Overall,Europeaninstitutionsoccupyhalfofthetop200places, withtheNetherlandsandGermanyjoiningtheUKasthemost-representedcountries.Italy,SpainandtheNetherlandseachhavene wnumberones.
AnothernotabletrendisthecontinuedriseofChina.TheAsiangia ntisnowhometotwouniversitiesinthetop30:PekingandTsinghua.Th eBeijingduonowoutrankseveralprestigiousinstitutionsinEurope andtheUS.Meanwhile,almostallChineseuniversitieshaveimproved ,signallingthatthecountry’scommitmentstoinvestmenthasbolst eredresultsyear-on-year.
Incontrast,two-
fifthsoftheUSinstitutionsinthetop200(29outof62)havedroppedp laces.Intotal,77countriesfeatureinthetable.

英国两所大学牛津大学和剑桥大学首次引领该排行榜。

牛津大学在2017年2018年连续两年排名第一，剑桥大学从去年的第四上升到了第二。

总的来说，在前200个名额中，欧洲大学占领了半壁江山，其中最典型的是荷兰、德国和英国。

与中国大学情况相反的是，在美国排名世界前200的大学中，三分之二的大学排名均有所下降。

在入围世界前200的美国62所大学中，有29所大学排名下滑。
