Although his 1yearold smartp hone still works perfectly,Li Jijia already feels the need to replace it.
“There are many better ones available now. It's time to upgrade(更新)my phone.”
Li's impatience is shared by many.Shortly after the season when new products are released, many consumers feel the urge to upgrade their electronic equipment, even though the ones they have still work just fine.
As consumers' minds are occupied by Apple's newly released products and debate whether the Google tablet is better than the new Amazon Kindle,it might be time to take a step back and ask:“Do we really need the latest upgrades?”
According to Donald Norman,an American author,“planned obsolescence(淘汰)”is the trick behind the upgrading culture of today's consumer electronics industry.
Electronics producers strategically release new upgrades periodically, both for hardware and software,so that customers on every level feel the need to buy the newest version.
“This is an oldtime trick—they're not inventing anything new,”Norman said.“This is a wasteful system th rough which companies—many of them producing personal electronics—release poorquality products simply because they know that,
in six months or a year, they will put out a new one.”
But the new psychology of consumers is part of this system,as Norman admitted,“We now want something new, something pretty, the next shiny thing.” In its most recent year,Apple's profit margin was more than 21 percent. At HewlettPackard, the world's biggest PC maker,it was only 7 percent.
Apple's annual upgrades of its products create sales of millions of units as owners of one year's MacBook or iPhone line up to buy the newest version, even when the changes are slight.
As to Li Jijia, the need for upgrading his smartphone comes mainly from friends and classmates. When they are switching to the latest equipment,he worries about feeling left out.
“Some games require better hardware to run,”said Li.“If you don't join in,you lose part of the connection to your friends.”

Even when you're extremely busy, you aren't using your time with 100% efficiency. There are gaps in everyone's schedule where they aren't doing anything important.Even if your schedule has no gaps, there is probably lots of time when you aren't working as fast or as effectively as you possibly could.
Why aren't you completely efficient? It's because time isn't the limiting factor. If it were the limiting factor, people could work nonstop without breaks or any unproductive distractions(消遣).Instead, people, even those who are highly productive, need to take breaks, occasionally procrastinate(拖延)and slow down on tasks throughout the day.
The real and most important limiting factor for productivity is your energy levels to pay attention.Energy levels limit your productivity because when you're tired, you can have enough time and still not get everything done.Your attention ability is also limited, because even if there are a million things that need to be done, you can only focus on one or two at a time.
You might not be able to insert another 4-5 hours into your schedule without making some sacrifices(牺牲).But even extremely busy people can add an hour or two
into their schedule without cancelling anything. The reason why it's hard to“find time”isn't a lack of time. It's because you don't have enough energy left to focus on something else that needs to fit into your day.
I first suspected time wasn't the real problem during an extremely busy period in my life over a year ago.I was extremely busy, but at that time I still exercised regularly.I had daily to do lists with over twenty items, and I still found time to exercise. However, after a few weeks off, because of illness,I stopped exercising.I was not busy by any standards,in fact,my schedule was very light.Despite this free time,I found it hard to find time to exercise. It seemed to get pushed later and later into my schedule until it was gone. How can I explain this strange experience?
I believe you have known it.

My Opinion on Cheating in Examinations It is known to us all that some students cheat in examinations at school.
【参考范文】
My Opinion on Cheating in Examinations
It is known to us all that some students cheat in examinations at school. As
students ,we often take examinations at school ,but sometimes we have too many
examinations which are too difficult for us.
On the other hand, some of us are lazy and don't work hard at their lessons. So when taking examinations, they sometimes cheat in order to get better results to please their parents and teachers.
In my opinion,it is wrong to cheat in examinations because it breaks the rules of schools. We students should be honest and try to get good results by studying hard instead of cheating in examinations. What's more,we should improve our study methods and get well prepared for examinations.。
