The Film Comment of Slumdog MillionaireThe film opens as Jamal Malik, a former street child from the slums, was tortured by two Mumbai policemen. The film is organized into two mixed plots. And then we get this is a story of Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, who was about to experience the special day of his life. With the whole nation watching, he just answered the question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India's "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" But when the show breaks for a night, police arrested him on suspicion of cheating; how could a street kid know so much? The police asked Jamal how he came to know the answer to a question, and Jamal replied by recounting an incident in his life, told in flashbacks. Desperate to prove his innocence, Jamal telled the story of his life in the slum where he and his brother grew up, of their adventures together on the road, of vicious encounters with local gangs, and of Latika, the girl he loved and lost. Each chapter of his story revealed the key to the answer to one of the game show's questions. Intrigued by Jamal's story, the jaded Police Inspector begins to wonder what a young man with no apparent desire for riches is really doing on this game show? When the new day dawns and Jamal returned to answer the final question, the Inspector and sixty million viewers are about that if he could be the Millionaire.GenreDepend on the basis of subject matter, formal properties, style or affective response. We can define Slumdog Millionaire as a Social Drama, Romance, and Comedy. We know that drama is a category comprising serious films that portray character in conflict with themselves, others, or foces o f nature. Social drama, whose narrative concern or conflict is a social problem -poverty, inequality, discrimination, racism, or exclusion. Slumdog Millionaire can be classified as a social drama, with the social problem at its heart being so called abduction of children, classism, religious conflict, and the rich and the polarization. In Jamal's life, he faced his mother killed by heretic; he and his brother abducted by the bad man; and he was laughed because he was tea worker. From another point of view, like many of the great love stories, the Slumdog Millionaire is Romance film, which means that its narrative centers on the romantic involvement of the maincharacters, the development of their relationship, and the obstacles they faced. Like all the romance film, the Slumdog Millionaire bases on they met each other in childhood, they faced involuntary separation, financial difficulty. The love can be power to stand in the stage of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" for Latika But they defeated the circumstance beyond their control, and then would live happily forever. The essence of the way they followed is the "force opposed to love" that by presenting obstacle to the lovers turns the love affair into a story. Thirdly, it also own some comedy elements in it. From the farce of the two brothers, such as, when Jamal answered the call of nature, Salim closed the door. For another plot, the people danced at the train station. Also, it ended with a happy ending.Character and PerformanceEvery character has their feature .I will introduce the two brothers. Jamal, the minor character, he is a kind man. In order to get an idol signature can jump into cesspit. He wouldn't discard partner. After escaped, he still went back and looked for the friends who trapped in the gang. He loved Latika no matter how time and the environment changes, he still loved her as Forrest Gump. He didn't have any brave feat, outrageous behavior, he just insisted, no abundance, didn't give up. He relied on his own efforts to meet his friends and loved ones. But the secondary character, Salim adapted to life without moral restraint, without real romantic temperament, he had the courage to killed the gang boss. He could be loyal to his younger brother in a last-minute, also could betray his brother publicly. For the money and power he can live with gang boss, he also can apprehend the truth suddenly. Perish together with bad people together, with the pursuit of money of mutually assured destruction. In that the social environment, Salim is a very typical character, the choice of the natural balance produces the man like him. I shall not be denied his survival ability is very strong. Someone said Salim too cunning, and Jamal was too naive. I feel a bit accurately described as "opportunist" and "idealist".In the movie, all the actors gave us a real performance. The act has "got inside" the character's psyche marks the performance as more authentic than other style, creating a pure presence of character unadulterated by any sense of the performer's identity. We can get easily thatthe director supply the method acting for emotional truth in the unconscious of the actor rather than in the dramatic text also lent weight to the movie emphasis on personality. I really appreciate the shape of opposition character.NarrativeFrom the beginning, the movie used the double film narrative style to the point. The whole film moved round Jamal memories. From Jamal's memories, the religious conflict, the feelings of morality, affection and love come in the form of reality, it seems that this happened near us, which we can touch. The movie using the technique of narration interspersed with flashbacks, spreading the Jamal's life experiences slowly. Such as the plot about the mother's death, and the experience of his brother. The film narrates as a story in fluent narrative. It possesses American style, with the romantic, light and fairy tale. It also has the European film humanistic feelings. I have been attracted deeply because the narrative techniques and the suspense rebirth plot.StyleSlumdog Millionaire supply low -Angle shot, high-Angle shoe and Montage technique and so on. The Montage technique's using express the feature of characters, the social reality and the emotion in a complete way. Some of plots took close-up shot to express the mood of the characters. At the beginning of the movie, shoot the police officers and Jamal in close-up shoot, through the close-up shoot of two people's faces is shrouded in smoky, showed the slums discrimination against people and equal status. Through the process of thinking and memory described, the close-up shoot let the emotion of Jamal played quite in place. The film using the vision, prone clap, lift lens photography vast slums of the overall environment, express the slums' chaos, garbage in everywhere, and messy environments. Anther we can see might be the music. In different plot supply the different musical style, some were happy, some were sad, some in quick rhythm. We also can get that the lyric express the situation in that time.Critical perspective sFor my part, about critical perspectives, I want to show my understanding from three points.Firstly, the movie exposed India, even most of the countries in history and the present situation: the rich and the polarization, money and power trading, religious conflict, class discrimination, the national machine ferocity and darkness. But for personally, the film's most memorable part might be Jamal live with Salim childhood in slums and they became orphan and lived around garbages. The most part of the film reflect the true society. But the love story becomes the light point among the evil things. And Jamal's persistence achieves the fairy love story. Beauty and ugliness in sharp contrast, suffering and laugh exists at the same time, the social culture make people frown confused, sad, and infatuate. I have no doubt that Slumdog Millionaire will encourage many more honest films to be produced in India.Secondly, I really appreciate older brother, Salim, grew up in unimaginable poverty, and their mother's tragic death during a Muslim uprising forces them to abandon school and live on the street, foraging for food and cash, and outwitting the adults who try to exploit them. Money and the desire to be a big shot motivate the tough, cynical Salim, and his hard-knocks existence leads him down a dangerous path. Maybe people would say that Salim's whole life was based on money, as we first see when Salim took and sold his brother's autographed picture for money. Money af first was to survive, but as Salim grew older Money became more powerful and was the source of greed. SO I interpreted the money in the bathtub as a symbol saying it ultimately was Money that killed him. But I don't agree with it, he lived in the slums, and he experienced the hard time in his young time, the money for a poor man is important. So the social situation leads him in this way. Maybe some of us would say, why not Jamal do it? But Salim as an elder brother, he must protect his younger brother, so he must be stronger that his young brother. I'm touched by the great brotherhood. Precisely, it’s his brother's love. Salim saved younger brother several times. In order to satisfy his younger brother to looking for the small Latika, he gave up the comfortable life in Taj Mahal. In his heart, the younger brother is the most important, even his life. For younger brother, he killed two gang boss. When they jump on the train for escaping, just put a little effort into it,he can save the little Latika, but he hesitated, finally loose his hand. Because Latika was white elephant, she will drag his brother. His younger brother is his everything for him.A key message brought in towards the end of the film is that Money is less important than love, we see this when Salim sets Latika free and sacrifices himself for the preservation of others, it canalso be seen when Jamal speaks to Latika over the phone and realising that she is safe no longer cares about the million dollar question at hand. The story line of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ is centred on the theme of Justice; the Christian view of justice is the ‘Justice of God’meaning the prevalence of sin. Justice in the film is seen from a variety of perspectives including that of sinful nature.。

Boyle

Now, I have maybe understood that what is the money being having blood and the tear especially. Everybody knows money is not omnipotent ,but, money is capable of doing anything seemingly. Money is to be linking luxurious life as if link, being linking happy love. We are hating to money, because of we are poor people , we are looking at , this brilliant rays is enlightening us to be so small and weak , we are having no choice to be looking at this brilliant rays but disappointment is matchless. We are fond of money, because of we are poor people , we want to shake off the sight being discriminated against , aspiration becomes a rich man. We are every bump against the broken scalp wanting to become a millionaire , to become upper circles , to coming down from the heights to others, correct others coming and leaving of wielding. In fact, we obj1 = humanoth ; are dallied with the share palm , are pointed to a room all by money.什么是财富,什么是金钱,不是黄金,不是钻石,不是美元,是我们的生活,是我们的追求,是我们的理想,是我们的坎坷,是我们的失败,是我们的伤心。

百万富翁电影英语观后感Watching "The Millionaire" movie was an absolute treat! It had me laughing out loud and tearing up at the same time. The story was so relatable and yet so unique, it was like a breath of fresh air in the movie world. The characters were so vivid and life-like, I felt like I was right there with them on their journey. Themillionaire himself was a bit of a mystery at first, but as the movie unfolded, I started to understand his motivations and dreams. It was inspiring to see how he used his wealthto help others and make a difference in the world. The humor in the movie was spot-on. It wasn't over-the-top or forced, but it hit just the right spot and kept me engaged throughout. The jokes and witty remarks made me laugh out loud, and I found myself quoting them later on.The emotional depth of the story also surprised me. There were moments when my heart ached for the characters, and I found myself rooting for them to succeed. The movie tackled themes of love, family, and self-discovery in a way that was both heartfelt and entertaining. In the end, "The Millionaire" left me feeling satisfied and inspired. It was a great reminder that money isn't everything, but it can certainly be used for good. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone looking for a heart.。

Slumdog Millionaire影评Slumdog Millionaire is a good movie, this is a story of Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, his life had got biggest change in a day. Jamal Malik want to change his life and take participate in the "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" Television programs, answer the question to get the winnings. When he successfully answer a series of topics, bonuses accumulated to 10 million rupees, the programs have ended, the host doubt that he cheating, called the police to take him away, At the police station, He recalled his own experiences growing up, told the police how he is to know the answer, "Everything is predestined!" Everything is predestined him answered the right answer for the last question, he become the Slumdog Millionaire, with 20 million rupees, at the same time he found his lover, had a perfect ending. After watching the whole movie, I realized that slum life is not easy through the memories of Jamal Malik. Where the child did not get a good social protection, Slumdog child's growth process is not easy. However, from the movie I saw the advantages of Jamal Malik, who he is honest, kind, and brave; never give up the struggle for their own goals.

SlumdogMillionaire(贫民窟的百万富翁)经典电影英文影评

SlumdogMillionaire(贫民窟的百万富翁)经典电影英文影评

SlumdogMillionaire(贫民窟的百万富翁)经典电影英文影评Slumdog Millionaire(贫民窟的百万富翁)2008A gaudy, gorgeous rush of color, sound and motion, “Slumdog Millionaire,” the latest from the British shape-shifter Danny Boyle, doesn’t travel through the lower depths, it giddily bounces from one horror to the next.A modern fairy tale about a pauper angling to become a prince, this sensory blowout largely takes place amid the squalor of Mumbai, India, where lost children and dogs sift through trash so fetid you swear you can smell the discarded mango as well as its pee l, or could if the film weren’t already hurtling through another picturesque gutter.Mr. Boyle, who first stormed the British movie scene in the mid-1990s with flashy entertainments like “Shallow Grave” and “Transpo r ting,” has a flair for the outré. Few ot her directors could turn a heroin addict rummaging inside a rank toilet bowl into a surrealistic underwater reverie, as he does in “Tr an spor ting,” and fewer still could do so while holding onto the character’s basic humanity. The addict, played by Ewan McG regor, emerges from his repulsive splish-splashing with a near-beatific smile (having successfully retrieved some pills), a terrible if darkly funny image that turns out to have been representative not just of Mr. Boyle’s bent humor but also of his worldview: better to swim than to sink.Swimming comes naturally to Jamal (the British actor Dev Patel in his feature-film debut), who earns a living as a chai-wallah serving fragrant tea to call-center workers in Mumbai and who, after a series of alternating exh ilarating and unnervingadventures, has landed in the hot seat on the television game show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.” Yet wh ile the story opens with Jamal on the verge of grabbing the big prize, Simon Beaufoy’s cleverly kinked screenplay, adapted from a novel by Vikas Swarup, embraces a fluid view of time and space, effortlessly shuttling between the young contestant’s past and his present, his childhood spaces and grown-up times. Here, narrative doesn’t begin and end: it flows and eddies — just like life.By all rights the texture of Jamal’s life should have been brutally coarsened by tragedy and poverty by the time he makes a grab for the television jackpot. But because “Slumdog Millionaire” is self-consciously (perhaps commercially) framed as a contemporary fairy tale cum love story, or because Mr. Boyle leans toward the sanguine, this proves to be one of the most upbeat stori es about living in hell imaginable. It’s a life that begins in a vast, vibrant, sun-soaked, jampacked ghetto, a kaleidoscopic city of flimsy shacks and struggling humanity and takes an abrupt, cruel turn when Jamal (Ayush Mahesh Khedekar), then an exuberant 7, and his cagier brother, Salim (Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail), witness the murder of their mother (Sanchita Choudhary) by marauding fanatics armed with anti-Muslim epithets and clubs.Cast into the larger, uncaring world along with another new orphan, a shy beauty named Latika (Rubina Ali plays the child, Freida Pinto the teenager), the three children make their way from one refuge to another before falling prey to a villain whose exploitation pushes the story to the edge of the unspeakable. Although ther e’s something undeniably fascinating, or at least watchable, about this ghastly interlude — the young actors arevery appealing and sympathetic, and the images are invariably pleasing even when they should not be —it’s unsettling to watch these young characters and, by extension, the young nonprofessionals playing them enact such a pantomime. It doesn’t help even if you remember that Jamal makes it out alive long enough to have his 15 televised minutes. It’s hard to hold onto any reservations in the face of Mr. Boyle’s resolutely upbeat pitch and seductive visual style. Beautifully shot with great sensitivity to color by the cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle, in both film and digital video, “Slumdog Millionaire” makes for a better viewing experience than it does for a reflective one. It’s an undeniably attractive package, a seamless mixture of thrills and tears, armchair tourism (the Taj Mahal makes a guest appearance during a sprightly interlude) and crackerjack professionalism. Both the reliably great Irrf an Khan (“A Mighty Heart”), as a sadistic detective, and the Bollywood star Anil Kapoor, as the preening game-show host, run circles around the young Mr. Patel, an agreeable enough if vague centerpiece to all this coordinated, insistently happy chaos. In the end, what gives me reluctant pause about this bright, cheery, hard-to-resist movie is that its joyfulness feels more like a filmmaker’s calculation than an honest cry from the heart about the human spirit (or, better yet, a moral tale). In the past Mr. Boyle has managed to wring giggles out of murder (“Shallow Grave”) and addiction (“Transpo r ting”), and invest even the apocalypse with a certain joie de vivre (the excellent zombie flick “28 Days Later”). He’s a blithely glib entertainer who can dazzle you with technique and, on occasion, blindside you with emotion, as he does in his underrated children’s movie, “Millions.” He plucked my heartstrings in“Slumdog Millionaire” with well-practiced dexterity, coaxing laughter and sobs out of each sweet, sour and false note. No.2 Slumdog Millionaire(贫民窟的百万富翁)2008An orphaned Mumbai slum kid tries to change his life by winning TV's 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?' in a feelgood fable from director Danny Boyle and the writer of The Full Monty, Simon BeaufoyJamal Malik ('Skins' star Dev Patel) is being beaten by Mumbai police for allegedly cheating on hit TV show 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?' One question away from the ultimate 20 million rupee prize, no one, including slick show host Prem (Anil Kapoor), believes a chai wallah (teaboy) like Jamal could know all the answers. As the tough inspector (Irfan Khan) replays Jamal's appearance on the show, it's revealed that each question corresponds to a specific life lesson from Jamal's tragic past.Raised in abject poverty in Mumbai's grimmest slum along with older brother Salim, then orphaned by a Hindu mob attack, Jamal and Salim are forced to fend for themselves on the streets through opportunistic petty crime. They pick up a young girl, fellow orphan Latika (Freida Pinto), escape the clutches of a vicious Fagin-like crime boss, lose Latika, and continue their picaresque adventures, one step ahead of the law. As adolescents, however, Salim becomes entranced by a life of crime and Latika's unexpected return sets brother against brother. Will Jamal salvage his girl, his fortune and his life on 'Millionaire'?Adapted by Full Monty writer Simon Beaufoy from Vikas Swarup's hit novel 'Q&A', Slumdog is an underdog tale. Beaufoy's lively screenplay scampers after Swarup's self-consciously Dickensian storytelling tradition, and is even built around the 'Millionaire' show, as iconic a symbol of Western capitalistentertainment as exists.Director Danny Boyle and cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle have evidently immersed themselves in India's sensory overload. The film revels in the sub-continent's chaotic beauty and raging colours, from Mumbai shantytowns to Agra's regal Taj Mahal. The thrillingly off-the-cuff digital imagery reflects a nation in a state of explosive flux, looming skyscrapers erupting from wasteland, slum kids turning into overnight millionaires through the kiss of television. The film's uniquely vibrant, headlong 21st century rush is that of the infinite possibilities of modern India itself.Slumdog's such a crowd-pleaser that some critics might brand it Boyle's best since Trainspotting . It even echoes a couple of that film's classic set pieces, notably a slum chase reminiscent of Renton and Co's opening Edinburgh dash and a lavatorial incident so stomach-churning (yet hilarious), it makes Trainspotting's infamous toilet scene seem like Ewan McGregor took an Evian bath.In fact, the likable Boyle has been on great form for some time -28 Days Later revamped the zombie movie, Millions is perhaps the best kids film of recent years. No other current British director makes such thrillingly current (all his films are set in either the present or future), kinetic, inherently visual films and proper recognition is long overdue -though, true to form, he's insistent here on crediting co-director Loveleen Tandan, whose major contribution seems to have been unearthing the wonderfully naturalistic kids to play Jamal, Salim and Latika.VerdictA spirited underdog fable marinated in modern India's melting pot. Danny Boyle's still the master of spices.。

It's all about how even people who live in poor neighborhoods canbecome really rich if they save their money and make smart choices.I learned a lot from this book, like how important it is to not just spend all the money you have. The people in the book were able to become millionaires because they didn't buy expensive things they didn't need. They lived in small houses and drove old cars, but they had a lot of money in the bank.Another thing I learned was the importance of hard work. The people in the book didn't just get rich overnight. They worked really hard at their jobs and saved up their money little by little. It showed me that if you work hard and save your money, you can achieve your dreams too.I also liked how the book showed that anyone can become a millionaire, even if they don't come from a rich family. It doesn't matter where you live or what your background is, as long as you work hard and save your money, you can achieve anything.Overall, The Millionaire Next Door in the Slums was a really inspiring book and it made me want to start saving my money and working towards my goals. The main character is a millionaire, but he doesn't show off or spend his money on fancy things. Instead, he gives back to his community and helps others who are struggling. It made me realize that being rich is not just about having a lot of money, but it's also about how you treat others and make a positive impact in the world.Overall, "The Millionaire Next Door in the Slums" is a really inspiring book that teaches valuable lessons about hard work, perseverance, and kindness. Thefilm tells the story of Jamal Malik, a young man from the slums of Mumbai who participates in the Indian version of the game show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" and ends up winning the grand prize of one million rupees. The film explores various themes such as poverty, love, and destiny. One of the most powerful aspects of the movie is its portrayal of the harsh reality of poverty in the slums of Mumbai. It shows the struggles faced by Jamal and his brother Salim as they navigate through a world filled with violence, crime, and desperation. The scenes depicting the poverty-stricken neighborhoods and the overcrowded slums were both shocking and heartbreaking. However, amidst all the hardships, the film alsohighlights the power of love and the strength of human resilience. Jamal's love for Latika, a girl he meets in the slums, becomes his driving force and motivates him to overcome all obstacles. Their love story adds a touch of romance and hope to an otherwise bleak narrative.Furthermore, the concept of destiny is intricately woven into the storyline. Jamal's knowledge and experiences from his poverty-stricken upbringing ultimately help him answer the questions on the game show, leading him to victory. This idea of destiny and how every experience in life prepares us for something greater resonated with me on a profound level.Overall, "Slumdog Millionaire" is a thought-provoking film that sheds light on the harsh realities of poverty while also celebrating the power of love and the resilience of the human spirit.
