For one thing, students cannot find satisfactory jobs. For another, they find companies more and more demanding. That's why they may feel a lot of pressure in finding a job. Many reasons lead to this situation. To begin with, the whole society has become more competitive. More and more college graduates are hunting for jobs while the number of jobs is limited. In addition, employers prefer to choose the best among candidates because they have more choices. This has been a controversial question for a long time. I admit that the cell phone has become quite helpful in our study and life, but on the whole I think it is beneficial for students if they are not allowed to bring their phones to college classes. There will be too many problems if students bring their cell phones to class. First, many college students choose to sit in the back of the classroom, eyes fixed on their cell phones. This could mean more class management and less teaching time for teachers. Secondly, the ring of the cell phone can pose a major distraction for other students, as well as teachers. Here are some good measures we can take to help solve this problem. Some schools use "cell phone bags" to collect students' cell phones in class.
The international labor organization says the number of people without jobs is increasing. Big fast food chains in New York city havestarted to obey a first kind of its rule requiring them topost calorie on its menu. Put calorie information on the menu 。
As the picture depicts, a young man is busy dealing with a variety of social media, such as Facebook, Blogger, YouTube and Twitter. It seems that the young man is under great pressure and almost loses his balance of life.Nowadays, many young men like him are addicted to updating their social media content day and night. Several factors lead up to this problem. Firstly, young men like the new ways of interacting with their friends, which provide them with the firsthand information. Secondly, it is a fashion for young people to use social media to reach out to their friends. Thirdly, the high-tech gadgets such as mobile phones and tablet computers also facilitate the wide use of social media among young men.As far as I’m concerned, it is advisable for young people to use social media in a sensible way. They should be encouraged to make more contact with their friends in real life circumstances. Besides, they should pay enough attention to the time they have wasted on social media. Section A1. M: Mother’s Day is coming and I’m thinking of a gift for my mom. Any idea? Don’t say flowers like carnation.W: Yes, you’re right, flowers are fancy but impractical. So, if I were you, I would go straight to ask her for her wish. And Tip Two, mind your budget.Q: What does the woman want the man to do?2. M: What would you like for supper? I think I’ll have soup and some vegetables. I’m on a diet.W: How pathetic you are! I don’t care much about my weight. I just eat whatever I like at the moment.Q: What will the woman most probably do?3. M: The driver must have been drunk driving. See, damaging his car and being questioned by the police.W: Not really. Seems his car was destroyed by the car right behind. He’s beyond punishment.Q: What do we learn about the driver?4. W: It really drives me crazy. I lost my mobile phone. I must have left it behind in the supermarket when I was selecting some snacks this afternoon.M: Don’t worry. But, why not phone the manager of the supermarket right away? Let’s find the number on their website.Q: What do we learn about the woman from the conversation?5. M: How about going to dinner tonight with me, Jane? Then we can discuss the annual plan for English Corner together.W: OK, I’d love to. It’s time we formulate our plan. And I’ve already done with my assignments today.Q: Why did Jane agree to accept the invitation?6. W: We have to admit that it is quite hard to get funds and hands to sponsor the sports meeting this year.M: No worries. Our students will help out. And it won’t cost much if we get fewer games. Q: What does the man mean?7. W: Hi, Mr. Fond, I am so sorry that I fail to finish my project on time. And I run out of excuses. I think I am not capable enough to handle this course.M: Never mind. P lease don’t give it up. As long as you’re willing to work harder, I still think you will make it.Q: W hat’s the relationship between the two speakers?8. W: Eric has been taking five courses this term, but it seems he won’t drop anyone of them. Sounds amazing to me.M: Really? For me, I’m struggling with the three courses I took. I think that he must be working very hard.Q: What does the man mean?Conversation OneM: I’ve learnt English for four or five years. I’ve memorized a large number of English words. Still, I can’t communicate with my foreign teachers fluently. What should I do?W: I have the same problem myself too. But I’ve read some articles about improving oral English. There’re some effective ways to our needs. See what they can help.M: Great. What have you read? Share them with me.W: The first tip is to feel relaxed when speaking English, either with foreigners or with our classmates.M: That’s a good point. Sometimes I feel stressed when speaking English face-to-face with others. The result is that my mind goes totally blank. Next time, I would rather keep silent. W: The second tip according to the article is that you shouldn’t feel ashamed of making mistakes. It’s all right as long as you can learn something from your mistakes.M: That sounds useful to me too. Next time, I’ll take an easy attitude towards my mistakes. Relax, and speak more in the conversation with others.W: The third tip is to get more chances to open your mouth to speak, in particular with native speakers. But it’s hard to find many foreigners available on our campus.M: Social media. They will help us out in this respect. Maybe we can start with writing in English, by interacting with native speakers online. Then we can start to talk with them onlinewith microphones or have a video conversation with them.Questions 9 to 11 are based on the conversation you have just heard.9. What’s the problem with the man’s oral English?10. Why does the man sometimes choose to keep silent when talking with others?11. How can they get more chances to talk to native speakers?Conversation TwoW: Here we have Professor Charles Bolden with us today. He’s the president of Maryland College, a community college. My first question, Prof. Bolden, what are the standards for you to choose prospective students every year?M: As a community college, we offer courses in a variety of fields, but we mainly focus on social sciences. As long as a student has a strong interest in social sciences, he will be welcome to apply. W: Is one’s interest so important?M: That’s our first requirement of a potential student. If a student shows no interest in our courses, he’ll be advised to apply elsewhere. Although our school is just a community college, getting into our community is very difficult: only 30% of the applicants can have the chance to study in our college each year.W: What are your other requirements?M: Of course, one must have much background knowledge about the subject he’s interested in. We will have a written test on that before granting admission to students. Thirdly, he must get references from his high school teachers. Lastly, we’ll have interviews with students who have applied. However, if a student has a good record of academic study in his high school and has done much volunteer work, he will be very competitive.W: After a student gets admitted, how should he get ready for his college life?M: Good question. Getting his admission letter is the first step. He should get psychologically ready for very hard tests and strict professors. We encourage students to develop independent thinking, so he’s supposed to contribute to his growth in this aspect.Questions 12 to 15 are based on the conversation you have just heard.12. What’s the first requirement of the students applying to Maryland College?13. What’s the percentage of the applicants being accepted every year into Maryland College?14. What is expected of a student to be competitive in getting enrolled?15. What is a student supposed to do after attending college?Section BPassage OneTwo girls were best of friends, since their childhood. When they were small kids, they used to go to school together, play together and sometimes even stay at each other's places. They were next door neighbors and thus their parents were friends as well. The best friendsgraduated from school and went to pursue higher studies in the same college. After some days, one of the friends found the other behaving in a very strange manner. At first, the other friend thought it was just the studies getting on to her. However, with time, she became even more moody and frustrated. Finally, her friend confronted her with the problem. She broke down into tears and confessed that she was going around with a guy, who was taking drugs and forced her to take them too.Her friend contacted the college counselor, who was a psychologist and narrated all the problem to her. The girl was then advised by her friend to leave this guy, as he was torturing her unnecessarily. After a lot of persuasion, the girl finally agreed to leave him. She was given basic counseling and was offered with medical help. All this while, her friend never left her side and always stood by her. Finally, they graduated. They both went on to become successful professionals, but never let each other down by indulging themselves into bad habits. They lived happily ever after, as close friends.Questions 16 to 18 are based on the passage you have just heard.16.Why were the two girls so close when they were very young?17. What was wrong with one of the girls?18. Who came to help the girl in trouble out?Passage TwoThe eyes are often referred to as the “windows to the soul” since they are capable of revealing a great deal about what a person is feeling or thinking. If you engage in conversation with another person, taking note of eye movements is a natural and important part of the communication process. When judging body language, pay attention to the follow eye signals:•Eye gazeWhen a person looks directly into your eyes when having a conversion, it indicates that they are interested and paying attention. However, prolonged eye contact can feel threatening. On the other hand, breaking eye contact and frequently looking away may indicate that the person is distracted, uncomfortable, or trying to conceal his or her real feelings.•BlinkingBlinking is natural, but you should also pay attention to whether a person is blinking too much or too little. People often blink more rapidly when they are feeling distressed or uncomfortable. Infrequent blinking may indicate that a person is intentionally trying to control his or her eye movements.•Pupil sizeOne of the most subtle cues that eyes provide is through the size of the pupils. While light levels in the environment control pupil expansion, sometimes emotions can also cause small changes in pupil size. For example, you may have heard the phase “bedroom eyes” used to describe the look someone gives when they are attracted to another person.Questions 19 to 21 are based on the passage you have just heard.19. What does prolonged eye contact indicate?20. What does blinking eyes rapidly mean when talking with others?21. What may cause the changes in pupil size besides the light levels in the environment? Passage ThreeHaving “Fire Officer”on your CV shows you are a team player, not afraid to take responsibility and that you feel part of a community. But if you want to be a fire marshal, you must be confident, not liable to panic, have a strong voice and not be afraid to shout.Green Flag, a famous supermarket, has fire drills at least six times a year. Up to 800 people get out of the building and are urged by fire officers with loud-speakers and reflective jackets. Ann Housley, a market researcher with Green Flag, says that being a fire officer adds interest to her job. “It is exciting. A fire emergency could happen at any time, so we always have our reflective jackets on the back of chairs.”It’s important, says Ann, that people use fire exits and never attempt to take the lifts. Nor must they try to grab their belongings. Paul Archer, a fire officer, says he has been to fires at banks and “been surprised to find customers refusing to leave their money or bags behind. They just wouldn’t believe the fire alarm. They were prepared to put money in front of their personal safety”.Many offices don’t take fire precautions seriously. Paul has even been called to check a fire drill at a utilities company where the central security room had sent fire engines to an address in a different county. Meanwhile, evacuated staff waited in the rain for 30 minutes.Questions 22 to 25 are based on the passage you have just heard.22. What’s the most admired quality of a fire officer?23. How does Ann Housley consider fire drills in her company?24. What should people do first when the fire alarm goes off?25. Why are fire engines sent away in a fire drill at a utilities company?Section CT oday, one out of every four African children does not go to school. His family was poor, but he worked very hard at his studies even when he was a child. He became a petty official in his early twenties. As he had great learning, worked in earnest and was outstanding in performing his duties, he had already earned a high reputation by the age of 30. Confucius visited many principalities in the hope of rendering service to the princes, but none of them would accept his political views. Consequently, he changed his mind and decided to devote all his energies to education, which made him become the first individual to initiate a private school in the history of China’s education.。

Coubertin believed that sport and exercise were very important for the health and happiness of every man and also for the nation. He therefore tried, in 1892, to interest other Frenchmen in his dream of starting a modern form of the early Greek Games. His ideas were strongly criticized by many people, who did not really understand what he was trying to do. It is perhaps sad that the great work Pierre de Coubertin did to bring back the Games was never properly recognized during his lifetime. Gradually, however, people all over the world became interested in his ideas and at a meeting in Paris in 1894, with representatives from twelve different countries; plans were made to hold the first modern Games in Athens in 1899. Organizing the first modern Games, however, was not without problems. The Greek government was unhappy with the decision to hold the Games in Athens, as they had serious economic problems at the time and did not feel they were in a position to spend the necessary money. It seemed therefore that the Games would be finished before they had even begun. Prince Constantine of Greece, however, gave his support to Coubertin and the newly-formed Olympic Committee and other rich Greeks soon followed his example. Enough money was collected in Greece and abroad to build a new stadium and pay all the other costs. On 5th April, 1896, a crowd of over 60 000 people watched the King of Greece open the first modern Olympic Games. There were, however, very few competitors -only two hundred and eighty-five. Australia, Austria, Britain, Bulgaria, Chile, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA, were the only countries to send athletes to the Games and most of the athletes who did come had to pay for their own travel and other costs. There were ten sports in the first program -cycling, gymnastics, tennis, swimming, athletics, fencing, weight-lifting, rowing, wrestling and shooting; there were also other non-sporting events, such as concerts and ballet, just as there had been at the early Games. At the first modern Olympics almost all the gold medals were won by American sportsmen, but the most famous of all the first medal winners was a young Greek named Spyros Louis, who came from a small village in the mountains near Athens. It was he who won the long and difficult race, the Marathon, and gave the Greeks the national win they had hoped for.The Greeks would have been happy to keep the Games in Greece but Coubertin believed strongly that the Olympics should be truly international and would not allow this to happen. It was therefore decided to hold the next Games in Paris in 1900. Sadly, however, the Paris Games andthe following Games, held in St. Louis, America, in 1904, were poor examples of Coubertin's dream and Coubertin himself did not even travel to the St. Louis Games. For these two Games were more like circus shows than serious international sports meetings. Only fifteen non-Americans went to the 1904 Games, mainly because the high travel costs prevented others from competing. Olympic events were mixed with other sports and events, and the Games were organized to continue over many months, so that as much money as possible could be made by the organizers from the selling of tickets. It was not until 1908, when the Games were held in London, that international rules and distances were introduced;until then the events had been the decision of the organizing nation alone. The London Games were far better organized than any of the other modern Games but it took many more years before Coubertin's dream of a truly international meeting of sportsmen became a reality. It was necessary to make many changes before the Olympic Games became as well-organized and as popular as they are today.Since 1896 the Games have been held every four years, except for a break during the years of the two World Wars. Gradually the number of competitors who take part in each Games has grown and so has the number of countries. In 1896, only thirteen countries were represented and only two hundred and eighty-five competitors took part. Today, however, as many as one hundred and twenty-two countries send athletes to the Games and more than seven thousand men and women come to the Games to take part. In recent years, the number of events has grown to twenty-one, eleven of which are also open to women. It is interesting that Coubertin, whose ideas were born in the late nineteenth century, probably never imagined that women would ever play a part in the new Olympics. Women had never competed in the early Greek Games; indeed, for many years they were not even allowed to watch. In modern times, the London Games in 1908 were the first in which women took a serious part -36 women came to the Games to compete. The first woman to win an Olympic event was the British Tennis Player, Charlotte Cooper, who won a tennis event in 1900. From 1908, however, the number of events began to grow with the introduction of ladies’ gymnastics. Athletics events for women were introduced in 1928 at the Games held in Amsterdam. Today, women are as highly-trained and as fit as men. Although in almost every sport women and men compete separately, in horse-riding events they compete against each other and women have shown over the years that they are just as good. The International Olympic Committee, whose home is in Lausanne in Switzerland, is responsible for all the important decisions of the Olympic Movement. The members of this committee are chosen not by their governments but by members already on the committee and they are therefore above politics or group interests. Most of the members are simply rich men who wish to keep Coubertin’s ideas alive. Not every country is represented, therefore, because this would mean more than 120 members and no decisions would ever be made. However, each country must form a National Olympic Committee before it is allowed to send competitors to the games and this committee must be recognized by the International Olympic Committee. At present, more than 136 countries have formed such a committee. The National Committees are responsible for organizing the national teams and for deciding which competitors to send. Competitors cannot choose to go to the Games -they must be chosen and this means competing against their own countrymen. It is not even enough to be the best in the country, for each competitor must be able to reach the standard expected for entry to the Games. Thesestandards change each year as sportsmen and sportswomen improve. Some countries are not able to send all the competitors they would like to, even if they have reached the expected standard, because of the cost. The National Committee must then decide whether to send the competitors who have the most chance of winning or whether, instead, to send competitors to represent each sport even though some of them have little hope of doing well. Not only the competitors but also the team manager must be paid for. The manager is an extremely important member of the team;he is responsible for the competitors while they are at the Games and his job includes, for example, getting the competitors to each event on time and helping with medical or personal problems. Most countries ask the people for money to help pay for the costs of travel and training. A lot of money is given by businesses and companies who also give, for example, clothes, shoes and uniforms. The city where the Games are to be held is chosen by the International Olympic Committee;this is usually decided five years before the Games are to take place. Several cities may wish to hold the Games in any one year and the Committee decides only after it has listened to and seen the arguments and plans of each city. Once chosen, the city then has five years to prepare.1. Coubertin planned to hold the first modern Olympic Games in_________ in Athens.A. 1894B. 1896C. 1899D. 19002.

Overreliance on One’s Mobile PhoneThe picture vividly illustrates a funny dialogue between a boy student and his math teacher. The boy is required to come up with the result of the equation on the blackboard. Instead of working it out on his own, he chooses to turn to the relative math app on his mobile phone. It’s widely acknowledged that students’ overreliance on mobile phones does much harm to their study. Firstly, it takes the place of students’ brainpower, undermining students’ thinking ability. Secondly, it corrupts students’ interest in the process of working out a problem by himself, leading them to the point that they show little enthusiasm in acquiring new knowledge. Finally, it makes students lose their competitiveness in the real world, unable to compete with students who really learn many skills by thinking, reasoning and most importantly by interacting with their teachers and peers. No doubt, overusing mobile phones should be limited in particular in the process teaching and learning in classroom. Only by systematic training of their brain and constant practice by themselves can they accomplish maturity and obtain skills necessary for success in their future life. 【1-5】 D C A B C【6-10】 D C A D A【11-12】 C C B A C【16-20】 A B C C D【21-25】 C C A A B【26】vital 【27】battle 【28】divert 【29】usage 【30】devices【31】phenomenon 【32】community 【33】electronic 【34】similarly 【35】be beneficial for【听力原文】Section A【1】M: Father’s Day is around the corner and I’m thinking of buying a present for my dad. Then you’ll find one gift for your father.Q: What does the woman want the man to do?【2】M: What would you like for dinner? I think I’ll have rice and some vegetables. What about you?W: Don’t care about me. Just go ahead. I’m not hungry for the time being. I need to have a rest after so exhausting a busy day at work.Q: What will the woman most probably do?【3】M: The young man must have stolen something from that grocery store. See, he’s detained and being questioned by the security guard.W: Not really. He was buying something present in the store when the robbing happened.Q: What do we learn about the young man?【4】W: My head aches after staring at the computer screen for so long. I just can’t keep going with my term paper. M: Do have a rest before continuing with your work. Otherwise, you may have problems with your health before you finish your assignments. Q: What do we learn about the woman from the conversation?【5】M: How about going to a meal tonight with me, Janet? Then we can discuss how to get money for a new car.W: Ok, no problem. Our car is beyond repair. Let’s get one as soon as possible.Q: What did Janet mean?【6】W: We have to admit that social media is of much necessity. But there’re some problems with its use among the average people. M: Of course. People are just busy using those social media websites. They haven’t realized that they’ve already wasted much time on them.Q: What does the man mean?【7】W: Hi, Mr. Pond, I am so sorry that I fail to finish typing your business letter on time. I mess up your appointment with our business partners. M: Never mind. The appointment has been postponed to the next week. You have plenty of time to get it done. I’m just about to tell you the news. Q: What’s the relationship between the two speakers?【8】W: Mark has been taking six courses this term, but it seems he couldn’t handle them well. He failed four of them in midterm exams. M: Really? He deserves it. He would fare well if he hadn’t spent so much time playing online games. Q: What does the man mean?Conversation OneM: You know, I’m always a fan of pop music, and I enjoy singing. The best travel experience in my life is also related to music and singing.W: Tell me fast. What’s it all about?M: That’s two years ago when I made a trip down to New York to participate in one of music competition.W: Wow, that sounds interesting. As a student in college, it’ll be a brilliant chapter in your life.M: I know, but it took much for me to make it there. In fact, I borrowed money from my friend to buy a plane ticket to get there. I felt uncomfortable with borrowing money from others. W: I can imagine, owing a debt is not a good thing. But, anyway, you finally get to New York.M: Definitely. The competition was wonderful. All the participants enjoyed the competition. All the judges chose only the good comments on the performance of each singer.W: You must have got much encouragement from them to go on with your singing in the future.M: Absolutely. The judges are very encouraging. But the most enjoyable and exciting part of my trip there is that I made a lot of new friends who share the same hobby of singing with me.W: That’s really an unforgettable experience for you.Questions 9 to 11 are based on the conversation you have just heard.【9】Why did the man leave for New York two years ago?【10】How did the judges respond to the performance of the participants?【11】What impressed the man most during his experience in New York?Conversation TwoW: Here we have Professor Charles Binley with us today. He’s an expert on recruiting and hiring. My first question, Prof. Binley, what is the most frequent error job applicants make during a job interview?M: I’ve been in this field for many years. And I know deep in my heart that job interviews are very stressful to every applicant. However, the first error they tend to make is that they easily get too personal during a job interview.W: Too personal? You mean, they have wrong understanding of the dress code for a job interview?M: No. That means that they talk too much about their personal life stories. You know what, that’ll make the interviewers worry about whether they can keep job-related information in secret in their future job. So, my advice is that, they should avoid voluntarily offering too much personal information, just focusing on job-related topics.W: Good advice. Focus on job-related topics. Other common errors, Professor?M: The second common error is that many interviewees fail to research the company beforehand. Maybe, they’re busy taking part in one job interview after another. There’s no time for them to get enough information about the desired posts. The result is, they don’t know even the basic information about the company. I doubt that any employer prefer someone who knows nothing about what the company is all about.W: Actually, it’s easy for one to do this in this Internet age. One can get tons of information on the web. Isn’t it?M: Yes, it’s simple. But, for every applicant, it’s on the top of a must-to-do list. The last common error I want to expand on is that some applicants are passive in responding to the interviewers’ questions. That’ll make a negative impression on the interviewers. In the deep of their mind, you’ll be regarded as a passive employee in future.Questions 12 to 15 are based on the conversation you have just heard.【12】What’s the first common error made by job interviewees?【13】When you find your intended post in a company, what’re you expected to do?【14】What’s the result of being passive in responding to questions during a job interview?【15】What is mainly talked about by the two speakers?Section BPassage OneMy native land, Denmark, is a poetical land, full of popular traditions, old songs, and an eventful history, which has become bound up with that of Sweden and Norway. The Danish islands are possessed of beautiful woods, and corn fields: they resemble gardens on a great scale. Upon one of these green islands, Funen, stands Odense, the place of my birth. Odense is called after the pagan god Odin, who, as tradition states, lived here: this place is the capital of the province, and lies twenty-two Danish miles from Copenhagen. In the year 1805 there lived here, in a small mean room, a young married couple, who were extremely attached to each other; he was a shoemaker, scarcely twenty-two years old, a man of a richly gifted and truly poetical mind. His wife was ignorant of life and of the world, but possessed a heart full of love.On the second of April, 1805, a living and weeping child was born, and that was me myself, Hans Christian Andersen. During the first day of my existence my father is said to have sat by the bed, but I cried all the time. “Will you go to sleep, or lie there quietly?” it is reported that my father asked in joke. But, I still cried on. And even in the church, when I was taken to be baptized, I cried so loudly that the preacher, who was a passionate man, said, “The young one screams like a cat!” which words my mother never forgot.Questions 16 to 18 are based on the passage you have just heard.【16】How does the speaker’s hometown get its name?【17】What’s the speaker’s father’s profession?【18】What happened when Hans Anderson was baptized in the church?Passage TwoIn the 1960’s, women engaged 41 hours per week in total unpaid work, such as housework, childcare, family, and other duties, while men did 11 hours per week of total unpaid work. For women, 32 hours of this was dedicated solely to in-home work, while men contributed 4 hours a week solely to in-home work. By the year 2000, women had decreased their housework to 19 hours a week, while men increased their housework to 10 hours a week. However, women still logged 42 hours a week in unpaid labor compared to men’s 21 hours per week of unpaid labor. Interestingly, women may not resent this imbalance when they enjoy the work, and when they and their husbands feel they are especially competent at it. Some researchers do cite past research indicating that this imbalance is likely to be seen as acceptable, but much more of an imbalance is likely to be seen by one of the partners as unfair. After all, the woman performs more than 66% or the man performs more than 36%.The imbalance may be in part “real,” but also in part the result of rating differences. While men and women agree that the man does less housework in their home, wives rate their husbands as contributing 33% to the total housework, while husbands rate themselves as contributing 42%. Differences in ratings depend on who reports the housework, husband for both, wife for both, or husband and wife individually report their own housework, and what home activities are considered “housework”.Questions 19 to 21 are based on the passage you have just heard.【19】In the 1960s, how many hours did a woman spend on household chores?【20】Why does some woman love doing more housework than men?【21】What results in the differences in rating men’s and women’s share in doing housework?Passage ThreeA 31-year-old financial analyst from Queens fainted in front of an oncoming subway train. She survived but woke up to a whole new reality. “I opened my eyes and it was dark. And I thought I got home and I was waking up from a dream or something,” said Teena Katz, a subway accident victim. It wasn’t a dream. Teena Katz wasn’t home. And somehow, she wasn’t in pain. She was awake, alert, and crushed beneath a No. 7 subway train that broke both her legs.“I looked down and I saw that there was a big cut in my leg and an opening. And immediately I told whoever was speaking to me that I saw it but I wasn’t going to stare at it because I didn’t want to go into shock,” Katz said. That person was a doctor who was shocked to hear the 31-year-old financial analyst apologizing for delaying the train. Katz arrived back home Tuesday after a dozen surgeries and more than two-months in the hospital. Before the accident, her life was filled with activities like softball games, jogging, badminton. Now she faces a future of physical therapy, and necessary medical treatment. Even the mental hurdles are equally difficult to overcome.“I was also very independent. To now need help from someone for everything, is very hard for me,” Katz said. Questions 22 to 25 are based on the passage you have just heard.【22】What happened to Teena Katz?【23】What was Teena’s reaction to her wound in her leg?【24】What did Teena say to the doctor who was tending her?【25】How’s Teena’s life now?Section CThe whole world is accepting and adopting the ways towards the advancement of mobile technology.
1. Set up a mobile phone net work on the moon. 2. It is stable.
参考原⽂: A device that weighs less than 1 kilogram is part of a mission that will allow scientists to deliver fourth generation or 4G mobile coverage to the moon in 2019. If successful, the tiny device will provide the moon with its first ever mobile phone network. The lunar network will support high definition streaming of video and data between the moon and the earth. The network is part of a mission to the moon. This is a project with the goal of landing the first privately paid for mission to the moon. The 4G mission is set to launch from Cape Canaveral in the United States on a space X Falcon Nine Rocket in 2019. Mission to the moon intends to establish and test the first elements of a communications network on the moon. The scientists working on the project opted to build 4G rather than the fifth generation or 5G work. This is because fifth generation networks are still in testing and trial phases. This means that a 5G network may not yet be stable enough to work on the moon’s surface. Question 1. What are scientists planning to do? Question 2. Why did scientists choose to set up a 4G network in their mission?
A.to observe the wildlife in the two national park. A. by taking pictures for passers-by则要注意听取原文中的‘方式’等。
New report 11. B) Her little brother.Q: Who did Edison raise money for?
A. Her friend Erika.
C) By selling lemonade and pictures.Q: How did Edison raise money?原文:She decided to go outside and have a lemonade stand, make some jewelries and pictures and sell them.

What about?A: One of the press operators arrived an hour and a half late.B: But that's a straightforward affair. He will simply lose partof his pay. That's why we have a clock-in system.A: But the point is the man was clocked-in at 8 o'clock. We have John standing by the time clock, and he swears he saw nothing irregular.B: Is John reliable?A: Yes, he is. That's why we chose him for the job.B: Have you spoken to the man who was late?A: Not yet. I thought I'd have a word with you first. He's a difficult man, and I think there's been some trouble on the shop floor. I've got a feeling that trade union representative is behind this. The manager told me that Jack Green's been very active around the shop the last few days.B: Well, what do you want me to do?A: I was wondering if you'd see Smith, the man who was late, because you are so much better at handling things like this.B: Oh, alright. I'll see him. I must say I agree with you about there being bad feelings in the works. I've had the idea for sometime that Jack Green's been busy stirring things up in connectionwith the latest wage claim. He's always trying to make trouble. Well, I'll get the manager to send Smith up here.Q8. What will happen to the press operator who was late for the work according to the woman?Q9. What does the man say about John who stands by the time clock?Q10. Why does the man suggest the woman see the worker who was late?Q11. And they're talking about the British personality – thefamous British 'reserve'. It means that we aren't very friendly, we aren't very open.B: So do you think it's true?A: It's a difficult one. So many people who visit Britain sayit's difficult to make friends with British people. They say we're cold, reserved, unfriendly...B: I think it's true. Look at Americans or Australians. They speak the same language, but they're much more open. And you see it when you travel, people - I mean strangers - speak to you on the street or on the train. British people seldom speak on the train. Or the bus. Not in London, anyway.A: 'Not in London'. That's it. Capital cities are full of tourists and are never very friendly. People are different in other parts of the country.B: Not completely. I met a woman once, an Italian. She's been working in Manchester for two years, and no one - not one of her colleagues - had ever invited her to their home. They were friendly to her at work, but nothing else. She couldn't believe it. She said that would never happen in Italy.A: You know what they say – 'an Englishman's home is his castle'. It’s really difficult to get inside.B: Yeah. It's about being private. You go home to your house and your garden and you close the door. It's your place.A: That's why the British don't like flats. They prefer to livein houses.B: That’s true.Q12. What do foreigners generally think of British people according to the woman?Q13. What may British people typically do one the train according to the man?Q14. What does the man say about the Italian woman working in Manchester?Q15. At the same time, expenses in college pile up surprisingly quickly. A part time job is a good way to balance costs while ensuring there is enough time left over for both academic subjects and after-class activities. If you are a college student looking for a part time job, the best place to start your job search is right on campus. There are tons of on-campus job opportunities, and as a student, you’ll automatically be given hiring priority. Plus, on-campus jobs eliminate commuting time, and could be a great way to connect with academic and professional resources at your university. Check withyour school’s career service or employment office for help to find a campus job. Of course, there are opportunities for part-time workoff-campus, too. If you spend a little time digging for the right part time jobs, you’ll save yourself time when you find a job that leaves you with enough time to get your school work done, too. If you are a college student looking for work but worry you won’t have enough time to devote to academic subjects, consider working as a study hall or a library monitor. Responsibilities generally include supervising study spaces to ensure that a quiet atmosphere is maintained. It’s a pretty easy job, but one with lots of downtime-which means you will have plenty of time to catch up on reading, do homework or study for an exam.Q16: What does the speaker say about college students applyingfor on-campus jobs?Q17: What can students do to find a campus job according to the speaker?Q18: What does the speaker say is a library monitor’s responsibility?Passage TwoAgricultural workers in green tea fields near Mt. Kenya are gathering the tea leaves. It is beautiful to see. The rows of tea bushes are straight. All appears to be well. But the farmers who planted the bushes are worried. Nelson Kibara is one of them. He has been growing tea in the Kerugoya area for 40 years. He says the prices this year have been so low that he has made almost no profit. He says he must grow different kinds of tea if he is to survive.Mr. Kibara and hundreds of other farmers have been removing some of their tea bushes and planting a new kind of tea developed by the Tea Research Foundation of Kenya. Its leaves are purple and brown. When the tea is boiled, the drink has a purple color. Medical researchers have studied the health benefits of the new tea. They say it is healthier than green tea and could be sold for a price that is three to four times higher than the price of green tea.But Mr. Kibara says he has not received a higher price for his purple tea crop.He says the market for the tea is unstable and he is often forced to sell his purple tea for the same price as green tea leaves. Hesays there are not enough buyers willing to pay more for the purple tea.Q19. Why have tea farmers in Kenya decided to grow purple tea?Q20. What do researchers say about purple tea?Q21. What does Mr. Kibara find about purple tea?Passage ThreeToday's consumers want beautiful handcrafted s to wear and tohave for their home environment. They prefer something unique andthey demand quality. Craftsmen today are meeting this demand. People and homes are showing great change as more and more uniquehandcrafted items become available. Handcrafts are big business. No long does a good craftsman have to work in a job he dislikes all day and then try to create at night. He has earned his professional status. He is now a respected member of society. Parts of the fun of being a craftsman is meeting other craftsmen. They love to sharetheir ideas and materials and help others find markets for their work. Craftsmen have helped educate consumers to make wise choices. They help them become aware of design and technique. They help them relate their choice to its intended use. They often involve consumers intrying the craft themselves. When a group of craftsmen expends to include more members, a small craft organization is formed. Such an organization does a lot in training workshops in special media, craft marketing techniques, craft fairs and sales, festivals, TV appearances and demonstrations. State art councils help sponsor local arts and crafts festivals which draw crowds of tourist consumers. This boosts the local economy considerably because tourists not only buy crafts, but they also use the restaurants and hotels and other services of the area.Q22. The U.N. World Food Program says sub-Saharan Africa already has the world’s highest prevalence of hunger: one person in four is undernourished. Every day in Africa, 23 million children go to school hungry. The agency’s David Orr said that in the lower half of Africa, where weather is the main culprit, 2015 hasbeen an unusually difficult year.I think what makes things different this year is the combination of drought and then an El Nino weather event coming right after that, so that people are effectively being hit by two consecutive years of reduced rainfall. And it’s particularly difficult on a region where 70 percent of the population are subsistence farmers.Questions 5 to 7 are based on the news report you have just heard.Q5. Which country has suffered from hunger according to the news?Q6. In Africa, how many children are suffering from hunger?Q7. S. and usher in the start of the holiday shopping season. The winner is C hina’s S ingles’ Day, celebrated November 11, or 11.11.Singles’ Day began as a day for unmarried or uncoupled people to celebrate their lives. Single students, looking for an excuse to buy themselves presents, started it on November 11, 1993, reported The Guardian. It is symbolized by the four number ones in the date of November 11 —11. 11 —and is also called Double Eleven, in reference to the day it was started, said the BBC.It became a major shopping day in 2009. The CEO of an online shopping site —Alibaba —sought to increase sales at the e-commerce company. The CEO, Daniel Zhang, launched an annual online sale that day, said Fortune. When it first began, “Singles’ Day was very much an offline solace for actual single people,” n oted the website Atlas Obscura. “A small group of students at Nanjing University are said to have chosen 11.11 as aday that singles could do activities like karaoke together.”It quickly became a cultural phenomenon.Questions 1 and 2 are based on the news report you have just heard.Q1. What’s the biggest online shopping day in the world?Q2. When did the Singles’Day become a major shopping day?N e w s R e p o r t T w oTechnology Company Google has brought reliable Internet connections to Kampala, Uganda. Google is expanding high-speed Internet in the city, the company said. The project includes 120 locations in the Ugandan capital. It is part of an attempt to improve web infrastructure in Africa. Higher capacity means faster and cheaper access to customers. One day of unlimited data using the new network should cost 1,000 Ugandan shillings, the company said. That is equal to 30 American cents. About 8.5 million people use the Internet in Uganda. That is about 23 percent of the country’spopulation. Many in that country use cellular phone technology, but Internet service is not popular because it was expensive before Google’s Project Link. Broadband access to the Internet is still hard to find in many places in Africa. Project Link moved into the Ghana cities of Accra and Kumasi this autumn. Other big players on the Internet also aided Africa. Social media’s Facebook announced this fall better access to the Internet in Africa by using satellites.Questions 3 and 4 are based on the news report you have just heard.Q3. Which is the main idea of this news report?Q4. What is the population of Uganda?N e w s R e p o r t T h r e eCairo is known for its overcrowded roads, irregular driving practices and shaky old vehicles, but also for its air pollution. In recent months, though, environmental studies indicate there have been signs of improvement. That’s due in part to the removal of many of the capital’s old-fashioned black and white taxis. Most of these dated back to the 1960s and 70s and were in a poor state ofrepair. After new legislation demanded their removal from the roads, a low interest loan scheme was set up with three Egyptian banks so drivers could buy new cars. The government pays about $900 for old ones to be discarded and advertising on the new vehicles helps cover repayments. The idea has proved popular with customers—they can now travel in air-conditioned comfort and because the new cabs are metered, they don’t have to argue over fares. Banks and car manufacturers are glad for the extra business in tough economic times. As for the taxi drivers, most are delighted to be behind the wheel of new cars, although there have been a few complaints about switching from black and white to a plain white color.Questions 5 to 7 are based on the news report you have just heard.Q5. What change took place in Cairo recently?Q6. What helped bring about the change?Q7. Why do customers no longer argue with new cab drivers? 1. B2. C3. C4. A5. B6. C7. Educating the refugee children is an enormous task. One U. S. official says that a huge school system like the one in New York City would be overwhelmed. The United States says it is working with the United Nations to help bridge the education gap for refugee children. Without school, the effects will be negative and long-lasting. The United States provided Turkey with aid for education earlier. In December, it offered an additional 24 million dollars. Human Rights Watch says a quality education will ensure a more stable future for these children. The organization says about 90 percent of children in refugee camps run by the Turkish government attend school. But most of the children living outside of those camps are notreceiving education.Questions 1 and 2 are based on the news report you have just heard.Q1. What is the news report mainly about?Q2. If the plan goes ahead it will give Tasmania some of the toughest tobacco laws in the world. The current legal age to purchase, possess or smoke cigarettes in all Australian states is 18. Critics have complained the proposed restrictions would be a violation of civil liberties. Australia already has some of the world’s toughest anti-smoking policies. It introducedso-called plain packaging four years ago, where packs are colored an identical olive brown and are covered in health warnings that include pictures. The country is also one of the most expensive places in the world to buy cigarettes —from around $15 a pack.Parts of the world already ban cigarette sales to those under 21, including Kuwait and, from next year, Hawaii. Around one-in-five Tasmanians smoke, with the vast majority taking up the habit before the age of 25. The Tasmanian government proposals are part of a five-year plan to make the state Australia’s healthiest by 2025.Questions 5 to 7 are based on the news report you have just heard.Q5. Safety concerns have been one of the biggest reasons why the country has lost over half a billion in revenue already in the first six months of 2016. The terror attacks in Paris last November were called Europe’s worst in the past decade. Besides violence, workers’ strikes and heavy floods are said to have also been why international tourists have stayed away. So far in the Paris region, there’s been a 46% decline in Japanese visitors, 35% fewer Russians and 27% fewer Italians.American travelers seem the least affected. Their numbers have only dropped by roughly 5%. According to the French government, the country is the No.1 tourist destination in the world, and tourism is extremely important to the French economy. The sector represents roughly 9% of its GDP. The head of Paris Tourism Board said, “It’s time to realize that the tourism sector is goingthrough an industrial disaster.”Questions 1 and 2 are based on the news report you have just heard.Q1. After making a stop for a few hours at a British station on the edge of Antarctica, the two workers were flown to the southernmost Chilean city of Punta Arenas. In a chaotic two days of flying, the rescue team flew 3,000 miles roundtrip from the British station Rothera to pick up the workers at the US Amundsen-Scott st ation at the South Pole. “The two patients aboard will be transported to a medical facility that can provide a level of care that is not available at Amundsen-Scott,” says a spokesperson. Normally planesdon’t go to the polar post from February to October because of the dangers of flying in the pitch-dark and cold. “Antarctica creates a hostile environment,” says the operations director for the British Antarctic Survey. “If you are not careful, it’ll come around and bite you.”Questions 3 and 4 are based on the news report you have just heard.Q3. Rick Rahim from Virginia flies helicopters for a living, and when his seven-year-old son’s tooth became loose, he did not waste time by tying it to a door handle. Instead, Mr. Rahim tied one end of a string around his son’s tooth and the other end to his full-sized commercial helicopter. The father of four posted video clip of his playful venture on Facebook, advising parents to do fun and creative stuff with theirkids. The video shows him launching the helicopter into the air and flying just far enough to successfully remove the loose tooth. At the end of the video, Mr. Rahim assures watchers that the circumstances were safe, and that he has 13 years of helicopter flying experience behind him. “You’ve got to do everything safe in life, and that’s what I did today,” he said. Mr. Rahim later said that although some parents have used remote control helicopters to pull teeth before, he might be the first to use a full-sized aircraft, as he can’t find evidence that it has been done before.Questions 5 to 7 are based on the news report you have just heard.Q5.
♑抓小词:极端词(first,most,just,only,because)。
What is the passage mainly about?;What isthe passage talking about?;What is the main idea of thistalk?
iii.
含有Keyword,高频词,first,development,formation,invention,evolution,effects,and正确可能性大。
微观题:抓住(first,most,just,only,because)文章表达思想的亮点。
