Development of New Medicine in Kibo

Better protein crystals can be made in the zerogravity environment. We can understand the detailed structures of protein, clarify disease, and develop new medicines.
Contribution to the Aging Society through Medical Science in Space
z Bone dencity decreases about 1-1.5% /month in space. z Muscular strength in lower legs decreases 1%/day in space. Therefore, prevetive methods are important. These data will help preventing osteoporosis for elder people.

In space, there is no gravity. Therefore, there is no need to use your muscles. If you don’t exercise, your muscles and bones become weaker!
