Snow-peaks would soon beIn dark profile to break constellations. Beyond what height Hangs now the black speck? Beyond what range will gold eyes seeNew ranges rise to mark a last scrawl of light?Or, having tasted that atmosphere's thinness, does itHang motionless in dying vision beforeIt knows it will accept the mortal limit,And swing into the great circular downwardness that will restoreThe breath of earth? Of rock? Of rot? Of other suchItems, and the darkness of whatever dream we clutch? 2Morning in the Burned Houseby Margaret AtwoodIn the burned house I am eating breakfast. You understand: there is no house, there is no breakfast, yet here I am.The spoon which was melted scrapes againstthe bowl which was melted also.No one else is around.Where have they gone to, brother and sister, mother and father? Off along the shore, perhaps. Their clothes are still on the hangers, their dishes piled beside the sink, which is beside the woodstovewith its grate and sooty kettle, every detail clear, tin cup and rippled mirror. The day is bright and songless, the lake is blue, the forest watchful. In the east a bank of cloudrises up silently like dark bread.I can see the swirls in the oilcloth,I can see the flaws in the glass, those flares where the sun hits them.I can't see my own arms and legsor know if this is a trap or blessing, finding myself back here, where everythingin this house has long been over, kettle and mirror, spoon and bowl, including my own body, including the body I had then, including the body I have nowas I sit at this morning table, alone and happy, bare child's feet on the scorched floorboards(I can almost see)in my burning clothes, the thin green shortsand grubby yellow T-shirtholding my cindery, non-existent,radiant flesh. Incandescent. 3Mosquitoby Myronn HardyShe visits me when the lights are out, when the sun is loving another part of the world. She passes through the net I sleep under likea cloud its holes are easily navigable. Her buzzing tells me that she doesn't want my legs arms cheeks or chest.No.She craves adventure wanting to travel throughthe dark canal the spiraling cave where earthquakes are wind. Her prize is in sight the gelatinous mass controlling this machine. How beautiful she thinks it is her needle mouth filling with water. Her children will know physics geometry will understandEnglish Spanish perhaps Portuguese. They will be haunted their whole lives by trees guns and a boom that won't cease. She cries before drinking the fluid is salty-sweet.Oh if my mother had done this for me I would have lived关于优美的英文诗词篇4Mostly Mick Jaggerby Catie Rosemurgy1Thank god he stuck his tongue out. When I was twelve I was in dangerof taking my body seriously.I thought the ache in my nipple was priceless.I thought I should stay very stilland compare it to a button,a china saucer,a flash in a car side-mirror,so I could name the ache either big or little, then keep it forever. He blew no one a kiss, then turned into a maw. After I saw him, when a wish moved in my pants.I nurtured it. I stalked around my roomkicking my feet up just like him, makinga big deal of my lips. I was my own big boy.I wouldn't admit it then, but be definitely cocks his hipas if he is his own little girl.2People ask me——I make up interviewswhile I brush my teeth——"So, what do you remember best about your childhood?" My hands are pretendingto have just discovered my own face.My name is written out in metal studsacross my little pink jumper.I've got a mirror and a good ideaof the way I want my face to look. When I glance sideways my smile should twitchas if a funny picture of me is taped upinside the corner of my eye.A picture where my hair is combed over each shoulder,my breasts are well-supported, and my teeth barely show.A picture where I'm trying hard to say "beautiful."He always says "This is my skinny rib cage,my one, two chest hairs."That's all he ever says.Think of a bird with no feathersor think of a hundred lips bruising every inch of his skin.

Twas the Night Before Christmas。

A Tranquil Night (by Li Bai)Before my bed a frost of light,Is it hoarfrost upon the ground?Eyes raised,I see the moon so bright;Head bent,in homesickness I am drowned.教学方法第一步:教师将常用的英文诗歌赏析表达术语给学生,如:rhyme(韵脚)、rhythm(节奏)、image(意象)、simile(明喻)、metaphor(暗喻)、exaggeration(夸张)等。

As fair / art thou / my bon/nie lass,So deep / in luve / am I :And I / will luve / thee still,/ my dear,Till a` / the seas / gang dry:Robert Burns(1759-1796):My Luve Is like a Red,Red Rose 注;art=are luve=love bonnie=beautiful a`=all gang=go上例中为四音步与三音步交叉,可标示为:︶-/︶-/︶-/(︶-)2.

下例中为四音步扬抑格(少一个轻音节),可标示为:-︶/-︶/-︶/-Tyger!/ Tyger!/ burning / brightIn the / forests / of the / nightWilliam Blake:The Tyger3.

如:三音步抑抑扬格︶︶-/︶︶-/︶︶-Like a child / from the womb,Like a ghost / from the tomb,I arise / and unbuild / it again.4.

如:两音步扬抑抑格-︶︶/-︶︶ˊTouch her not / ˊscornfully,ˊThink of her / ˊmournfully.- Thomas Hood5.

O ˊhush thee / my ˊbabie / thy ˊsire was / a knight.

I shot an arrow into the air,It fell to earth,I knew not where; For,so swiftly it flew, the sightCould not follow it in its flight.Henry Wadsworth Longfellow:The Arrow and the Song2)交叉韵:abab型。

Sunset and evening star,And one clear call for me!And may there be no moaning of the bar,When I put out to sea,Alfred Tennyson(1809-1892):Crossing the Bar3)同韵:有的诗押韵,一韵到底,大多是在同一节诗中共用一个韵脚。

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,But I have promises to keep,And miles to go before I sleep,And miles to go before I sleep.Robert Frost (1874-1963):Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening2.

The fair breeze blew, the white foam flew,The furrow followed free,We were the first that ever burstInto that silent sea.T.S. Coleridge:Rime of the Acient Mariner3.

Spring,the sweet spring,is the year…s pleasant king;Then blooms each thing,then maids dance in a ring,Cold dath not sting,the pretty birds do sing:Cuckoo,jug-jug,pu-we,to-witta-woo!Thomas Nashe(1567-1601):Spring,the Sweet Spring

1) There was a young lady of NiggerWho smiled as she rode on a tiger; They returned from the rideWith the lady inside,And the smile on the face of the tiger.2) A tutor who taught on the fluteTried to teach two tooters to toot,“Is it harder to toot, orSaid the two to the tutor,To tutor two tooters to toot?”3.

Across the watery bale, and shout again,Responsive to his call, -- with quivering peals, And long halloos, and screams, and echoes loud. Redoubled and redoubled: concourse wildOf jocund din!…William Wordsworth: There Was a Boy4.

1. That Time of YearThat time of year thou may‟st in me beholdWhen yellow leaves,or none,or few, do hangUpon those boughs which shake against the cold,Bare ruined choirs where late the sweet birds sang,In me thou see‟st the twilight of such dayAs after sunset fadeth in the west,When by and by black night doth take away,Death‟s second self, that seals up all in rest.In me thou see‟st the glowing of such fire,That on the ashes of his youth doth lie.As the deathbed whereon it must expire,Consumed with that which it was nourished by.This you perceivest, which makes thy love more strong,To love that well which thou must leave ere long.Notes:may‟st:may behold:see late:no long ago thou:you see‟st:see fadeth:fades????doth:does????seals?up?all?at?rest:彻底埋葬thy:your perceivest: perceive ere long: before long此诗是莎士比亚(William Shakespeare, 1564-1616)的一首十四行诗。
