Among countless factors that influencechildren's growth, the behavior of adults plays asignificant role in shaping children's inclination andcharacter. After the baby is born, the first and thenearest adults are his/her parents. Although thebaby is just slur pronunciation, the little baby hasstarted to learn from their parents by observing and copying the adults' talk. This learningenvironment is important for the babies. There is a special case reported by the press. A baby was abandoned when she was born. Asow fed her as a piglet. When she was about eight years old, some villagers found her, herintelligence was just similar to the two-year old baby and all of her behaviors were looked like apig. From this case, we know child is a "mirror" which will reflect the behavior of the closetadults.Along with the children's growth, adults will influence them much more, such as logicalthinking, making decision, cooperation with others, etc.. The behavior of adults can givechildren both good and bad influence. Most of the behaviors represent adults' inclination. Forinstance, if media report chiefly on the shadow side of the society, children will easily incline toviolence and excessive sex. Therefore, they will be infected with bad mental state.Behavior is a direct and convincing method to teach children. Things are easier said thandone. Parents always tell children those principles repeatedly, but most children can not acceptit through these boring method. Adults' behavior is the most effective education method tolet them observe the whole process of how to deal with the problems. The children will learnfrom you naturally.Children are like young trees, they need to be carefully irrigated, fertilized and trimmed.Your behavior will be greatly helpful to shape them into useful talents.雅思大作文题目:some people say that the subject ofinternational news should be taught insecondary school, other people say that it is awaste of valuable school time, discuss bothsides and give your opinion. We know that a lot of fundamental and usefulsubjects, such as mathematics, languages, chemistryand physics had been applied in secondary school fora long period. But nowadays, some people proposethat the subject of international news should also betaught in secondary school. For my part, I think, before we add a new subject to our secondary school education system, both advantages anddisadvantages of the subject need to be considered deliberately. On one hand, the subject of international news really bring about a lot of benefits to thesecondary school students. To be a modern and open-mind person, the knowledge of basicscience will not adequate for his or her future career, other kinds of knowledge, such as theknowledge of society, the knowledge of laws is also required in his or her practical work, otherwise, he orshe will meet lots of problems that he or she could not handle. Consequently, secondary school is supposed to play not only the function of providing students withsystematic and disciplined basic science knowledge, but also play the function of helpingstudents to be more social, more open-mind and more competent in their practical work. Wecould hardly imagine that a modern person claim no idea about the great event happened inthe world. So, it is quite reasonable to add the subject of international news in secondaryschool to make the students more competitive for the society. On the other hand, spending too much time on the subjects irrelevant with basic sciencecould be regarded as a waste of valuable school time for the students in certaincircumstance. We know that the main function that secondary school play is to help studentlay a solid literature foundation and provide them with necessary preparation for his futureeducation (university,college,etc.). Accordingly, secondary school is supposed to put their focuson the content and improvement of teaching basic science. As for social subjects, such asinternational news, the educators and school managers need to arrange a proper portion oftime in teaching them and provide students with a more reasonable and perfect secondaryschool system. In conclusion, the subject of international news need to be taught in secondary schoolbecause of its great importance, however, it is plausible to teach this subject at a properportion of time. Topic: Function of education. (Academic subjectsand other subjects)Thesis: Schools should make a balance betweenboth ratherthan only emphasizes on academiclearning. What is the most significant factor in influencingthe shaping of characters and personality of a child?Do academic subjects really render everythingnecessary for children's all-round development? Most schools put major emphasis onacademic teaching because it is believed that academic subjects can guarantee better futurecareers. However, in fact, other subjects such as literature, music and sports, are more crucialto children's development for they can give children many things beyond academic learning, including teamwork spirit, endurance and healthy physical body.It is true that academic subjects can teach children some fundamental knowledge andthey can get further education and skills with such knowledge. But I don’t think academiclearning can necessarily ensure better future careers. Academic learning is like the fundamentalstructure of architecture, it can only be improved and perfected by some other decorations, andthat means it is supplementary subjects that can refine a child's development.Learning literature can make children sensitive to things around them and teach them to becareful observers; music can tell children how to relax them selves and get inspirations throughthe power of it; sports can build strong wills and bodies for children for it shows to them thespirit of endurance and teamwork. We know that all these qualities are badly needed inchildren's social lives in the future, especially when they get along or work with other people, when they confront difficulties or obstacles, and so on.What our society needs are not people who know nothingbesides their textbooks, butpeople who know how to apply what they learn, know how to appreciate and endure in theirlives, that means people with full sensibilities and practical skills; all these are not things childrencan learn from academic subjects. In conclusion, I think schools should reach a balance between academic subjects andother ones, so that we can expect new generations with all-round development.。

Both groups feel that not only competition for university places but also social stereotyping plays a role here; that is, if a more gender-balanced workforce were visible, then more young people would feel that it would be socially acceptable for them to follow suit and enter professions that are traditionally associated with the opposite sex.I agree with these arguments but the correction of gender inequality and imbalance in the workplace cannot take place in the universities only — changes should also be made in society as a whole, including education at the pre-university level. Furthermore, the sudden imposition of a rigid 50/50 genderbalance in university classes, where there is usually, say, an 80/20 male/female ratio, would probably result in many highly qualified and highly motivated males losing out to some females who were not very academically qualified for those courses and possibly not very interested in pursuing those professions. On the other hand, if the last 1.0% of class allotments in heavily imbalanced classes were reserved for the 'minority’ sex, and if academic standards were not drastically compromised in the process, then I believe society would benefit.

What is your opinion? As university education is the last stage before the starting of career, many people believe that it prepares students for employment only, but the fact is that it serves a lot many purposes. In this essay I shall discuss the various functions of a university.Universities provide specialised education in fields such as medical, engineering, commerce etc. They provide library facilities, which support the curriculum. They provide laboratory facilities for science and technology related subjects. They send students to factories and industries so that they get practical e某perience. This job-oriented training helps them to understand the working conditions and also gives them an idea about competition in themarket. They also create job opportunities for the students by arranging campus interviews. On the other hand, universities also perform other functions which help the students in their personal life. They organise co-curricular activities such as cultural programmes, sports, debates, fairs etc. They gain many qualities such as self-confidence and positive attitude, which help them in their future life. Moreover, some people just go to university for gaining knowledge just out of interest for the subject. For e某ample, a doctor may want to learn French language just for interest in the language.Furthermore, a university is a place to know more about the world because there are students from across the globe in a university. For many, who may never travel abroad, this may be a chance of a lifetime for them to broaden their horizons and know more about the different cultures of the world. For e某ample, in LPU ( Lovely Professional University), there are 200 students from Malaysia, Korea and other parts of the world. To put it in a nutshell, I pen down saying that, universities do not simply prepare a person for employment, but also have many other functions. More and more students choose to move to other oversea countries to have the higher education. Does the trend bring more benefits than disadvantages? What is your opinion? An increasing number of Chinese students choose to have their higher education abroad. A heated discussion is triggered by thebenefits and disadvantages that overseas education brings. In my opinion, although pursuing higher education in other countries may have some drawbacks, it would bring us more benefits.Firstly, the ability to master a foreign language and appreciate other cultures could make us more competitive in the face of a globalizing world. A popular theory states that the best way to learn a different language is to spend a lengthy amount of time in the surroundings where the language is spoken. The possibility of broadening foreign language skills increases greatly when forced to communicate in such a way as different from their own. In addition, students who live under the confines of foreign culture develop the sense of a greater perspective of the world around them, and the ability to understand societal differences.Secondly, many universities in other countries enjoy renowned reputations that provide a substantially higher quality of education. If students immerse themselves into such academic environments, they are e某posed to the greatest minds of a certain field and chances that may sparkle brilliant insights.Last but not least, studying abroad removes you from the normal support network that you are accustomed to back at home. While being away from friends and family can seem daunting, it is also a chance for you to hone your own skills and gain some independence. One major aspect of being an independent adult is having the ability to manage your own finances. Furthermore, living in a new country also forces you to familiarize yourself with the various living e某penses. Understanding how to manage your e某penses will especially be beneficial when you no longer rely on the support of your family.Despite of some challenges international students may face suchas homesickness and financial burden, studying abroad could reward students with e某cellent chances that lead them to a brighter future. Some people saythat teaching foreign languages to children in primary school is good and the advantages of teaching foreign language early outweigh the disadvantages. Some people believe parents should teach their children to be good members of society, but I and others think school is the main place for this to be taught. The main reason why I think schools should primarily be responsible for teaching children to be good members of societyis that children spend more time at school with teachers than with their parents. The children are also in a formal learning environment. This combination provides more opportunities for teachers to show children how to behave as good members of society. The teachers can also ensure that all the children have the same chance to learn the same things about being good members of society. If parents are made more responsible for teaching their children to be good members of society, then many parents might find they do not have the time for this. Parents have many responsibilities such as work and taking care of the home. Of course, many parents will naturally prefer to do other things with their children, such as having fun and visiting places of interest. In addition, some parents might not be as experienced as teachers at teaching children, so the children might not learn as well as at school. There will always be plenty of parents who have the time, willingness and abilityto teach their children to be good members of society. However, many more will find it difficult and need extra help. Some will ask other parents or consult books or websites. I do not think there is anything wrong with this, but we should not assume that all parents will do it.In summary, I think parents will often teach their children to be good members of society, but this should mainly be done at schools.(294 words)名师点题剑桥雅思8作文(二)参考范文 2——建议是父母I think that the main responsibility for teaching children tobe good members of society lies with parents rather than schools and shall outline my reasons in this essay.I think that most parents know their children well enough to be able to teach them to be good members of society. At school, children are often in large classes and therefore do not receive so much individual attention. When teaching children to be good members of society, I think that this individual attention is important, because some will have learnt about membership of society and others not. The parents will generally know this and be able to fill a ny missing gaps in their child’s knowledge.Secondly, parents and their children will probably spend more time together in a variety of social situations, whereas teachers and their students spend most of their time together in the classroom. The variety of social situations gives the parents more teaching opportunities, for example while shopping, at public events and at family gatherings. Of course, these opportunities give children the chance to learn to be good members of society from other adults, not only from their parents.Thirdly, I believe that schools and teachers should focus on academic subjects. There is often little enough time for these at schools, so making parents responsible for non- academic things, such as teaching children to become good members of society is a good idea. However, there will be opportunities for teachers to point out in class how children can be good members of society, for example when teaching children about the environment. To conclude, I think there are clear advantages in having both parents and schools teach children how to be good members of society, but parents should take most of the responsibility.(294 words)更多剑8写作范文,请点击:剑8雅思写作范文。

In China, the phrase "读万卷书,行万里路" (dú wàn juǎn shū, xíng wàn lǐ lù) translate s to "read ten thousand books and travel ten thousand miles," emphasizing the importance of education and exploration.

IELTS7 Test1You should spend 40 minutes on this task.write about the following topic:It is generally believed that some people are born with certain talents, for instance for sport or music, and others are not. however, it is sometimes claimed that any child can be taught to become a good sports person or musician.Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.Write at least 250 words. The relative importance of natural talent and training is a frequent topic of discussion when people try to explain different levels of ability in, for example, sport, art or music.Obviously, education systems are based on the belief that all children can effectively be taught to acquire different skills, including those associated with sport, art or music. So from our own school experience, we can find plenty of evidence to support the view that achild can acquire these skills with continued teaching and guided practice. However, some people believe that innate talent is what differentiates a person who has been trained to play a sport or an instrument, from those who become good players. In other words, there is more to the skill than a learned technique, and this extra talent cannot be taught, no matter how good the teacher or how frequently a child practices.I personally think that some people do have talents that are probably inherited via their genes. Such talents can give individuals a facility for certain skills that allow them to excel, while more hard-working students never manage to reach a comparable level. But, as with all questions of nature versus nurture, they are not mutually exclusive. Good musicians or artists and exceptional sports stars have probably succeeded because of both good training and natural talent. Without the natural talent, continuous training would be neither attractive nor productive, and without thetraining, the child would not learn how to exploit and develop their talent. In conclusion, I agree that any child can be taught particular skills, but to be really good in areas such as music, art or sport, then some natural talent is required. IELTS10 Test1It is important for children to learn the difference between right and wrong at an early age. Punishment is necessary to help them learn this distinction. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion? What sort of punishment should parents and teachers be allowed to use to teach good behavior to children? One important stage in a child’s growth is certainlythe development of a conscience, which is linked to the ability to tell right from wrong. This skill comes with time and good parenting, and my firm conviction is that punishment does not have much of a role to play in this. Therefore I have to disagree almost entirely with the given statement. To some extent the question depends on the age of the child. To punish a very young child is both wrong andfoolish, as an infant will not understand what is happening or why he or she is being punished. Once the age of reason is reached however, a child can be rewarded for good behavior and discouraged from bad. This kind but firm approach will achieve more than harsh punishments, which might entail many negative consequences unintended by the parents. To help a child learn the difference between right and wrong, teachers and parents should firstly provide good role modelling in their own behavior. After that, if sanctions are needed, the punishment should not be of a physical nature, as that merely sends the message that it is acceptable for larger people to hit smaller ones-an outcome which may well result in the child starting to bully others. Nor should the punishment be in any way cruel.Rather, teachers and parents can use a variety of methods to discipline their young charges, such as detention, withdrawal of privileges, and time-out. Making the punishment fit the crime is a useful notion. Which would see children being made to pick uprubbish they have dropped, clean up graffiti they have drawn, or apologise to someone they have hurt. In these ways responsibility is developed in the child, which leads to much better future behavior than does punishment.IELTS10 Test2Some people think that all university students should study whatever they like. Others believe that they should only be allowed to study subjects that will be useful in the future, such as those related to science and technology.Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. People have different views about how much choice students should have with regard to what they can study at university. While some argue that it would be better for students to be forced into certain key subject areas, I believe that everyone should be able to study the course of their choice. There are various reasons why people believe that universities should only offer subjects that will be useful in the future. They may assert that university courses like medicine, engineering and information technology aremore likely to be beneficial than certain art degrees. From a personal perspective, it can be argued that these courses provide more job opportunities, career progression, better salaries, and therefore an improved quality of life for students who take them. On the societal level, by forcing people to choose particular university subjects, governments can ensure that any knowledge and skill gaps in the economy are covered. Finally, a focus on technology in higher education could lead to new inventions, economic growth, and greater future prosperity. In spite of these arguments, I believe that university students should be free to choose their preferred areas of study. In my opinion, society will benefit more if our students are passionate about what they are learning. Besides, nobody can really predict which areas of knowledge will be most useful to society in the future, and it may be that employers begin to value creative thinking skills above pr act ical or technical skills. If this were the case, perhaps we would need more students of art, history and philosophy than of science or technology. In conclusion, although it might seem sensible foruniversities to focus only on the most useful subjects, I personally prefer the current system in which people have the right to study whatever they like.IELES 8Some people think that parents should teach children how to be good members of society. Others, however, believe that school is the place to learn this.Discuss both views and give your own opinion.A child's education has never been about learning information and basic skills only. It has always included teaching the next generation how to be good members of society. Therefore, this cannot be the responsibility of the parents alone. In order to be a good member of any society the individual must respect and obey the rules of their community and share their values. Educating children to understand the need to obey rules and respect others always begins in the home and is widely thought to be the responsibility of parents. They will certainly be the first to help children learn what is important in life, how they are expected to behave and what role they will play in their world. However, learning to understand and share the valuesystem of a whole society cannot be achieved just in the home. Once a child goes to school they are entering a wider community where teachers and peers will have just as much influence as their parents do at home. At school, children will experience working and living with people from a whole variety of backgrounds from the wider society. This experience should teach them how to co-operate with each other and how to contribute to the life of their community. But to be a valuable member of any community is not like learning a simple skill. It is something that an individual goes on learning throughout life and it is the responsibility for every member of a society to take responsibility for helping the younger generation to become active and able members of that society.IELTS 9 Test1Some experts believe that it is better for children to begin learning a foreign language at primary school rather than secondary school. Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages?Traditionally, children have begun studying foreign languages at secondary school, but introducing themearlier is recommended by some educationalists. This policy has been adopted by some educational authorities or individual schools, with both positive and negative outcomes. The obvious argument in its favour is that young children pick up languages much more easily than teenagers. Their brains are still programmed to acquire their mother tongue, which facilitates learning another language, and unlike adolescents, they are not inhibited by self-consciousness.The greater flexibility of the primary timetable allows for more frequent, shorter sessions and for a play-centred approach, thus maintaining learners’ enthusiasm and progress. Their command of the language in later life will benefit from this early exposure, while learning other languages subsequently will be easier for them. They may also gain a better understanding of other cultures. There are, however, some disadvantages. Primary school teachers are generalists, and may not have the necessary language skills themselves. If specialists have to be brought in to deliver these sessions, the flexibility referred to above is diminished. If primary languageteaching is not standardised, secondary schools could be faced with a great variety of levels in different languages within their intake, resulting in a classroom experience which undoes the earlier gains. There is no advantage if enthusiastic primary pupils become demotivated as soon as they change schools. However, these issues can be addressed strategically within the policy adopted. Anything which encourages language learning benefits society culturally and economically, and early exposure to language learning contributes to this. Young childre n’s innate abilities should be harnessed to make these benefits more achievable.。

In some countries, secondary schools aim to provide a general education across a range of subjects. In others, children focus on a narrow range of subjects related to a particular career. Which do you think is appropriate in today's world? In some countries, secondary schools provide a general education across a wide range of subjects. Other countries offer a much narrower range of subjects which are related to a particular career. I think the trends is most students would spend more time on fewer areas to increase the chances of having a successful career. With the more liberal approach in which students are exposed to a wide range of subjects, students often acquire other areas of interest than those they might have had originally. For example, a student who may have originally been interested to study to become a doctor might find that he is more interested in becoming a writer when he is exposed to those subjects in a secondary school that provides a general education. So, those who argue for schools to offer a wider range of subjects will maintain that young students should be exposed to a larger range of subjects before making life decisions regarding the pursuit of a career. On the other hand, the schools offering a narrower and more specific range of subjects will maintain that all of those non-related classes are non-essential, maybe even a waste of time. For example, if a person wants to study to be an accountant, there are fewer benefits of requiring him to take a biology course.Today's world is a specialized world and it is understandable why many secondary schools are now focusing on a narrower path of subjects in training students for future careers and professions. Although some students will benefit from a wider selection of subjects in determining a career path, most students will opt for the fastest and most direct path available. Some people say that art subjects such as painting or drawing should not be made compulsory for high school students. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Some people say that compulsory subjects should not include the ones related to art such as painting or drawing for high school students. My opinion is that learning from art subjects willcertainly benefit students, so there is a need to make these subjects compulsory. Those people who say that art courses should not be compulsory contend that students should not be required to study a subject unless they have an interest in that subject. Those people often classify study of art as a waste of valuable time. They tend to question the benefit of studying a subject that a student never intends to use.The people who speak on behalf of requiring students to study art maintain that a student can benefit from being exposed to new subjects and new areas of study. All people have a practical side and a creative side. Even though a student intends to be an accountant, he might also find that he enjoys more creative activities such as painting, drawing, acting, singing, or dancing. So an effective way is that schools can introduce students to art activities that those students may enjoy, even if those activities are not related to their major course of study.Although some students may object to having to take art courses in which they are not interested, those courses will expose them to different areas of study. Even if the student continues to be less interested in the arts, perhaps they will acquire an appreciation for those who pursue those areas of study. It is important for young students to be well-rounded and well-versed, even if through a compulsory course. The best way to teach children to cooperate is through team sports at school. Some people believe that a country can benefit a lot from university education. Others believe that sending a large number of young students to go to university leads to unemployment. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

(Band 9):Admittedly, the universal admission of every youngster into the university is likely to place the community into a risk of high unemployment, in the short run. In an age of economy declining, theshrinking number of job opportunities fails to meet ever-expanding requirements of employment of the overpopulation in university graduates. The worse thing is, young people with high-education background always have high anticipation about their future jobs, for example, bright careers in high-grade office buildings with decent salaries. In comparison, in their eyes, jobs like blue collars engaging in manual labors are viewed to be too dislikable and disgraceful to try. Therefore, they prefer to stay in unemployment rather than go into those low-level job vacancies. However, to a large extent, I still believe it is reasonable to encourage the youth to receive university education, because which brings overall benefits to a whole society. Firstly, on the personal level, university education plays a leading role in shaping youngsters as good workers. For example, professional knowledge, technological skills, and advanced theories and cognitions acquired in the university can make a student fully competent in practical jobs, with high efficient productivity. In addition, on the social level, universities are hatchers for new ideas and technologies that can change our lives positively. Such examples about big companies innovated in campus originally, like Yahoo, Google and Facebook created by young students of the university which had brought great convenience for human’s informationsearching and communication and had offered hundreds of thousands of new jobs to the public, would come to my mind, immediately. In conclusion, it is obvious that the advantages of university education overweigh its disadvantages. Although a high expectation about job conditions among young graduates might reduce their possibility of employment, the great contributions universities make to improving the working performance of young employees, as well as to bettering our society, should never be underestimated.(316)题目2:学生是否该监督和批评老师Many people argue that in order to improve educational quality continuously, students are encouraged to make comments or even criticism on teachers. Others think the respect and discipline in the classroom will disappear. Which opinion do you prefer?

The question of education's primary goal has been a subject of debate for centuries. Some contend that the primary goal of education should be to nurture intellectual curiosity and foster a lifelong love of learning. Others argue that education should prioritize equippingindividuals with实用 skills and knowledge, preparing them for the demands of the modern workforce. Those who advocate for intellectual curiosity as the primary goal of education emphasize the transformative power of learning. They believe that education shouldignite a passion for knowledge, instilling a thirst for discovery and exploration. By immersing students in a world of ideas, educators can cultivate critical thinking skills, encourage creativity, and foster a lifelong appreciationfor the pursuit of knowledge. On the other hand, proponents of实用 education argue that the primary goal of education should be to prepare individuals for the challenges of the job market. This may be true to some extent, because a DVD player is often more expensive than a bookshelf. However, with immense storage capacity, these new high-tech media can actually save the most valuable resource-space. A computer disc 12 cm in diameter canstore a whole Encyclopedia Britannia which,in printed volumes, would occupy a complete shelf section.Furthermore, magnetic and digital media can store information much longer than traditional means. It takes great care to protect books from moisture, fire or human damage and a book in a library serves readers for only a few hundred years. But digital files, easily duplicated and restored, can perhaps last forever. Finally, visiting a library with multiple media access is much more interesting. Multimedia resources offer readers a dynamic combination of images, sounds and videos. A reader can actually hear Martin Luther King crying out “I have a dream”,or roam about the world with an interactive atlas. To sum up, a public library has been turned by modern technology from a place of lending and borrowing books into an interactive center for the spread of human knowledge and experience. Governments can invest more in multimedia facilities bya public library。

As someone who has received a good education, I can attest to its importance in shaping my future and providing me with opportunities that I may not have had otherwise. One of the most significant benefits of education is the ability to develop critical thinking skills. Through the process of learning, we are taught how to analyze and evaluate information, which is an essential skill in many fields. This skill not only helps us in our careers but also in everyday life, as we are constantly bombarded with information that we need to make sense of.Another benefit of education is the opportunity to expand our knowledge and broaden our horizons. By learning about different subjects and cultures, we can gain a betterunderstanding of the world around us and become more empathetic and open-minded individuals. For example, I took a course on African history in college, and it completely changed my perspective on the continent and its people. Finally, education can provide us with the tools we need to achieve our goals and pursue our passions.

Some people think adults should learn practical skills by themselves, while others think they should learn with teachers in the classroom. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. There is no doubt that adults should keep learning new skills to remain competitive in the workplace. Whether they should learn these skills by themselves or with teachers is a topic to debate.Self-learning means that learners would have a flexible schedule without the limit of time and space. Most adults have a family to support and their work may keep them busy every day. It is difficult for them to allocate a fixed time slot to take part in a training course. Unlike children, adults have more self-contro l and discipline, which makes it possible for them to learn by themselves in their spare time. Besides, some people prefer self-learning rather than classroom learning, because the latter tends to place an emphasis on theoretical knowledge. On the other hand, some people advocate learning with teachers in formal training classes. Qualified teachers would help students learn in a fast and systematic way. When people learn practical skills, experience isparticular important. The teacher’s guidance would help students avoid making mistakes and wasting time. In a training class, the students would know some classmates and wasting time. In a training class, the students would know some classmates, who would become their personal resources in their future careers. In my opinion, when an adult decides to learn a certain skill, he or she should take various factors into consideration. Self-learning is more suitable for people whose time and finance is limited, but more discipline is required in this pattern. For those who can afford the time and money, attending a training class would be a more effective way to learn practical skills, particularly complicated skills which are difficult to learn by students themselves.

They say that academic subjects are rooted in the past, and are not useful for solving modern problems. I disagree with this point of view for three reasons. My first reason is that it is the duty of parents, not teachers, to prepare their children to deal with the practical affairs of life. The home, not the classroom, is the ideal place to learn about home management and interpersonal skills. As for work abilities and attitudes, they are best learned “on the job” and under thesupervision of an experienced older worker. My second reason is that academic subjects have withstood the test of time. They represent the accumulated wisdom of our ancestors down through the ages, and, far from being impractical, they equip us with the knowledge and confidence to make sound judgements about any problems which may crop up. In addition, academic subjects are good for training us in mental discipline, while practical subjects are weak in this regard. My third reason is based on the saying “Man does not live by bread alone.” Schooldays devoted solely to instruction in down-to-earth practical __ would be dull indeed! Lessons in the best literature of the world, and the epoch-making scientific and geographical discoveries of the past enrich our lives and make us feel that we are part of the great family of mankind. All in all, the teaching of academic subjects in schools is entirely appropriate. It is my firmly held view that practical subjects have no place in the classroom. On the contrary, the curriculum should be more academic! 2Some people believe that children leisure activities must be educational, otherwise they are a plete waste of time.Do you agree or disagree?Model Answer:Today, education has e a priority for many parents seeking to secure a good future for their children in this rapidly changing world. They believe that if their children apply themselves and work hard at school, then they will increase their opportunities for going to higher education and eventually getting a good job. Of course they are right, and as access to the best education and best jobs is ing more petitive, then it is true that children have to make the best of their study time when they are young. However, the parents who do not allow their children sufficient free time for leisure activities outside school hours, are misguided. Such activities are far from being a waste of time for the children simply because they are not academic. It is important to remember that children need to develop skills other than intellectual ones, and the best way to do this is through activities such as sports, games and playing with other kids. If they cannot play make-believe games, how can they develop their imagination? How can they learn physical co-ordination or learn important social lessons about winning and losing if they do not practise any sports? Many children form strong, personalrelationships with the friends they play with, and without the opportunity to do this, they could grow up emotionally immature or unformed. Finally, I think it is also important to remember that children need to relax as well as work. If everything they do must have some educational or academic relevance, then they will soon get tired of studying altogether, which is the last thing parents would want. 3Going overseas for university study is an exciting prospect for many people. But while it may offer some advantages, it is probably better to stay home because of the difficulties a student inevitably encounters living and studying in a different culture. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? Model Answer:There is no doubt that going to study in a foreign country, with its different language and culture, can be a frustrating and sometimes painful experience. But while overseas study has its drawbacks, the difficulties are far outweighed by the advantages. Indeed, people who go abroad for study open themselves up to experiences that those who stay at home will never have. The most obvious advantage to overseas university study is real-life use of a different language. While a person can study a foreign language in his or her own country, it cannot pare with constant use of the language in academic and everyday life. There is no better opportunity to improve second-language skills than living in the country in which it is spoken. Moreover, having used the language during one's studies offers a distinct advantage when one is applying for jobs back home that require the language. On a university campus, the foreign student is not alone in having e from far away. He or she will likely encounter many others from overseas and it is possible to make friends from all around the world. This is not only exciting on a social level, but could lead to important overseas contacts in later professional life. Finally, living and studying abroad offers one a new and different perspective of the world and, perhaps most important, of one's own country. Once beyond the initial shock of being in a new culture, the student slowly begins to get a meaningful understanding of the host society. On returning home, one inevitably sees one's own country in a new, often more appreciative, light. In conclusion, while any anxiety about going overseas for university study is certainly understandable, it is important to remember that the benefits offered by the experience make it well worthwhile.。

In many countries, good schools and medical facilities are available only in cities. Some people think university graduates who become new teachers and doctors should work in rural areas for a few years. What is your view?
Most of the rural areas are in low qualities of schools and medical facilities while the urban areas are in good qualities of those facilities. As a result, some people hold a view that students majored in teaching and medicine should contribute themselves to countries for certain amount of years after graduated from university. In my opinion, I believe that there are numbers of advantages of students working in countryside.
I do believe that graduated students only working in urban areas do not suffer from the poor conditions in countryside such as no lightings, electricity or clean water, and it could make them more concentrate on their works.
However, in current society, graduates could easily attain a job in a country while tremendous competitions are in almost every city as there
are considerable amounts of graduated students aspiring to find a good job in urban areas. Therefore, it can obviously relieve the serious stress and decrease the unemployment rate if the new teachers and doctors are encouraged to get a position in rural areas. Moreover, working in countryside could be a precious experience as great advantages including patience, hard working and responsibility are cultivated while graduates only working in cities may not own these outstanding spirits.
In conclusion, I think university graduates becoming new teachers and doctors should be encouraged to attain a position in rural areas as there are some certain advantages to help graduated students building their inside qualities and deal with the serious social problems in term of employment.
