In the wake of heightened interaction between different countries in today's "global village", studying abroad has become a dream for countless young people. As a student majoring in English, I would be willing and eager to continue my studies abroad upon graduation to improve my knowledge on both an academic and nd personal level .

Living and studying in an English-speaking country （such as Canada, the United States, Britain or Australia）would provide a good opportunity for me to expand my knowledge. In order to become truly proficient in a foreign language, it is vital to learn about its culture —including social interaction, customs and conventions, and so on. By living and studying abroad, I would gain further exposure to English-language culture. For example, many colloquial expressions in English are difficult to understand and become even harder to translate into Chinese if one lacks such cultural awareness in the first place. For my intended future career as a translator, I will need a proficient understanding of all aspects of the culture and local customs associated with the English language. By studying abroad, I would be able to augment my linguistic knowledge and deepen my cultural understanding to the benefit of my future vocation .

Overseas studies would also provide me with a valuable chance to learn how to be more open-minded and independent. It takes a person with strong willpower and an independent spirit to live alone and fully adapt to the culture of a foreign land. The capacity to accept others, despite potentially significant differences that may exist between them and ourselves, is an important skill that every 21 st-century global citizen should possess. If I am able to study abroad, I would learn how to communicate more accurately and efficiently with those who are from different cultural backgrounds. In today's globalized economy, not only currencies but also cultures are constantly being exchanged. Those equipped with the qualities of open-mindedness and independence will be able to contribute more effectively to, and be more competitive in, the modern-day workplace .

With increased interaction between the world's nations, there is a great urgency for us to absorb different cultures. Studying abroad would not only provide me with a unique opportunity to deepen my knowledge of the English language but also enable me to enhance my overall character, which will greatly benefit my career in the long term.
