以下是用词及句子结构方面的典型错误。

试改：I look for ward to holidays like the MidAutumn Festival and the Spring Festival．[例2] 原句：I refused to go to the show. Because I had been up late last night and needed sleep. 分析：斜体部分是原因状语从句，不能独立存在。
试改：I refused to go to the show because I had been up late last night and needed sleep

1. 结构不完整[例3] 原句：It was difficult to decide which choice to make. To return to school or to accept the job. 分析：斜体部分为不定式结构，不能充当句子。
试改：It was difficult to decide which choice to make, to return to school or to accept the job.[例4] 原句：The traveller was too tired and found a rock to sit. 分析：斜体部分为rock 的定语，而sit为不及物动词，后面漏了介词on。
又如，不能说They have no houses to live，而要说They have no houses to live. 试改：The traveller was too tired and found a rock to sit on.

试改：:He is better than anybody else.

2．修饰语错位[例7] 原句：Please give the book to the boy with the blue cover．分析：斜体部分修饰the book，而非the boy. 试改：Please give the book with the blue cover to the boy.[例8] 原句：I only saw him once after that．分析：only要放在它所修饰的词之前，在句中only修饰的应是once，而非saw。
试改：I saw him only once after that.

如果把nearly 放在现有的位置，就不能表示“挣了近200美元”。
试改：During the holidays the college student earnednearly two hundred dollars．[例10] 原句：I have read the two first chapters．分析：序数词应放在基数词之前。
同样，“最后两章” 应说the last two chapters；而不是the two last chapters。
试改：I have read the first two chapters．
