Shanghai has so many cool things to see and do. I'm going to tell you all about the best sights we saw on our vacation. The first place we went was the Bund. The Bund is this long strip along the Huangpu River with tons of old European-style buildings. My dad told me they were built way back when Shanghai was still run by people from other countries like Britain and France and not by China. The buildings looked super old but also really pretty and fancy. At night, the whole Bund area lights up and the buildings glow different colors. It was so bright and beautiful!Across the river from the Bund is the area called Pudong. This is where you can see Shanghai's huge skyscrapers! The view from the Bund looking across at Pudong's skyline wasmind-blowing. The skyscrapers seemed to stretch up higher thanI could even see. My favorite was the Shanghai Tower which hasa twisty, spiral shape. At 632 meters, it's one of the tallest buildings in the world! I also loved seeing the Pearl Tower which kind of looks like a giant pearl on a stick. The bright lights and neon signs covering the skyscrapers make Pudong look like a futuristic sci-fi city.We took a tour up to the top of one of the skyscrapers called the Shanghai World Financial Center. The observation deck is on the 100th floor! You could see the entire city stretched out below you in every direction. It was a little scary being up so high but the 360 degree views were unbelievable. I had never seen so many buildings clustered together in my life. Shanghai just seemed to go on forever.Another day, we went to Yu Garden which was built during the Ming Dynasty a really long time ago. You enter through this incredible zigzag bridge over a pound full of big koi fish. Once inside, there are all these traditional Chinese pavilions, halls, rockeries, and cloisters. The gardens were so peaceful compared to the hustle and bustle of downtown Shanghai. My favorite area was the Grand Rockery which has this huge 12-meter tall rock that was brought all the way from a lake 600 miles away! YuGarden made me feel like I had traveled back hundreds of years to ancient China. We also spent a day wandering around the French Concession neighborhood. All the streets are lined with plane trees and the architecture looks super European. My mom told me that area used to be part of the French colony in Shanghai back in the 1800s. We stopped at cute cafes, boutiques, and bookstores tucked inside converted villas. The French Concession had such a relaxing, artsy vibe compared to the huge skyscrapers downtown. It felt like being in Paris! One of the coolest things we did was go up to the scenic viewing deck inside the Pearl Tower. You take these hugggge elevators that spin around as they go up through the center of the tower. Once you reach the top, you can see Shanghai's entire skyline through floor-to-ceiling windows. You're up so high that the buildings dwarf everything! We even went out onto the outdoor observation deck and I got to walk on transparent glass floors. It was scary looking straight down through the glass floors to the ground 286 meters below. But the panoramic views were just breathtaking.I have to say, Shanghai has endless amazing sights to explore! The contrasts between the historic, European, andfuturistic parts of the city make it such a unique place. One minute you're strolling quiet ancient gardens, and the nextyou're surrounded by gigantic skyscrapers as far as the eye can see. I'll never forget the incredible architecture and scenery of dynamic, cutting-edge Shanghai. It's a city like nowhere else!篇2My Amazing Trip to ShanghaiHi everyone! I'm so excited to share with you about my recent trip to the amazing city of Shanghai! It was the first time I traveled so far from home, and I had the best time ever. Shanghai is a huge, bustling city with so many cool sights to see. Let me tell you all about it!Our journey started when we took a super long flight from my hometown. I had never been on a plane before, so that was really fun and special. When we landed in Shanghai, the first thing I noticed was how different everything looked from back home. The buildings were all tall and modern-looking, with bright lights and huge signs written in Chinese characters. We took a taxi from the airport to our hotel right in the heart of the city. I couldn't stop staring out the window at the crazy traffic and all the people zipping by on scooters and bicycles. Itwas like nothing I had ever seen before! Finally, we made it to our hotel, which was THIS tall building with a fancy spinning door at the entrance. So cool! The next morning, we headed out to start exploring Shanghai. Our first stop was the Bund, which is this long waterfront area with incredible views of the city skyline across the Huangpu River. I had never seen skyscrapers and buildings that huge in my whole life! We got to walk along the Bund and take tons of pictures to remember this amazing sight. After the Bund, we visited the Yu Garden, which is this beautiful traditional garden filled with ponds, bridges, pavilions, and plants. It felt like being transported back in time to ancient China. Everything was so peaceful and serene in the garden, away from the noise and chaos of the big city. I loved looking at all the intricate wood carvings and designs.Next up was Nanjing Road, one of the busiest shopping streets on Earth! The entire road was packed with people, stores, lights, and signs as far as the eye could see. It was a bit overwhelming at first, with all the sights, sounds, and smells, but also super exciting. We didn't do much shopping, but just walking through the crowds and taking it all in was an adventure in itself.Another highlight of our Shanghai trip was going up to the top observation deck of the tallest building in China – the Shanghai Tower. Even though I was a little scared of heights, the views from up there were breathtaking and worth conquering my fear. We could see the entire sprawling city spread out beneath us in every direction. It felt like being on top of the world!Of course, we also had to try plenty of delicious Shanghai cuisine during our trip. My favorite dish was xiaolongbao, which are these amazing little soup dumplings. You have to be really careful eating them so the hot broth doesn't squirt out! We also had scallion pancakes, noodles, and other tasty snacks from street food vendors. I loved getting to experience the local flavors.Towards the end of our trip, we visited the Shanghai Disney Resort, which was a dream come true for me! Getting to go on rides, meet Disney characters, and experience the magic of Disneyland was the best way to end our incredible journey. I'll never forget that trip for as long as I live.Shanghai was unlike any place I had ever been before. The sights, the sounds, the smells, the energy – everything about that city was exciting and fascinating to me. From toweringskyscrapers to ancient gardens to delicious food toworld-famous theme parks, Shanghai had so much to offer. I feel so lucky that I got to experience it all at such a young age. It opened my eyes to the world beyond my small hometown and gave me the travel bug for sure! I know this was just the first of many amazing trips and adventures in my future. I can't wait to see what other incredible places are out there waiting to be explored!篇3My Fun Trip to Shanghai!Last summer, my family and I went on a really cool trip to Shanghai! Shanghai is a huge city in China with so many fun things to see and do. I was sooo excited for this trip because I had never been anywhere quite like Shanghai before.First, we visited the Bund. The Bund is this long strip along the Huangpu River with tall skyscrapers on one side and old European-style buildings on the other side. It's really pretty, especially at night when all the buildings are lit up with bright lights! We walked along the Bund and took tons of pictures. My favorite was in front of the Oriental Pearl TV Tower which kind of looks like a big pearl on a stick. So cool!Next, we went to Yu Garden which is this ancient garden with beautiful ponds, bridges, and buildings from a long time ago. Everything looked really old and fancy. My brother and I had fun exploring all the little pathways and tunnels. We even saw some baby turtles swimming in one of the ponds! We also went shopping in the Yu Garden Bazaar nearby. There were so many little shops selling trinkets, snacks, clothes, and other neat things.Another day, we visited the Shanghai Tower which is a gigantic skyscraper - one of the tallest buildings in the world! We took an elevator up to the observation decks wayyyy up at the top. The view was incredible! I could see the entire city of Shanghai laid out below. It looked like a huge jungle of skyscrapers and roads. I felt so tiny up there! My favorite part was probably Disneyland though. Shanghai Disneyland is SO fun! We went on tons of rides like Space Mountain, Soaring Over the Horizon, and my very favorite - the TRON Lightcycle Power Run ride which was like being inside the TRON movie. Riding the lightcycles was a total blast. The park is also really pretty with different themed lands like Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, and Adventure Isle. We stayed until the night and watched the parade and the fireworks show over the castle. Magical!!And of course, we couldn't visit Shanghai without eating tons of yummy food! I tried so many new snacks and dishes like xiaolongbao (little soup dumplings), shengjianbao (pan fried buns), jianbing (crispy crepes), and soyong (little twists of deep fried dough). My very favorite was the xiaolongbao because they were so hard to eat without the soup squirting out, but sooo delicious. I must have eaten like a hundred of them!I also loved seeing all the bright neon signs and flashy advertisements everywhere in Shanghai. It felt like being in a futuristic video game world with all the tall buildings, bright lights, and crazy skyscrapers. Pudong area looked especially awesome at night all lit up.Shanghai was such an awesome city to visit. There was always something new to explore around every corner. From the ancient gardens to the towering skyscrapers to world-class Disneyland, Shanghai had it all! I had the best time and can't wait to go back someday. Maybe I'll even be able to read all the signs next time if I keep practicing my Chinese!篇4My Amazing Trip to Shanghai!Hi, my name is Lily and I'm 10 years old. Last summer, my family took the best vacation ever to Shanghai, China! Shanghai is a huge city with so many cool things to see and do. I'm going to tell you all about the awesome sights we saw there. Our trip started with a ride on the super fast Maglev train from the airport into the city. The Maglev doesn't have wheels, it hovers above the tracks using powerful electromagnets! It goes over 260 mph, zipping us into Shanghai in just 8 minutes. Looking out the window, I saw buildings and cars zooming by in a blur. It was an amazing way to start our adventure in this high-tech city.We stayed at a fancy hotel right on the Huangpu River in the heart of Shanghai. Our room had a balcony with an incredible view of the iconic Oriental Pearl TV Tower. At night, the tower is covered in bright, colorful lights that make it look like a beautiful glowing pearl. Seeing it all lit up from our balcony was breathtaking! The Bund is one of Shanghai's most famous areas. It has a gorgeous riverside promenade lined with dozens of historic bank buildings from the 1800s and 1900s. Their architecture is super European-looking with greco-roman columns, domes, andintricate stone carvings. Walking along the Bund's boardwalk felt like being transported back in time to an era of classic elegance. At night, the Bund gets even more incredible when all the futuristic skyscrapers across the river light up in neon, creating an awesome backdrop. We took a cruise along the Huangpu River one evening to admire this famous "Bund lightshow." The boat gave us amazing views of both the old Bund buildings and the brand new, ultra-modern towers in Pudong. It was the perfect way to experience both the historic and modern sides of the city.Another day, we visited the Yu Garden in the Old Town neighborhood. Yu means "peace and leisure" in Chinese, and this beautiful garden certainly was a peaceful place. It has amazing Chinese pavilions, rockeries with waterfalls and fish ponds, and the famous Exquisite Jade Rock, a 3.3 meter tall piece of jade skillfully carved into twisting shapes. I've never seen jade carved so intricately before! The whole garden made me feel like I had traveled back to ancient China when it was first built in the 1500s.We also went up to the 118th floor observation deck of the Shanghai Tower, one of the tallest skyscrapers in the world. The glass-floored lookout gave us a bird's eye view of the entire city and surrounding areas stretching for miles in every direction. I'venever seen so many skyscrapers packed into one place - Shanghai has over 4000 towers! Looking out towards the coast, I could even see parts of the East China Sea. Having such an incredible view from nearly half a kilometer up in the sky was mind-blowing.Our last big sight was the Zhujiajiao water town, an ancient village on a series of canals and rivers about an hour outside of central Shanghai. Gliding through the canals on a little gondola boat was so peaceful and relaxing. The old buildings with zigzag bridges, cobblestone streets, and traditional Chinese architecture like arched gateways looked like something out of a painting or movie. We visited artisan shops making crafts using centuries-old techniques that have been passed down for generations. Zhujiajiao gave me a wonderful glimpse into China's rich history and traditional ways of life.Shanghai is such an amazing, vibrant city with one foot in the modern, 21st century world and the other rooted deeply in ancient Chinese history and culture. From cutting-edge skyscrapers and monumental towers to serene classical gardens and picturesque water towns, this city has something incredible around every corner. My family and I created so many unforgettable memories exploring the unbelievable sights ofShanghai. I feel so lucky to have experienced it all! This was definitely the best vacation ever.篇5My Amazing Trip to Shanghai!Last summer, my family went on a really cool trip to Shanghai. It's a huge city in China with lots of tall buildings and bright lights. I was so excited to go there and see all the amazing sights! The first place we went was the Bund. It's a long row of old buildings right next to the Huangpu River. We walked along the riverbank and I could see the ultra-modern skyscrapers in Pudong across the water. The Shanghai Tower is one of the tallest buildings in the world! It has a twisty shape that looks so beautiful all lit up at night. We took a cruise along the river to get a closer view of the incredible skyline. Seeing the bright lights reflecting on the water was magical.Another day, we visited Yu Garden, which is an ancient garden in the Old Town part of the city. There are beautiful pools and bridges and pavilions all covered in dragon decorations. We got to walk through the bazaar area too, where little shops selltrinkets, jade jewelry, and all kinds of fun souvenirs. I bought a small carved Buddha statue to remind me of my trip.Next, we went up in the Oriental Pearl TV Tower. It's a huge tower with bubble shapes on the top and bottom. We took an elevator up to one of the bubbles, which is a glass observation deck. I could see the whole city spread out below me! It was a little scary being so high up, but the 360 degree views were breathtaking. We could even see the Bund and the skyscrapers in Pudong from up there. My favorite part of the trip was visiting Shanghai Disneyland. It's a massive Disney park with so many fun rides and shows. I went on the Tron Lightcycle Power Run roller coaster, which made me feel like I was on a motorcycle in the Tron movies. We also watched the incredible nighttime parade and fireworks show over the lake. The fireworks lit up the entire park with bright colors and shapes. It was the most amazing fireworks display I've ever seen! One day, we took a day trip to one of the ancient water towns near Shanghai called Zhujiajiao. It's a little village with old houses and bridges over the canals. We got to take a boat ride along the waterways, which was so peaceful and pretty. The stone bridges arched over the canals were so picturesque. Wealso visited artisan shops where they make traditional crafts like wood fans and clay sculptures. I tried on some old-fashioned Chinese shoes that curved up at the toes!Near the end of our trip, we went up to the observation deck on the Shanghai World Financial Center skyscraper. The unique shape of the building has a circular hole at the top. We stepped out onto the glass observation box hanging over the hole, so we could look straight down at the streets below from 100 stories up. It was definitely a little scary, but very cool at the same time!On our last night, we saw an amazing acrobat show called ERA at the Shanghai Circus World. The performers did incredible stunts and tricks, like jumping through rings, contorting their bodies, and balancing on stacked chairs. At one point, they had motorcycles riding around inside a metal sphere! The colorful costumes and modern staging made it one of the best shows I've ever seen.Shanghai was such a fascinating city to visit. The mix of ancient gardens and modern sky towers made it feel like two different worlds combined into one amazing place. I'll never forget seeing the bright lights along the Bund, riding the crazy rides at Disneyland, taking the boat through Zhujiajiao, andlooking down from the observation decks high above the city. It was truly an unforgettable trip!篇6My Amazing Trip to Shanghai!Last summer, my family and I went on a super cool trip to Shanghai, China! Shanghai is a huge city with over 24 million people living there. It's located right on the coast of eastern China. My mom said it was going to be an amazing cultural experience and boy, was she right! Our adventure started as soon as we landed at the airport. Shanghai has two major airports - Pudong International Airport and Hongqiao International Airport. We flew into Pudong which is one of the busiest airports in the whole world! The airport was massive with a cool wavy roof. As we walked through the terminal, I saw signs and announcements in both Chinese and English. After grabbing our luggage, we took a taxi to our hotel in downtown Shanghai. The taxi drive was pretty wild with tons of cars, buses, pedestrians and even some bicycles! Our driver didn't speak much English but he got us to our hotel safely. I'll never forget seeing the bright lights and towering skyscrapers ofShanghai's skyline for the first time. It looked like something from the future! We stayed at a really tall hotel right in the heart of the city. Our room was on the 57th floor and had an awesome view overlooking the city. That first evening, we went walking along the Bund which is a famous waterfront area in central Shanghai. Along the Bund, there are tons of beautiful historic buildings from the 1800s and early 1900s when Shanghai was a major trading port.Across the water from the Bund is the modern skyline of the Lujiazui area in Pudong. This area is filled with some of the tallest skyscrapers and most unique building designs I've ever seen! The coolest one is probably the twisty Shanghai Tower which is the second tallest building in the world at 2,073 feet tall. At night, the whole area is lit up with colorful lights reflecting off the water. It's such an incredible sight! The next day we visited Yu Garden which is an ancient garden with beautiful pavilions, ponds, and rock sculptures. The garden was first built all the way back in 1559 during the Ming Dynasty! Everything was so peaceful and serene inside compared to the hustle and bustle outside. We also walked along the Bund again and visited Nanjing Road, a major pedestrian shoppingstreet. It felt like being in New York City with how busy and crowded it was!Another highlight was going up to the observation deck on the 119th floor of the Shanghai World Financial Center. This skyscraper has a huge circular hole in the top which looks so awesome and unique. From the observation deck we had 360 degree views overlooking the entire city of Shanghai. It was a little scary being so high up but the views were totally worth it! My favorite part was looking down through the circular hole to see the buildings and streets directly below. So cool!Of course, we had to try lots of delicious Chinese food while in Shanghai. The city is famous for shanghainese cuisine like xiaolongbao (soup dumplings), shengjianbao (pan-fried dumplings), and niangao (glutinous rice cakes). We went to the Yu Garden Bazaar area which had hundreds of little restaurants and street food stands. Everything smelled so good! I loved getting freshly cooked jianbing (egg crepes) from the street vendors. On our last day, we went on a river cruise down the Huangpu River which winds right through the center of Shanghai. It was awesome being out on the water and getting a different view of the iconic Shanghai skyline. Looming thro ugh the mist, like a reproduction of a classical Chinese ink painting of landscape, stands Shanghai’s Oriental Pearl TV Tower. Its soaring height of 468 meters boldly characterizes the Lujiazui cityscape. The tower’s jagged reflection in the water mirrors Pudong’s modern development and people’s aspirations, while the new-classical edifices across the Huangpu River staunchly attest to Puxi’s old past. It should be noted that the Oriental Pearl TV Tower ranks the tallest in Asia and the third tallest in the world, only second to Toronto CN Tower (553.3m) and Moscow Ostankino Tower (533.3m).The location of the Oriental Pearl TV Tower is very ideally chosen. It is at the tip of Lujiazui by the side of Huahngpu River, just opposite the world famous Bund of Shanghai. The design scheme of the Oriental Pearl TV Tower was selected from 12 outstanding design schemes by nationwide well-known experts and approved by the Shanghai Municipal Government. The architects, inspired by rich imagination, arranged 13 spheres together with some ground facilities in the order of their sizes high up in the blue sky down to a carpet ofgreen lawn like a string of pearls, while two dazzling ruby-like colossal spheres are propped high up. The harmonious entity of the tower presents at night when lights are on a picture of pearls, big and small, falling into a jade plate (quoted from “The Sontg of Pipa Girl” by Bei Juyi, a great Chinese poet in the Tang Dynasty), a scene full of poetic and artistic conception. It is not only a great attraction to visitors but also an important symbol of Shanghai. The Oriental Pearl TV Tower, with a total floor space of 54,000 square meters, is mainly composed of the base, three gigantic columns (9 meters in diameter), the lower sphere (50 meters in diameter), the upper sphere (45 meters in diameter), and the spherical penthouse. The tower is outstanding and unique in configuration, and has good stability and aseismatic performance. It also represents the state-of-art in TV tower design, reflecting the progress of the modern science and technology. Before visiting the temple, I’d like to say a few words about the religious situation in Shanghai. Our constitution stipulates that every Chinese citizen is ensured the freedom of religious belief. There are four major religions in practice in Shanghai, namely, Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, and Christianity, which is sub-divided into theCatholic Church and the Protestant Church. When it comes to Buddhist temples in China, they are usually classified into three sects, i.e. temples for meditation, for preaching and for practicing Buddhist disciplines. The Jade Buddha Temple is a temple for meditation, and is well-known both at home and abroad. The temple was first built during the reign of Emperor Guangxu of Qing Dynasty, when a monk named Hui Gen went on a pilgrimage to Burma and brought back five jade statues of Sakyamuni. On his way back to Mount Putuo via Shanghai, he left two jade statues here, one in sitting posture and the other, reclining. He had a temple specially built as a shrine for these two statues in 1882. later the temple was partly destroyed by fire and in 1928 a new temple was completed on the present site.Just opposite the temple gate, there stands a giant screen wall. Various designs, such as dragon, phoenix, elephant, crane and peony are carved on it. In Chinese legend, all these things are considered the symbols of fortune, wealth, longevity and auspiciousness. Chinese people used to set up a wall in front of the house so as to keep the evils away. Now ladies and gentlemen, please turn around. Here we can see the temple gate. It is also called the Sanmen Gate, or say, the Gate of Three Extrications. The door in the middle is called the Door of Emptiness, to its right is the Door of Non-phenomenon, and to its left, the Door of Non-Action. Sanmen Gate is also called the Mountain Gate because most famous temples in China are found deep in mountains. But the Sanmen gate does not open except on the first and the fifteenth of every lunar month. Now this way to the entrance.Ladies and gentlemen, the first hall is the Heavenly King Hall. We will use the rear door, please follow me.(in the Heavenly King Hall next to the southern entrance)Here we can find the statue of a fat and smiling monk with bared belly. He is Bodhisattva Maitreya. His smile is so contagious that you will smile with him and forget all your worries. So he is also called the Laughing Buddha. According to Buddhist scripture, he is now practicing Buddhism in the Tusita Heaven. After 4000 years, which is equal to 5.67 billion years on the earth, he will become successor to Sakyamuni under a Long Hua Tree in Hualin Garden. Hence another name the Future Buddha. But this statue we see here is not the real image of Bodhisattva Maitreya, it is just his incarnation.. it is said that During the Five Dynasties Period, 1000 years ago, there lived in Fenhua in Zhejiang Province a monk named Qi Ci, who always carried a wooden staff with a cloth sack on his shoulder. He often went around towns and in streets to beg alms. Therefore he became known as “the Cloth Sack Monk”. He always smiled and laughed, looking as happy as ever. When he was dying, he left the message saying that he was the incarnation of Bodhisattva Maitreya. So his image is enshrined in the Buddhist Temple as the incarnation of Bodhisattva Maitreya.(on the eastern side of the Heavenly King Hall)On the two sides of the hall are enshrined four statues. They are so-called Four Heavenly Kings. In the Buddhist legend, there is in the center of the world a highest mountain called Mount Sumeru. Halfway on it is a mountain called Mount Ghandara with four peaks. On each peak lives a Heavenly King protecting the Buddhist heaven. The first one is the Southern King---King of Developing Merits. His duty is to educate all living creatures and develop king-heartedness. He is holding a sword in his hand which can emit a ray to chop off the enemies’ heads. The onenext to him is the Eastern King---King of Protection for Buddhism. He is holding in his hand a pipa, which is somewhat like a guitar. With this pipa, he offers music to the Buddha. Meanwhile this pipa is a magic weapon. It can send out a musical rhythm to defeat the enemy by tormenting brain and causing him to lose combatability. Now ladies and gentlemen, please come over to this side.(on the western side of the Heavenly King Hall)The first one on this side is the Northern King---King of Virtue. He is so called because of his virtue. He is holding a parasol-shaped stela in his hand. The parasol can be opened into a canopy in Buddhist processions. It is at the same time a magic umbrella. Once it is opened in the battle field, the sky turns dark and a wind-storm rises, defeating the enemy with a dizzy spell and then it closes up capturing all the enemies. Next to him is the Western King---King of Far Sight. He observes the world with his penetrating eyes. He is holding a dragon-shaped silk rope. The rope is actually a net, with which he converts people to Buddhism just like catching fish with a net. This dragon also has a magic power. It can spurt water from its mouth and drown the enemy in floods.(in the Heavenly King Hall next to the rear door)The Statue facing the rear door is Bodhisattva Skanda. He is always dressed in armour with a worrior’s club in his hand. Originally he was one of the eight heavenly generals under the Southern King of Developing Merits. Later he has been enshrined here because of his bravery. He is also a god of message, a fleet-foot runner, so when visitors come to the temple, he will immediately report to the Buddha in the Grand Hall. Now ladies and gentlemen, that’s all for the Heavenly KingHall. Please follow me and look out the threshold and the steps. Now we can see a giant tripod in the courtyard. It is actually a giant incense burner. It was donated by some Buddhist laymen who believed that by donating something the Buddha they can help purify the souls of their dead relatives from sins and relieve them from purgatory. Now this is the main hall, known as the Grand Hall or Grand Hall of the Great Sage. It is the main structure in every Buddhist temple, where the statue of Sakyamuni, the founder of Buddhism is enshrined.(in the Grand Hall)Ladies and gentlemen, in the middle of the hall is the statue of Sakyamuni, the founder of Buddhism. On his right is Medicine Buddha and on his left is Amitabha Buddha. Each is seated on a lotus blossom and has a back halo. Sakyamuni’s original name was Siddhartha Gautama. He was a contemporary of Confucius. He was born to a warrior’s family in the Himalayan foothill in ancient India, or say, in present-day Nepal. He spent his youth in great luxury. But he renounced the human world at the age of 29 in search of an ultimate solution to the problems of human sufferings. After six years of spiritual discipline he got enlightened at the age of 35. he spent the remaining 45 years of his life teaching his religion and establishing a community for monks to continue his work. He was entitled “Sakyamuni”, which means “the great sage of the Sakya Clan”. He died at the age of 80.On his chest there is a sign that resembles a swastika but it has nothing to do with Hitler’s fascism because it is in an inverted order. It is actually a religious talisman used in ancient orient, symbolizing the concentration of happiness andauspiciousness. The Medicine Buddha is responsible for the Eastern Bright World. Since he can relieve people of all pains and sufferings, he is called the Medicine Buddha. He is holding a wheel, which signifies the unremitting effort of converting people to Buddhism just like turning a wheel.Amitabha Buddha is in charge of the Western Paradise. He is holding a golden lotus blossom stand with which he extradites Buddhist believers to the Western Pure Land, therefore he is also called the Buddha of Guidance. In front of the Medicine Buddha is a hollow wooden fish. It is actually an instrument used by the monks to accompany the chanting of their prayers. But do you happen to know why it is in the pattern of a fish? Now let me tell you about it. The monks think that fish is the most diligent animal in the world because it never closes its eyes, therefore the image of the fish is used to advise people that they should practice Buddhism as diligently as the fish.On both sides of the hall stand 20 Heavenly Gods, all protectors of Buddhist laws. They all bend slightly as if they are listening attentively to Sakyamuni’s preaching. The first one on the right side is Brahma, the chief god of Brahmanism in ancient India. It was believed in ancient India that all living creatures in the world, including gods and men, were created by him and he was thus honored as the Great Creator. Next to him is Yamaraja, the God of Hell, who is in charge of the nether world. The fourth one on this side is Goddess of Loving Children. There is an interesting story about her. It is said that before she became a goddess she was a wicked woman. She herself had。

In the 400 years of its existence, Yuyuan Garden had undergone many changes. During the late Ming Dynasty, it became very dilapidated with the decline of Pan's family. In 1760, some rich merchants bought Yuyuan Garden and spent more than 20 years reconstructing the buildings. During the Opium War of the 19th century, Yuyuan Garden was severely damaged.
