定语从句

1. 定语从句的功用和结构

在复合句中，修饰某一名词或代词的从句叫做定语从句。被定语从句修饰的词叫做先行词。定语从句必须放在先行词之后。引导定语从句的关联词有关系代词和关系副词。例如：Look at the photos that I took on my trip.

看我在旅行时照的照片。

划线部分为定语从句，用来说明前面的photos。我们称photos 为先行词；that 为引导词，在从句中用来代替photos.

找出文中出现的定语从句。

总结：that多指物，有时也指人，在定语从句中作主语或宾语。例如：

When I was growing up, I had an old neighbor, Dr. Gibbs. He didn’t look like any doctor I’d ever known. He never invited us to play in his yard, but he was a very kind person.
