A Listening Lesson Plan for Unit 10 of Module 4
灵宝市第一高级中学英语组刘超伟
I. Analysis of the learners
As Grade 1 students, they have mastered the basic skills and abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing. However, it is a pity for us teachers to know the fact that most of the students in Grade 1 are not good at listening and speaking compared to reading and writing. They seldom practice listening to or speaking Engl ish after class. Therefore, it’s a challenge for us to help our students be interested in listening and speaking, and then learn to how to make progress in listening and speaking. Faced with such situation, what we should do is try our best to help them form good habits of learning English, and lead them to mastering the effective methods of learning English, especially of listening and speaking.
II.Analysis of the teaching material
Module 4 is the fourth compulsory module for Senior High English and it covers such useful themes as Money, The Media and Culture Shock. Inside each unit, the students will find a lot of opportunities to participate in activities, practice with the language, explore ideas, solve language problems, exchange information, express their opinions and cooperate with others in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Lesson 2 is the second part of Unit 10 in Module 4. The objectives of Lesson 2 are to practice intensive listening skills, to practice the language of shopping and bargaining and to recognize and practice the polite rise in intonation. Luckily, the topic of this lesson is familiar to the students. So they can achieve the objects of this lesson easily under the guidance of the teacher.
III. Analysis of the teaching goals
1. Objectives of information

To practice intensive listening skills and the language of shopping and bargaining.
2). difficult teaching points
How to improve the students’ listening abilities.
3). focus on NMET
The topic of the listening material is common in the NMET.
2. Objectives of competence
To improve the students’ listening and speaking abilities.
3. Objectives of affection
To increase the students’ knowledge of shopping and bargaining.
4. Objectives of culture
To know what the foreigners will do while shopping and bargaining.
IV.Analysis of the teaching methods
The main teaching method in my class is Task-based approach. Apart from this kind of method, Multi-media
teaching method, Elicitation teaching method and Discussion teaching method will also be included. I will choose the proper method according to the content to be learned and the real situation.
V.Teaching aids
A computer, a projector, a blackboard and some chalks.
VI.Teaching Procedures
Step I. Lead-in
I’ll play the English song Never Say Never again and again.
While listening, the students are encouraged to fill in the blanks of the English song.

1. The purpose of this step is to arouse the students’ interest in listening and speaking as well as have students warm up before starting this lesson.
2. I will mainly use Elicitation teaching method and Multi-media teaching method to organize students to
achieve the teaching aim of this step.
3. The time of the step is about 10 minutes.
Step II. Listening 1(Identifying).

Step III. Listening 2(Fill in the blanks).
Listen to the tape carefully and fill in the blanks.
1. Mm, well, I’ve got a good job. I work very hard and I earn a good salary. I’ll be honest----I like spending money, especially on clothes. Why not? I’ve earned it, haven’t I ?

Make up a dialogue about shopping and bargaining with your classmates after class and try to act it out.

2. I will mainly use Task-based approach to organize students to achieve the teaching aim of this step.
3. The time of the step is about 1 minute.
