东西方文化的融合表现得十分鲜明,意味深长,是篇优秀的演讲。

good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. the title of my speech today is "crossing the sea" . an english poet by the name of rudyard kipling once wrote in this poem "we and they" :all the people like us are weand everyone else is theywe live over the seawhile they live over the waywe eat pork and beef with cow horn-handled knivesthey who gobble their rice off a leafare horrified out of their lives.when these lines first caught my eyes, i was shocked--how could two people remain so isolated and ignorant of each other in the past? today´s society, of course, is an entirely different picture. those people who used to eat with gobble their rice might be as well have taken to fish and chips.indeed, just take china as example; our modern life has been influenced by western style of living in so many ways that it´s no longer surprising to see teenagers going crazy about rock-and-roll, whole families dining out at mc donald´s and even rather elderly people dressed in apple jeans.however, these are only some expressions of the cultural changes taking place in our society today. what is really going on is a subtle but significant restructuring of the nation´s mentalit y. just look around.how many college graduates are ready to compete aggressively for every job opportunity, whereas not long ago they were asked just to sit idle and wait for whatever was to be assigned to them by the government?how many young people are now eager to seek for an independent life whereas only two decades ago they would rely totally on their parents to arrange for their future? ask anyone who participates in today´s speech contest. who has not come with a will to fight and who has not come determined to achieve self-fulfillment in winning the game? and i´m quite certain that if confucius had lived to see today´s china, he would have been horrified to see young lovers kissing each other in public places in an unreserved expression of their passion.it is therefore evident that we as descendants of an ancient eastern civilization are already living under strong influence of the western culture. but it is not only in china that we find the incorporation of the two cultures.take the united states as an example: during the 1980s, in face of the overwhelming competition from japan, many american companies such as the ford began to adopt a teamwork management from their rivals, the essence of which, lay at the very core of eastern culture.take the chinese acupuncture as another example: this traditional treatment of diseases is finally finding its way to the west and hence the underlying notion that illness is resulted from the imbalance between yin and yang within the body--an idea which would strike any westerner as incredible in the past!ladies and gentlemen, we live in a great epoch when the global integration of economy and the information revolution have brought cultures of the world closer than ever before. we live in aparticular era when countries, east and west, find themselves in need of readjusting their traditional values. we live, at the same time, at a critical juncture of our evolution because such problems as ethnic conflicts and regional unrest are increasingly posing a threat to the peace and happiness of the whole human race.to cope with such an era and to embrace an even brighter future, we need to learn to live more harmoniously in a world community which is becoming smaller and smaller. my dear fellow students, our command of the english language render sit possible for us to gain an insight into western culture while retaining our own cultural identity.therefore, it is our sacred responsibility to promote the cultural exchanges and hence the mutual understanding between china and the rest of the world.it is my happiest dream that new generation of chinese will not only grow up drinking coca cola and watching hollywood, but also be blessed with the far-reaching benefits of multiple cultures; benefits that our forefathers had never, ever dreamed of.to end my speech, i would like to quote rudyard kipling again:all the people like us are weand everyone else is theybut once you cross over the seayou will end by looking on weas only a sort of they.thank you.译文:穿越海洋女士们、先生们,晚上好。

It was a hot summer day when I decided to take a road trip with my friends. We packed our bags, filled up the gas tank, and hit the road without a care in the world. The sun was shining, the music was blasting, and we were ready for an adventure. As we drove through the countryside, we couldn't help but admire the beautiful scenery. The rolling hills, the lush green trees, and the clear blue sky made for the perfect backdrop to our journey. We rolled down the windows and let the warm breeze tousle our hair as we sang along to our favorite songs. After a few hours on the road, we arrived at our destination – a stunning beach with golden sand andcrystal clear water. We wasted no time in jumping into the ocean, splashing around and soaking up the sun. It was theperfect way to cool off after a long drive. As the day turned into night, we gathered around a bonfire and roasted marshmallows. We laughed and told stories, enjoying each other's company and the simple pleasures of life. It was a moment of pure happiness and contentment.Eventually, it was time to head back home. As we drove back, we were tired but happy, with memories of an unforgettable day etched into our minds. The road trip had been a spontaneous decision, but it turned out to be one of the best days of our lives.。

2018英语高考作文范文

2018英语高考作文范文

2018英语高考作文范文Chapter 1: IntroductionThe year 2018 marked a significant milestone for the students across the whole nation as they prepared and took the English National College Entrance Examination, commonly known as the English Gaokao. As one of the most important exams in China, the English Gaokao examines the students' English language skills, critical thinking abilities, and overall knowledge of the English language. This essay aims to examine the challenges faced by the students during the English Gaokao, the impact it has on their future, and the potential solutions to overcome these challenges.Chapter 2: Challenges faced by StudentsOne of the major challenges faced by students during the English Gaokao is the pressure to perform well. The results of this examination often determine their chances of entering reputable universities and pursuing higher education. The fear of failure, coupled with the high-stakes nature of the exam, can be overwhelming for many students. The pressure can sometimes lead to anxiety and impact their performance negatively.Another challenge is the vast amount of knowledge students need to absorb and memorize in a relatively short period. English Gaokao covers a wide range of topics, including grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and essay writing. Students are required to memorize numerous vocabulary words, grammar rules, and practice applying them effectively.Chapter 3: Impact on Students' FutureThe English Gaokao has a significant impact on students' future prospects. The grades obtained in this exam are used by universities to evaluate and select their incoming students. Higher scores in the Gaokao can open doors to prestigious universities, increase scholarship opportunities and enhance future job prospects. Consequently, the pressure to excel in this exam often leads to highly competitive environments among students, where only a limited number can succeed. Moreover, the English Gaokao plays a crucial role in determining the quality of English education in China. As this examination tests various aspects of the English language, it acts as a benchmark to evaluate the efficacy of the English language curriculum across the nation. The results provide feedback on the effectiveness of teaching methods, highlight areas for improvement, and inform the development of future educational policies.Chapter 4: Potential SolutionsTo address the challenges faced by students during the English Gaokao, it is crucial to emphasize the importance of a well-balanced approach to education. Students should be encouraged to take care of their mental and physical well-being, as excessive pressure and stress can hinder their performance. Schools can provide counseling services, stress management workshops, and encourage extracurricular activities to create a more holistic learning environment.Additionally, the educational system should promote a more student-centered approach, focusing on enhancing critical thinking and problem-solving abilities rather than rote memorization. Incorporating interactive and practical teaching methods can help create a dynamic and engaging classroom environment. Teachers might consider utilizing multimedia tools, group discussions, and project-based assignments to foster the students' love for the subject and encourage active participation. In conclusion, the English Gaokao presents several challenges for students, impacts their future prospects, and influences the quality of English education in China. By recognizing the pressures involved, implementing a balanced approach, and promoting a student-centered learning environment, the educational system can support students in preparing for this high-stakes examination while ensuring their overall growth and development. This will help to mitigate the challenges faced by students and provide them with a brighter future.Chapter 5: The Importance of Language ProficiencyOne of the key aspects that the English Gaokao assesses is the students' language proficiency. English has become a global language, and proficiency in this language has become increasingly important in various fields such as business, academia, and technology. A high level of English proficiency can open doors to international opportunities and enhance global communication skills. Therefore, it is essential for students to develop strong language skills that go beyond simply passing a test. The English Gaokaoshould not be seen as just a means to an end, but rather as an opportunity to improve one's language skills for future success. Students should understand the real-life application of the language and strive to become proficient English speakers and writers.Chapter 6: Adapting to the Changing LandscapeIn recent years, there have been discussions about reforming the English Gaokao to better align with practical language skills and critical thinking abilities. The focus is shifting from pure memorization of vocabulary and grammar rules to more practical applications of the language. This change not only benefits the students but also creates a more accurate evaluation of their language proficiency.Furthermore, with the advancements in technology, there is a growing emphasis on incorporating digital tools and resources into language learning. Online platforms, mobile applications, and artificial intelligence-based programs can enhance students' language learning experiences and make them more interactive and engaging. These tools can provide personalized feedback, practice exercises, and real-time assessment, allowing students to track their progress and improve their language skills effectively. Chapter 7: Collaboration between StakeholdersTo overcome the challenges faced by students during the English Gaokao, collaboration between various stakeholders is crucial. This includes educators, policymakers, parents, and students themselves. Educators should strive to develop innovative teachingstrategies that promote effective language learning and critical thinking. Policymakers should consider the recommendations of educators and students when devising educational policies and conducting Gaokao reforms.Parents play a vital role in supporting students' learning journey. They should understand the challenges faced by their children and provide guidance and encouragement. Parents can also play an active role in advocating for a more holistic and student-centered approach to education.Chapter 8: ConclusionThe English Gaokao is an important examination that has a significant impact on the students' future prospects and the quality of English education in China. However, it is essential to recognize the challenges students face and provide support to help them excel in this examination while maintaining their overall well-being.Implementing a balanced approach that values mental and physical health, promoting a student-centered learning environment, and adapting the examination format to assess practical language skills will contribute to a more comprehensive and effective English Gaokao experience. Collaboration between stakeholders is essential to bring about these changes and ensure that students are well-prepared for their future endeavors.By addressing the challenges, nurturing language proficiency, adapting to changes, and fostering collaboration, the English Gaokao can become a more accurate measure of students' languageskills and a stepping stone towards a brighter future. With these improvements, students will be better equipped to face the globalized world and pursue their academic and career aspirations successfully.。

2018年全国英语竞赛d类真题作文

2018年全国英语竞赛d类真题作文

2018年全国英语竞赛d类真题作文全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1Unfortunately, I do not have access to specific 2018 National English Competition (Category D) essay prompts. However, I can provide a sample essay based on a typical English competition prompt. Here is an example:Title: The Impact of Technology on EducationIn the modern world, technology has become an essential part of our everyday lives, impacting various aspects of society, including education. The integration of technology in education has revolutionized the way students learn and teachers teach. In this essay, we will explore the positive and negative impacts of technology on education. One of the main benefits of technology in education is its ability to enhance the learning experience. With the aid of computers, tablets, and the internet, students have access to a vast amount of information at their fingertips. This allows them to research and explore a wide range of topics, expanding their knowledge beyond what is taught in the classroom. Additionally, technologies such as online learning platforms and educational apps provide a more interactive and engaging learning experience for students.Furthermore, technology has made education more accessible to students from all walks of life. Online courses and virtual classrooms have enabled students to learn from anywhere in the world, breaking down geographical barriers. This has created opportunities for students in remote areas or those with physical disabilities to receive an education that would have otherwise been inaccessible. However, the integration of technology in education is not without its challenges. One major concern is the digital divide, where students from low-income households or rural areas may not have access to the necessary technology and internet connection required for online learning. This can create inequalities in education and hinder the academic progress of these students.Another issue is the potential for technology to be a distraction in the classroom. With the prevalence of smartphones and social media, students may be tempted to use their devices for non-educational purposes during class, leading to a decline in focus and productivity. Teachers must find ways to effectivelyintegrate technology into their lessons while minimizing distractions. In conclusion, technology has the potential to revolutionize education by providing students with access to a wealth of information and creating new opportunities for learning. However, it is essential that educators address the challenges posed by technology, such as the digital divide and distractions in the classroom, in order to ensure that all students can benefit from the advantages of technology in education. Only by striking a balance between the benefits and challenges of technology can we truly harness its power to improve the quality of education for all students.篇22018 National English Competition (Class D) Writing TaskQuestion:Write an essay on the following topic: "The Impact of Technology on Communication"In recent years, technology has profoundly changed the way we communicate with each other. From the invention of smartphones to the rise of social media platforms, technology has revolutionized the way we interact and connect with others. In this essay, I will explore the impact of technology on communication and discuss both its positive and negative aspects. One of the biggest advantages of technology in communication is its ability to connect people from all over the world. With just a click of a button, we can now communicate with someone on the other side of the globe in real-time. This has allowed for greater global connectivity and has made the world feel smaller and more interconnected. Additionally, technology has also made communication more convenient and efficient. Emails, text messages, and video calls have made it easier than ever to keep in touch with friends and family, regardless of distance. On the other hand, the rise of technology has also brought about certain challenges in communication. One major issue is the potential loss of face-to-face interaction. With the prevalence of social media and messaging apps, many people now prefer to communicate through screens rather than in person. This can lead to a decrease in meaningful connections and a lack of genuine human interaction. Furthermore, the constant barrage of digital communication can be overwhelming and can lead to feelings of isolation and disconnection. In conclusion, while technology has greatly improved the way we communicate, it is important to recognize both its benefits and drawbacks. It is crucial that we find a balance between utilizing technology to enhance our connections with others while also prioritizing face-to-face communication and genuine human connection. By doing so, we can ensure that technology continues to enrich our lives without overshadowing the importance of meaningful interactions.Overall, the impact of technology on communication is undeniable and it is up to us to navigate this new digital landscape in a way that benefits us both personally and socially.篇32018 National English Competition Class D Writing TestThe 2018 National English Competition Class D Writing Test was held on June 15th, 2018, with thousands of students from all over the country participating in the competition. The test consisted of a writing task where students were asked to write an essay on a given topic within a specified time frame. The topic for the writing task was "The Impact of Social Media on Communication". Students were required to discuss how social media has changed the way we communicate witheach other, both positively and negatively. They were also asked to provide examples to support their arguments and to suggest ways in which we can make better use of social media to improve communication. Many students found the topic to be quite challenging, as it required them to think critically about the effects of social media on our communication habits. Some students argued that social media has made it easier for people to stay connected with friends and family, while others pointed out that it has also led to a decrease in face-to-face communication.Overall, the 2018 National English Competition Class D Writing Test was a great opportunity for students to showcase their writing skills and critical thinking abilities. The competition not only challenged students to think deeply about important issues but also encouraged them to communicate their ideas effectively in writing. In conclusion, the 2018 National English Competition Class D Writing Test was a valuable experience for all the students who participated, helping them to improve their English language skills and develop their ability to express themselves clearly and persuasively.。

They can first educate themselves and others on the symptoms of mental health issues. For instance, if a student is dealing with social anxiety, it may be harder for them to participate in a class group discussion; if a student has been through a trauma such as sexual abuse the night before, they are certainly not going to care how to solve problems in math. Teachers can make a difference just by recognizing signs and symptoms students are exhibiting, thus providing help accordingly. For example, teachers can assign classmates as volunteer assistants, provide private feedback on academic performance, and even allow examsin an alternate format such as orally versus essay form. 一、英译汉The Business of Planting TreesA Growing Investment OpportunityApproximately 41 million trees are cut down every day—far faster than we are currently replanting them. The consequences of deforestation and other types of land degradation are severe, exacerbating climate change, biodiversity loss, and declines in ecosystem services that hundreds of millions of people depend on.In response, governments around the world have committed to restore 160 million hectares—an area larger than South Africa. But it will take more than government action to execute on these commitments; the private sector has an important role to play, too.In fact, these commitments are spurring increased demand for companies that can deliver large projects cost-effectively—restoring degraded land has the potential to become a big business opportunity, on top of providing much needed climate mitigation and other ecosystem benefits. Established companies and entrepreneurs alike are finding new ways to make money from sustainably managed forests and farms. Some are responding to governmental incentives; others are responding directly to the market, restoring land to generate new products and services, or to differentiate their offerings from the competition. Some entrepreneurs are betting that a huge new business opportunity for natural carbon capture and sequestration will emerge as more governments charge a fee for emissions driving climate change. New research by The Nature Conservancy, World Resources Institute and other partners shows that restoration and other land management improvements could provide more than a third of the emissions reductions necessary to keep global warming under 2°C.Yet hurdles remain, and one of the biggest is funding. Many investors still know little about restoration opportunities. This report is intended to bridge that information gap; it includes case studies of 14 innovative enterprises across eight countries. They cover a fascinating range of activities, from drones that shoot seeds into hardened soils to genetic research on tree species threatened with extinction. The restoration economy is at the take-off stage. New business models are emerging, technology is advancing and governments are showing political will. This is great news for investors looking for the next growth opportunity. And this is good news for the planet, since restoring land can provide clean water, improve livelihoods and enhance biodiversity—all while pulling back to the earth excess atmospheric carbon that would otherwise be heating the planet.Opportunities have never been greater—and the task has never been more urgent. As an ancient Chinese proverb says, “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The next best time is now.”二、汉译英中国移动支付发展引领世界大约在1500年前,中国发明了纸币。

Studying abroad does not mean a promising future
Under the situation of world peace and development, people's living standards are higher and higher, and education is paid more and more attention. A large number of parents hold the view that the purpose of education is for the hi-tech people, believe that as long as they have studied abroad experience can get a good job, can be better than others. However, gilded, and having a study experience does not mean a great future.
Finally, the role of studying abroad varies from person to person. To a person's development, the individual's effort is the internal cause, but the external environment is the external cause, the external cause exerts the function through the internal cause. Some international students went abroad and thought their task was complete. They began to slouch and do nothing. Even if the final lucky graduation obtained a degree. But the ability is also bad. When they entered the post, their weaknesses were revealed. So studying abroad is a beginning, not an end.
Our lives are largely linked to our efforts. Nothing can bring us to the sky. So we should look at this matter rationally, do not regard studying abroad as the master key. Studying abroad does not mean a bright future.
题目:The number of foreign study tours by Chinese students is expected to hit 1 million this year, involving 30 billion yuan in expenditure, according to China's biggest online travel agency .
Why more and more Chinese young students choose overseas study tours?Write an essay with YOUR OWN TITLE, clearly stating your opinion and supporting your ideas with reasons or examples. You should write 350-400 words.
Study travelers are also getting younger. The average age of travelers who took their first study tours overseas is 12.1 years old.Students of a younger age seem to be the upward trend.
Secondly, studying abroad does not mean a good future. Quite a few Chinese students go to study abroad simply to have overseas study experience. They believe that as long as they have the experience of studying abroad, they can be a winner in life. So even if you don't apply for a good university, you have to apply for a pheasant university to study abroad. They ignore, however, that these universities do not provide them with a good education or improve their abilities. This is a waste of time. After returning to China, they will fall into an awkward situation where their academic qualifications are not recognized and their abilities are not accepted. It runs counter to the original goal.
First of all, not all study abroad is worth it. Our country's level of science and technology and education is making continuous progress, and in some fields it is even more advanced in the world. Many students blindly follow the trend, ignoring their own situation. For example, Chinese language and literature majors have more advantages in studying at home than abroad.
