地道英语表达说到做到!

1. Put one's money where one's mouth is.

这句话的意思就是“那用你的行为来证明你相信自己说的”、“那我们赌一赌吧”。

其中mouth代表一个人说的话，而money代表他/她对自己说的有多少自信或动力等。

比如：

A: There is no way that team can beat them, they are obviously way better.

B: Oh really? How about you put your money where your mouth is?

A：那个队不可能打败打败他们，他们明显好得多。

B：真的？那我们赌一把？

或者

A: You really should donate some money to help the poor.

B: Yeah? Why don't you put your money where your mouth is?

A：你真的应该为穷人捐款。

B：是吗？那为什么你不这么做呢？

2. Talk the talk but don't walk the walk.

意思就是一个人的行为和他/她所说的话是不一致。比如：

A: He told me about how everyone should work hard to provide for the future, but he is so lazy.

B: Yeah, he talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk.

A: 他告诉我每个人都应该努力工作好为未来做准备，但是他很懒。

B：是的，他言行不一。

3. Practice what one preaches. 说到做到。

比如说：

Sometimes people say everyone should be courteous, but they don't always practice what they preach.

人们经常说每个人都应该有礼貌，但是他们经常说到做不到。

4. Actions speak louder than words. 行为比言语响亮。

比如说：

A: She says she loves him, but she is always going to parties and dancing with other guys.

B: Yeah, actions speak louder than words, right?

A：她说她爱他，但是她总是参加各个party，和其他男孩子一起跳舞。B：是呀，行为比言语响亮，对吧？
