同学们在阅读中常常会遇到自己熟悉的词,但按熟悉的意思去理解却逻辑不通,因为这些词除我们在以往接触的材料中的意思外,还有我们不熟悉的别的意思,这就是所谓的熟词生义。
这就要求我们在阅读中要善于根据上下文去理解词义,在平时要多阅读,在阅读中积累遇到的熟词生义。
以下是笔者整理的2018年全国卷真题中出现的“熟词生义”,供同学们参考。

感觉考生得分最差的是填比较级中的than和词形变化题。
两个比较级今年语法填空有两个小题考查比较级:According to a review of evidence in a medical journal,run鄄ners live three years61(long)than non-runners...While running regularly can’t make you live forever,the review says it is more effective at lengthening life65walking,cycling or swimming.从阅卷情况来看,第61题考生做得比较好,绝大部分考生都能填出longer。
然而,第65题,仅有极少数考生填出than。
很多同学填了that,it,which等。
这两道题都是考查比较级,为什么65题的正确率那么低呢?原因可能是:(1)考生没有注意到more effective这个比较级。
(2)将指代running的it误以为是形式主语,也就没有弄清本句是running与walking,cycling or swimming的比较,对应与61题句中的runners与non-runners。
