When it was my turn, I channeled all my nerves into extra enthusiasm and energy. I don't even really remember doing the speech - it was like an out-of-body experience! But I know I didn't make any mistakes.After all the contestants had gone, we had to wait forever for the judges to decide the winners. I crossed my fingers and toes so hard. And guess what? Katie and I both won prizes! She got 2nd place and I got 3rd place in our grade level. We jumped up and down screaming and hugging each other when they called our names.
