光纤通用术语
光纤通信术语LD（激光二级管）Laser Diode的缩写，其发射的光，波长带宽窄，几乎是单色光，即单波长。
通过其光谱波段（小于5nm）的激光不是连续的，在中心波长的两边，还发射几个较低峰值的波长。
LED（发光二极管）Light Emission Diode的缩写，具有比LD更宽的光谱，通常范围在50～200n m。
另外，LED光是非干涉光，因而输出功率更加稳定。
LED光源典型应用在短距离网络和多模光纤的局域网LAN中。
LED可以用于激光光源单模系统进行精确损耗测量，但是前提条件是要求其输出足够功率。
光源的工作波长稳定光源的工作波长是一个标称的波长λ，在这一波长上设计的稳定光源能在规定的条件下工作。
光源的功率稳定度稳定光源在规定的工作方式并经过预热稳定工作后，从时间t0至时间t1的输出功率的变化程度称为稳定光源的功率稳定度，以dB表示。
光源的波长稳定度稳定光源经过预热稳定工作后的发射光波长的变化程度称为稳定光源的波长的稳定度，以nm表示。
光源的谱宽稳定光源的谱宽是指稳定光源输出光谱从其最大点下降3dB所对应的宽度。
光功率计的波长范围光功率计的波长范围是规定一个标称的工作波长λ的范围从λmin到λmax ，在此波长范围内设计的光功率计能在规定的技术指标下工作。
光功率计的功率范围光功率计能按照规定的技术指标测量最大光功率至最小光功率的范围即称为光功率计的功率范围。
光分路器的中心波长和带宽所有光分路器的性能都是与波长相关的，通常给出的指标是在相应波长范围内的参数。
中心波长就是分路器的预定波长，带宽是其性能参数能得到保证的波长范围。
通常情况下，分路器在预定带宽以外的一定区域也能工作，但性能得不到保证。
器件的最大插入损耗与典型插入损耗插入损耗是指某一输出端口输出光功率与输入光功率的比值，以dB表示。
最大和最小插入损耗分别是通带范围内插入损耗的上限和下限。
典型插入损耗是在中心波长测量的插入损耗。
通常情况下，最大插入损耗和典型插入损耗都是对等比分路器而言的。
