and Coke fans may really be able to tell their favorite brand by taste and price.36.According to the passage the preference test was conducted in order to ________.A) find out the role taste preference plays in a person's drinkingB) reveal which cola is more to the liking of the drinkersC) show that a person's opinion about taste is mere guess-workD) compare the ability of the participants in choosing their drinks正确答案:A37.The statistics recorded in the preference tests show that ________.A) Coca-Cola and Pepsi are people's two most favorite drinksB) there is not much difference in taste between Coca-Cola and PepsiC) few people had trouble telling Coca-Cola from PepsiD) people's tastes differ from one another正确答案:B38.It is implied in the first paragraph that ________.A) the purpose of taste tests is to promote the sale of colasB) the improvement of quality is the chief concern of the two cola companiesC) the competition between the two colas is very strongD) blind tasting is necessary for identifying fans正确答案:C39.The word "burnout" (in Para. 5) refers to the state of ________.A) being seriously burnt in the skinB) being unable to burn for lack of fuelC) being badly damaged by fireD) being unable to function because of excessive use正确答案:D40.The author's purpose in writing this passage is to ________.A) show that taste preference is highly subjectiveB) argue that taste test is an important marketing strategyC) emphasize that taste and price are closely related to each otherD) recommend that blind tasting be introduced in the quality control of colas 正确答案:APart III Vocabulary and Structure ( 10 minutes )Directions: There are a number of incomplete sentences in this part. Those arrested would be charged with unlawful assembly, trespassing, and disturbing the peace.36.The demonstrators were protesting for ____.A) private profitsB) nuclear power stationC) the project of nuclear power constructionD) public peril正确答案:C37.____wore gas-masks.A) EverybodyB) A part of the protestorsC) PolicemenD) Both B and C正确答案:D38.Which of the following was NOT mentioned as a reason for the demonstrationA) Disposal of wastes.B) Public peril.C) Pollution.D) Public transportation.正确答案:D39.Why would the state judicial system collapseA) Because the state judicial system itself was too fragile.B) Because the court and jail were too crowded to accommodate those arrested demonstrators.C) Because the demonstrators wanted to abolish the current state judicial system.D) Because the state authority wanted to abolish it and set up a new one.正确答案:B40.What is the attitude of Governor Stanforth Thumper toward the power projectA) Stubborn.B) Insistent.C) Insolvable.D) Remissible.正确答案:APart III Vocabulary and Structure ( 10 minutes )Directions: There are a number of incomplete sentences in this part. In most cases, this action will produce results. However, if it does not, there are various means the consumer may use to gain satisfaction.A simple and common method used by many consumers is to complain directly to the store manager. In general, the "higher up" the consumer takes his or her complaint, the faster he or she can expect it to be settled.
