1、雅思阅读长难句分析and it is imagined by many that the operations of the common mind can be by no means compared with theseprocesses, and that they have to be acquired by a sort of special training.要点:句子的框架是and it is imagined … that…, and that …。

这是典型的句型it + is + p. p. (过去分词)+ that clause。

2、雅思阅读长难句分析:whether the government should increase the financing of pure science at the expense of technology or vice versa(反之) often depends on the issue of which is seen as the driving force.要点:句子的框架是whether …or… often depends on …。

whether … or 引导了主语从句作句子的主语,financing 这里根据上下文要译成“经费投入”;介词结构of which is seen as the driving force 是宾语theissue 的后置定语,of 介词结构中又包含了which 引导的介词宾语从句。

Although Gutman admits that forced separation by sale was frequent,he shows that the slaves’ preference, revealed most clearly on plantations where sale was infrequent, was very much for stable monogamy.

The methods that a community devisesto perpetuate itself come into being to preserve aspects of the culture legacy that thatcommunity perceives as essential.

即that所引导的句子为定语从句,是修饰that methods,即什么样的methods,而come into being是谓语,come into being意思指的是:come into existence or 简洁点is made,to preserve是目的,即protect,aspects of the culture legacy,这是一个A OF B的名词短语,在此短语中,culture legacy,是重要的部分,而后面有两个that,前一个that 不言而喻是连词,后一个that 是介词,指代thatcommunity,culture legacy是名词,后用that的句子在后做修饰,因此为定语。

There had, of course, been dictionaries in the past, the first of these being a little book of some 120 pages, compiled by a certain Robert Cawdray, published in 1604 under the title A Table Alphabeticall ‘of hard usual English words .(剑5, Test 1 passage 1)分析:本句主句“There had been dictionaries〞;“the first of these being a little book of some 120 pages, compiled by a certain Robert Cawdray, published in 1604 under the title A Table Alphabeticall ‘of hard usual English words 〞为独立主格结构,其中“compiled by a certain Robert Cawdray〞和“published in 1604 under the title A Table Alphabeticall ‘of hard usual English words 〞均为过去分词短语作定语,做a little book的定语。

1. That sex ratio will be favored which maximizes the number of descendants an individual will have and hence the number of gene copies transmitted.

That sex ratio which maximizes the number of descendants an individual will have and hence the number of gene copies transmitted will be favored.

<b > 在which引导的从句中,有两处省略:第一处在maximize的第一个宾语the number of descendants that an individual will have中,an individual will have是修饰descendants 的定语从句,但是,因为在从句中作have的宾语,所以引导词that可以省略。

第二处省略是在第二个the number of 之前,省略了与前面一样的成分that sex ratio which maximizes.

That sex ratio will be favored which maximizes the number of descendants an individual will have and hence the number of gene copies transmitted.2. (This is )A desire to throw over reality a light that never was might give away abruptly to the desire on the part of what we might consider anovelist-scientist to record exactly and concretely the structure and texture of a flower .(5++)(这是一种)译文:照亮现实的欲望,此欲望从来就不会唐突的取代后面的那种欲望,后者是我们可以将其部分的理解为一个兼任小说加和科学家的人想要去准确并具体的记录下一朵花的结构和文理的那种意义上的欲望。
