As well as 连词性质
1. 可以用来连接两个相同的成分，如名词、形容词、动词、介词短语等。

①连接名词：He gave me money as well as advice. 他除了给我忠告外，还给我钱。

He has got a car as well as a motorbike. 他不但有一辆摩托车，而且有一辆汽车。

②连接介词短语：We shall travel by night as well as by day. 我们将日夜赶路。

It is unpleasant in summer as well as in winter. 夏天不好过，冬天也不好过。

③连接形容词：The child is lively as well as healthy. 这孩子既健康又活泼。

2. as well as连接两个动词时，有三种情况：
1）前后两个动词的时态要一致。

即：若第一个动词是一般现在时，第二个动词也应是一般现在时；若第一个动词是一般过去时，第二个动词也应是一般过去时。

例如：
He publishes（published）as well as prints（printed）his own books．他的书是自己印刷并出版的。

She sings as well as she plays. 她弹得好，唱得也好。

2）如果第一个动词是复合时态，或由can，may，must等加动词构成时，as well as后面可省去助动词或情态动词，此时，as well as意为“既……又……”。

例如：
We are repairing the roof as well as painting the walls．我们在粉刷墙壁，同时也在修理屋顶。

She can／could sing as well as dance．她既会跳舞也会唱歌。

3）如果第一个动词是不定式，as well as后面的动词也要用不定式，但要去掉to。

例如：
You can't expect her to do the housework as well as look after the children．你不可能叫她既照管孩子又做家务。

3.由as well as 连接的复合主语并不影响谓语动词的数。

例如：
Helen as well as I is eager to see the performance. 海伦和我一样急于要看演出。

I as well as they am ready to help you. 不仅他们愿意帮助你，我也愿意帮助你。

George, as well as his brother, has gone abroad. 乔治和他兄弟一样都出国了。

此时，as well as连接的虽然是两个并列成分，但强调的重点在前面，不在后面。

（区别not only…but also…）The teacher, as well as the students, wishes for holidays.
Not only the students but also the teacher wishes for holidays. 不但学生，连老师都希望放假。

4. as well as 连接三个成分时，可用A and B as well as C; A as well as B and C。

但是不能用A, B as well as C。

比如说，通常不说“you, he as well as I”, 却说“you and he as well as I”。

5．注意as well as的另外两层涵义：
1）as well as还有“除……之外”之意, 相当于besides，in addition to，例如：
As well as knowing some Russian，she speaks English very well．除了懂得一点俄语之外，她的英语讲得很好。

As well as breaking his leg, he hurt his arm. 他不但摔断了腿，而且还伤了胳膊。

2）as well as还可视为as．．．as结构，用于副词的同等比较。

可解作“和……一样好”。

例如：
He can speak English as well as you can．他的英语说得和你一样好。

as well as 有时会引起歧义句。

例如：
He can speak French as well as English.
（1）他会说英语，也会说法语。

（2）他说法语能说得像英语一样好。

（…as well as he speaks English）。
