(健康与饮食)李仕才导读:你见过蓝色和绿色的蜂蜜吗?这些奇怪颜色的蜂蜜是怎么来的呢?The colorful honeyBlue and green honey may look cool, but beekeepers in northeastern France are not happy about their strange-looking new product.Over the past few months, beekeepers in Ribeauvillé, a town located in the Alsace region, have noticed that bees there have been making honey in many strange colors. Bees have been returning to apiaries with different colors coating their bodies. The colors then ①end up polluting the honey.A recent research showed that a nearby M&M’s factory is behind the change in color. Waste from the factory has been exposing the bees to a number of chemicals. Some of the chemicals are used in the outer shells of the candies, which come in many bright colors. The local beekeepers do not know if the polluted honey is dangerous to eat, but they are not taking any chances. They are ②throwing away the candy-colored honey, which means a big loss to local businesses.“For me, it’s not honey,”Alain Frieh, leader of the town’s beekeepers union, tells the Reuters news agency. “It’s not sellable.”The honey industry in this part of France has been suffering this year. According to Frieh, many bees died last winter or were unable to make honey because of the bad weather. This new problem of colored honey is hurting the beekeepers’way of life even more. The region ③is home to about 2,400 beekeepers and 35,000 colonies of bees, according to Alsace’s chamber of agriculture. ④The beekeepers harvest approximately 1,000 tons of honey each year, making the product a big part of theregion’s economy.Agrivalor is the company that processes the M&M's factory's waste. According to co-manager Philippe Meinrad, the company has been ⑤attempting to stop the pollution.“We discovered the problem ⑥at the same time they did,”Meinrad tells Reuters. “We quickly put in place a procedure to stop it.”彩色的蜂蜜蓝色和绿色的蜂蜜可能看起来很酷,但法国东北部的养蜂人却不喜欢这种看起来怪异的产品。

Other commonly used ingredients include maize, peanuts, millet, wheat, oat, and a distinct type of vinegar. Quick fried, stir fried, stewed and braised items are among the more than thirty cooking techniques of Shandong cuisine.GuangdongAuthentic Cantonese cuisine is among the most adventurous in China in terms of variety of ingredients as the Cantonese are famous, even among the Chinese, for their extremely wide definition of what is considered edible (可食用的).Sauces, like hoisin, oyster sauce, sweet and sour sauce are predominant in Cantonese cuisine which produces light, sweet, tender and crisp dishes.SichuanSaying Sichuan cuisine is hot and spicy is an understatement. Mouth numbing (麻嘴的)and sweat inducing, one can easily become addicted to the Sichuan peppercorns and dry peppers. Also sweat inducing but in a different way is the Sichuan (as well as Chongqing) hotpot — perfect for the winter yet beloved by locals in the summer. The uniqueness of its cuisine also resides in its two cooking methods, the dry braising (焖)and the dry stewing.HuaiyangConsidered a sub regional style of the Jiangsu region, which also claims Shanghai and Hangzhou cuisine as descendants, Huaiyang cuisine is renowned for the delicateness of the dishes as well as the liberal use of sugar. Chefs of Huaiyang cuisine are more concerned with the presentation of the dishes as opposed to the “large plate contains everything “ mentality typical of northern Chinese cuisine.Representative dishes include tofu noodles, Beggar's Chicken, congee, Yangzhou fried rice and braised meatballs. And they often lead to heart attacks andother untreated diseases. For example, black people are three to four times more likely than white people to have high blood pressure and twice as likely as the white population to die of a stroke (中风).New research has found out the surprisingly high levels of salt in many of black people’s favorite meals. I stopped putting extra salt in my food at the table long ago and I try to cut down on the salt. I use in cooking. The suggested daily level of salt for adults is 6 grams. An average salad with rice and peas has 6.2 grams of salt. This is more salt than you are supposed to eat for the whole day.A researcher talked about the importance of home cooking rather than take-outs.

抓住四个"W"和一个"H",就是边读边用铅笔做些标记,把What (事件),When (时间),Where(地点),Why(原因),How(经过)划出来。

Passage 1Many people travel to different places in the world by air. Usually it takes a long time, perhaps half a day, for passengers to stay in the plane. So airlines(航空公司) offer passengers food. But it is common that they feel bad about food taste. Do you agree? To solve this problem, airlines try hard to improve their food. They would like to do so because they don't want to lose customers. However, according to scientific research, part of the reason why plane food tastes bad is that at high altitude(海拔) we can not taste things as well as we do on the ground. Also scientists have found that our noses become very dry even before a plane takes off. As the plane moves up, the change in air pressure(气压) reduces one third of the sensibility(感觉) of our taste buds(味蕾). So our taste buds become senseless. The sad fact, however, is that our noses don't know it.All of these help explain why food on the plane tastes so bad. They also help explain why airlines choose to offer passengers salty and spicy(辛辣的) food. Without doing so, the food would be tasteless. Now there are many researches on this. According to one of them, some volunteers are asked to lie with their feet higher than their heads for weeks. And scientists write down their feelings about food taste.Though scientists try their best, it is not as easy as they thought. Because they can't deal with the special environment successfully, such as the change in air pressure, making food taste good is still hard for them.()1. What do students of your age eat for lunch at school in other countries?JapanHigh schools have dining rooms. They serve everything from noodles to rice, but not burgers and chips. Other children bring food from home, such as cold rice balls, meat or fish, pickles(泡菜)and vegetables. Twice a year parents are invited to have a taste of the food.United StatesA typical menu from a US school is made up of a hamburger with fried potatoes or roast chicken, lettuce and pickles, fruit and cookies. School lunches must also provide at least one third of the daily amount(总量)of necessary nutrition(营养),such as, vitamin A, vitamin C and calcium(钙).AustraliaMeat pies, sausage rolls(香肠卷)and hotdogs are all traditional dishes in Australian school shops. But as the country pays more attention to children's health, healthier foods have started to appear on school menus. Many schools have used a traffic light system. The sale of red labeled(标注)foods, including cookies, chocolate and soft drinks, is served only twice a week. Healthier green labeled foods such as sushi, sandwiches, corn and watermelons, however, are available every day.South AfricaMost of South African schools do not serve meals at all. Classes end at 1:30 p.m. and students get their own lunches. Many students bring food from home, usually sandwiches.Fast food and fried food sell the best among students. As a result, it has caused a rise in obesity(肥胖)among children. But as more people began to realize that being too fat may cause different kinds of serious illnesses, some schools in towns have led the way towards better nutrition. But she knew she was right. In protest,_Hadjara refused to eat dinner that night. After her father questioned Hadjara's head teacher, he understood the importance of hand-washing and his daughter's intentions(目的). But what is health? “Health”means eating well, getting enough exercise, and having a healthy weight. Let’s read the following rules. They can help you stay healthy.(1) Eat a variety of food, especially fruit and vegetables. We all know that eating fruit and vegetables can help us stay healthy, but many of us only eat our favorite food. Remember that we can only get the nutrition(营养) we need by eating different kinds of food, espe cially fruit and vegetables.(2) Drink water and milk most often. A recent study by the Chinese University of Hong Kong has discovered another saying: An apple a day keeps old age away. The study involved fruit flies(g果蝇), as they share many genes(基因) withhumans. Researchers gave one group of fruit flies normal food, and another group of fruit flies got the same food including apple. The results showed that flies that ate apple lived an average of 55 days longer than the flies that didn’t eat apple. The study also found that apple-eating flies were more able to walk, climb and move about as they became old, the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry reports. The researchers believe that the antioxidants (抗氧化剂)found in apples are good for health. In another experiment, researchers studied the diets of thousands of women. They found that those women who often ate apples were 20 percent less likely to have heart disease.Scientists have recently discovered the apple’s genetic code(基因代码). This allows scientists to make new kinds of fruit that are healthier. Researchers are already using this information to grow apples with added antioxidants. Antioxidants help to keep eyes and joints (关节)healthy and protect against heart attacks and cancer.Apples that help people lose weight may be in supermarkets in just four or five years. From the pictures, the scientists can often say how the weather will change.Today, nearly five hundred weather stations in sixty countries receive satellite pictures. When they receive new pictures, the meteorologists compare (比较)them with earlier ones. Perhaps they may find that the clouds have changed during the last few hours. This may mean that the weather on the ground may soon change, too. In their next weather forecast, the meteorologists can say this.So the weather satellites are a great help to the meteorologists. In a sense, they are spending a large amount of time in fruitless efforts (努力) as they multitask.Multitasking is even changing the relationship between family members. As young people give so much attention to their own worlds, they seem to have no time to spend with the other people around them. They can no longer greet family members when they enter the house, nor can they eat at the family table.Multitasking also has an effect (影响) on young people’s performance at university and in the workplace. When asked about their opinions of the effects of modern gadgets (器具) on their performance of tasks, many young people gave a positive (肯定的) response (回应). However, the response from the worlds of education and business was not quite as positive. Educators feel that multitasking by children has a serious effect on later development of study skills.
