2012年10月12日，新动力学校校长徐驰先生作为老校友，应邀出席了美国密西根州立大学国际专业人士访问项目的20周年庆典。在庆典上，徐驰先生做了关于“创新与领导力”的演讲，下面是演讲原文.

Innovation and Leadership

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you all. It is truly a great honor to stand before you here today as a speaker for the 20th anniversary of VIPP; and I’m delighted by the opportunity to share my experience with you.

Please allow me to briefly introduce our school. Beijing New Power School was founded in 2001 and provides language training and test preparation. With a current enrollment of over five thousand students, our school has trained over three hundred thousand since its founding. Our vision is to be the most respectable teaching and training institution in the world. Our mission is to produce value for society, to provide the highest quality education and service for our students, and to help them fulfill their dreams and goals.

Today, we live in a remarkable era, defined in great part by two notable phenomena. The first is science and technology; including many aspects, such as internet technology and medical technology, among others. The second is globalization.

Due to today’s rapid development, our lives tend to become frantically bus y. However, we also need to make a concerted effort to treat ourselves with the occasional escape from the world’s frustrations; listening to our hearts and inner voices with a quiet mind: going beyond self to pause and think.

It’s not easy to do that. Y ou need to put your troubles and worries completely aside; and you may worry that by simply turning off your phone and becoming unavailable you may forego some opporutunities. With diligence, though, the insight you gain from pure thinking can have a significant impact on your future.

In that vein, attending VIPP study in the United States, and gathering to communicate with the elites of different countries, we can expand our horizons and collect ideas and thoughts that significantly affect the future of our work.

To clearly define leadership is essential

As members of humanity, we tend to share an interesting trait: that is the urge to migrate –constantly moving and eager to change and innovate. I am no exception. I was born in Hubei Province, China, worked in Guangzhou, then moved to Beijing. Ten years ago, I studied VIPP in the United States, and, at the conclusion of the study, I returned to Beijing in the continuing pursuit of my dream of having my own business. During the interim decade, we have travelled extensively in China and other countries. With constant travel and learning, I have gained an abundance of innovative ideas; and I think that during the next decade, my daughter may inherit and continue this tradition.

It can be said that an open mind makes dreams come true. Now, it is possible for more people to choose their schools and work places and enrich their experiences. This opens more opportunities for the fulfillment of their dreams.

One day five years ago, my daughter was playing i n my office, and asked me, “Why are people working for you?” I did not say, “To make money,” like many businessmen may have.
