高中英语完形填空及阅读理解答案高中英语完形填空及阅读理解答案Not long ago, people thought babies were not able to learn things阅读理解答案Not long ago, people thought babies were not able to learn things until they were five or six months old. Yet doctors in the United States say babies begin learning on their first day of life. Scientists note that babies are strongly influenced by their environment. They say a baby will smile if her mother does somethin the baby likes. A baby learns to get the best care possible by smiling to please her mother or other caregiver. This is how babies learn to connect and communicate with other human beings. One study shows that babies can learn before they are born. The researchers placed a tape recorder on the stomach of a pregnant (怀孕的')woman. Then, they played a recording of a short story. On the day the baby was born, the researchers attempted to find if he knew the sounds of the story repeated while in his mother. They did this by placing a device in the mouth of the newborn baby. The baby would hear the story if he moved his mouth one way. If the baby moved his mouth the other way, would hear a different story. The researchers say the baby clearly liked the story he heard before he was born. They say the baby would move his mouth so he could hear the story again and again.Another study shows how mothers can strongly influence social development and language skills in their children. Researchers studied the children from the age of one month to three years. The researchers attempted to measure the sensitivityof the mothers. The women were considered sensitive if they supported their children’s activities and did not interfere ( 干预)unnecessarily. They tested the children for thinking and language development when they were three years old. Also, the researchers observed the women for signs of depression. The children of depressed women did not do as well in tests as the children of women who did not sufferfrom depression. The children of depressed women did poorly in tests of language skills and understanding what they hear. These children also were less cooperative and had more problems dealing with other people. The researchers noted that the sensitivity of the mothers was important to the intelligence development of their children. They give their owners automatic credit in stores, restaurants, and hotels, at home, across the country, and even abroad, and they make many banking services available as well. More and more of these credit cards can be read automatically, making it possible to withdraw or deposit money in scattered locations, whether or not the local branch bank is open. For many of us the “cashless society” is not on the horizo n---- it is already here. While computers offer these conveniences to consumers, they have many advantages for sellers too. Electronic cash registers can do much more than simply ring up sales. They can keep a wide range of records, including who sold what, when, and to whom. This information allows businessmen to keep track of their list of goods by showing which items are being sold and how fast they are moving. Decisions to recorder or return goods to suppliers can then be made. At the same time these computers record which hours are busiest and which employees are the most efficient, allowing personnel(职员)and staffing assignments to be made accordingly. And they also identify preferred customer for promotional campaigns. Computers are relied on by manufacturers for similar reasons. Computer-analyzed marketing reports can help to decide which products to emphasize now, which to develop for the future, and which to drop. Computers keep track of goods in stock, of raw materials on hand, and even of the production process itself.Numerous other commercial enterprises, from theaters to magazine publishers, from gas and electric utilities(功用)to milk processors, bring better and more efficient services to consumers through the use of computers.1. According to the passage, the credit card enables its owner to _____.A. withdraw as much money from the bank as he wishes。

Television is still the most influential medium around. Indeed ,for many of the poorest regions(地区)of the world, it remains the next big thing——finally becomes globally available. And that is a good thing, because the TV revolution is changing lives for the better.Across the developing world, around 45% of families had a TV in 1995; by 2005 the number had climbed above 60%. That is some way behind the U.S. , where are more TVs than people, and where people now easily get access to the Internet. Five million more families in sub-Saharan Africa will get a TV over the next five years. In 2005 , after the fall of the Taliban(塔利班),which had outlawed TV, 1 in 5 Afghans had one. The global total is another 150 million by 2013——pushing the numbers to well beyond two thirds of families.Television’s most powerful effect will be on the lives of women. In India, researchers Robert J ensen and Emily Oster found that when TVs reached villages, women were more likely to go to the market without their husbands’ approval and less likely to want a boy rather than a girl. They were more likely to make decisions over child health care. TV is also a powerful medium for adult education. In the Indian state of Gujarat, Chitrageet is a popular show that plays Bollywood songs with words in Gujarati on the screen. Within six months, viewers had made a small but significant(有意义的) improvement in their reading skills.Too much TV has been associated with violence, overweight and loneliness. However, TV is having a positive influence on the lives of billions worldwide.60. The underlined word “outlawed” in paragraph 2 probably means “”.A. allowedB. bannedC. offeredD. refused61.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?A. Americans used to get access to the Internet easily.B. The world’s TV sets will total 150 mill ion by 2013.C.45% of families in the developing countries had a TV in 2005.D. Over two thirds of families in the world will have a TV by 2013.62. The author intends to .A. stress the advantages of TV to people’s livesB. persuade women to become more independentC. encourage people to improve their reading skillsD. introduce the readers some websites such as Google63. What would be the best title for the passage? Will Rule the World Will Disturb the World Will Better the World Will Remain in WorldCBusinesses are witnessing a difficult time, which has in turn produced influence on consumers’ desire to go green. However, shoppers are still laying stress on environmental concerns. Two thirds of customers say that environmental considerations inform their purchases to the same degree as they did a year ago, while more than a quarter say that they are now even better aware of the environmental effect on what they buy. This may help to influence how shops store goods on their shelves. And the companies should still make efforts to become more environmentally friendly. Two out of three people think it is important to buy from environmentally responsible companies, with about one in seven saying that they had even decided to take their custom elsewhere if they felt a company’s environmental reputation was not good enough.Harry Morrison, chief executive(主管)of the Carbon Trust, sympathizes:“I understand this situation where survival is very important now. But from environmental considerations, the clock is ticking—we don’t have much time. 文章是对作家Margaret Mitchell的生活的描述。
Home AloneThe sky was black, the house was creaking(嘎吱作响), and I still had four hours until my parents got home. Locked in my parents‟ room, I turned on the TV full blast so I wouldn‟t hear the creaking house.I hardly heard the p hone ring. I picked it up and said, “Hello … hello …?” but there was no reply. I knew someone was on the other end. Finally, I hung up. A minute later, the phone rang again; still no one was there. I became more frightened as time passed; the same person called five more times. At this point I was unwilling to pick up, but the ringing continued. To get my mind off this prank(恶作剧) caller, I called my friend. She told me not to worry and to turn the phone off. As we talked, I heard someone move into the driveway. When I glanced out the window, I saw an unfamiliar car.Thirty minutes passed and the car was still in my driveway. It drove up and down the drive as if aware I was watching. My friend told me to call the police, but I refused.Soon the phone calls started again. I heard noises in the background, but I couldn‟t tell what they were. I really didn‟t want that person to get out of the car and start toward the house. If they did, I didn‟t know what I‟d do. None of the doors were locked, and I would have no way of protecting myself. The only thing I could do was hide, which wasn‟t a very good plan.At this point I was considering calling the cops, but my friend offered to drive by. “Maybe if they see me pull in, they will leave,” she suggested. By the ti me she arrived, the car had left. The phone rang again and I picked up, thinking it might be my friend. Someone on the other end said “Bye-bye.”At that point I wasn‟t as scared as curious. Since then I have not stayed home alone and I probably never will.。
