《典范英语》(7_14)教学参考
Micro the Metal Dog
教学参考的目的在于为实验课提供一个基本的思路和框架,帮助实验教师更好地把握课题理念。课题组鼓励实验教师结合学生的实际情况适当做出调整,将实验课上出特色。
一、教学目标
1.语言目标:学生能够听懂并理解故事的内容;能够有感情地、绘声绘色地朗读;能够复述故事的主要情节;能够完成与故事相关的写作任务。
2.非语言目标:鼓励学生学会理解他人,替他人着想;引导学生去除自己的成见,用开放、客观的心态认识新事物;教育学生爱护动物,珍惜自己的宠物。
说明:语言目标由教师负责检查,确保学生完成任务,达到要求。非语言目标具有开放性,
需要教师围绕有意义的话题与学生进行真诚交流,激发学生的学习兴趣和参与热情,让学生
在有思想、有内容的开放性语言实践活动中习得语言,树立正确的价值观。
二、课时安排
要求学生每周完成一部作品,每周安排一节或两节实验课,课时放在学生读完该部作品之后。
三、课前任务
要求学生每天朗读15-20分钟,辅以默读。做到听读结合,认真把握和体会故事的内容,并适当积累好词好句。
四、课堂教学基本步骤
1. 导入(Lead-in):启发学生思考
提出与故事相关的问题请学生回答,如:
Do you have a pet dog?
Would you like to have a robot pet instead of a real one?
Can robots have real emotions as human beings?
然后,教师带学生回到故事情景:
Daniel, in today’s story, got a robot dog as a birthday present. Did he like it? Let’s find it out from the show.
2. 表演(Role Play ):锻炼学生的表达能力
课前教师应安排学生做好表演准备。该环节请学生上台表演第1章Micro arrives 。表演完后,教师应有所反馈,并顺势将课堂推进下一环节。
3. 复述与朗读(Retelling & Reading aloud ):关注内容与语言表达的准确性,锻炼学生连贯表达思想的能力;朗读与思考相结合
表演后,教师让学生用一句话概括该章节内容:Who can summarize this show in just one sentence? (Mum bought Daniel a robot dog as a birthday present but Daniel was disappointed with it.)
导入故事开篇章节后,展示山峰图形(见下图),引导学生根据故事内容,继续用简单的语言概括出故事的发展、高潮、转折、结局,以此复述故事。
Introduction: Mum bought Daniel a robot dog as a birthday present but Daniel was disappointed with it.
Build-up: Micro learned to behave like a real dog and didn’t do what Mum told him to. Climax: Mum threw Micro down the rubbish chute. 在体现故事高潮的章节(P19)插入朗读环节。请几个学生朗读第4章(P19-P24)中的段落,要求学生模仿录音中的语音语调,生动地读出Micro 和Mum 各自的心理情感和读者心中随故事情节而动的紧张感。
Turn-down: Knowing what Micro had done, Daniel took Micro out of the rubbish.
4. 情节分析(Plot Analysis ):启发学生思考
教师让学生以表格形式归纳Micro 前后的变化,以及Daniel 和Mum 对Micro 态度的变化(见下页图表及课件)。教师可通过以下问题引导学生思考:
What caused Micro to change?
Mum bought Daniel a robot dog as a birthday present but Daniel was Micro acted like a real dog and didn’t do what Mum told
He wanted to be liked by his master Daniel, so he learned to behave like real dogs.
What caused Daniel’s change?
Daniel was disappointed because Micro was a mere robot, unlike a real dog. To his surprise, Micro learned to behave like a real dog. Daniel learned that Micro was more than a robot and had a lot of possibilities.
How did Micro become the best dog in the world?
He learned to behave like real dogs.
5. 讨论(Discussion):培养学生的批判性思维能力
在情节分析的基础上,引导学生看到本故事的主题之一:Wanting to please。
Micro, the metal dog, tried to please because he wanted to be liked and loved. It is love and friendship that make Micro change. It is love and friendship that make Daniel willing to accept this changed Micro.
然后,向学生提问:我们是否应该改变自己迎合他人?(以下问题前的关键词仅供教师参考)
MAKE ASSUMPTIONS Micro changed himself to please Daniel. If you were Micro, would you do the same thing?
Opinion 1: Yes, everybody needs love.
Opinion 2: No, I’d rather be myself.
EV ALUATE Which opinion do you prefer? Why?
通过讨论,让学生表达自我,观察学生的价值取向,鼓励学生在保持自己本色的同时能够与人和谐相处,用开放、客观的心态认识人和事。
CONNECT What would you do to a new comer?
Discard stereotypes and embrace changes. Find out his/her merits and make friends with him/her.
提醒学生进行讨论的规则是:(1)每个人都要有说话的机会;(2)别人讲话时不得打断、干扰;(3)支持并补充他人的观点;(4)如果不想说可以不说;(5)提问要深思熟虑。鼓励学生在该环节畅所欲言。
