介绍澳大利亚的标志性动物考拉的英语作文
介绍澳大利亚的标志性动物考拉的英语作文全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1My Favorite Animal: The Cuddly KoalaHave you ever seen a really cute and cuddly animal that looks like a teddy bear? Well, that's what a koala looks like! Koalas are my absolute favorite animal. They are these adorable, fuzzy creatures that live in Australia. I'm going to tell you all about them!First of all, koalas are marsupials. That means the baby koala, called a joey, grows inside a pouch on the mother's belly. After being born so tiny, the joey climbs into the pouch to eat the mother's milk and keep growing. Isn't that cool? The pouch keeps the little baby safe and warm.Koalas are kind of funny looking animals. Their bodies are round and gray, with a cute button nose right in the middle of their face. They have big round ears that stick up on top of their head. My favorite part is their fluffy fur that makes them look like a stuffed animal you want to hug! Their fur feels super soft and cuddly.Even though they look cute and harmless, koalas actually have really sharp claws on their paws that help them climb trees easily. Their claws are kind of like tough fingernails. Koalas spend almost their whole lives up in the trees munching on eucalyptus leaves which is their favorite food.Speaking of eucalyptus, did you know koalas are incredibly picky eaters? There are over 600 different types of eucalyptus trees in Australia, but koalas will only eat the leaves from about 30 of those types! They have a really specialized diet. Eucalyptus leaves don't have a lot of nutrients, so koalas have to conserve energy and sleep or rest up to 20 hours per day. That's like only being awake for 4 hours! I wish I could sleep that much.Koalas sleep, eat, and live almost all of their time up in the trees. Their bodies are perfectly adapted for that tree-living lifestyle. They have sharp claws to grip the branches, and special spade-shaped pouches on their bottoms that help them sit comfortably in the fork of a tree. Their feet are actually two "hands" with two opposable digits on each – kind of like our thumbs – that allow them to grasp and climb the tree limbs really well. Koalas hardly ever leave their trees, maybe just to change trees if their leaves run out.Even though they seem slow and sleepy, koalas have a pretty cool way of communicating with other koalas. They make lots of different sounds like grunts, bellows, snarls, and even snore-like noises! The loudest sound is a deep, loud bellow that the males make to attract mates and warn off other male koalas from their territory. I saw a video of it online and it was really loud and startling! Mother koalas also make gentle grunting noises to their joeys.Koalas give birth to just one joey at a time, since joeys stay in the pouch for about 6 months after they are born. After leaving the pouch, the joey will ride on its mother's back for several more months, clinging to her fur, until it is ready to live independently. The joeys are really cute and look just like little fuzzy balls when they're first born. One sad thing about koalas is that their populations are threatened in the wild. Habitat loss from tree-clearing has made it hard for koalas to find adequate living spaces with the right types of eucalyptus trees they need. Forest fires and dog attacks by roaming pets are other big threats. It's estimated there are only around 300,000 koalas left in the wild today.A few years ago, there was even talk of Australia putting the koala on the "endangered" species list if their numbers keptdeclining. Thankfully, conservation efforts have increased to help protect their habitats and living spaces. There are laws against cutting down certain trees where koalas live and sleep. People also take special care when building new roads and housing areas to look out for koala populations. In some parks and zoos, you can sometimes even see koalas up close! I went to a zoo once that had a special "koala encounter" where you could pay a little bit extra to go into their enclosure and see the koalas sitting in the trees nearby. We weren't allowed to touch or get too close in case it scared them. But we could stand right near their tree and watch them munching on leaves and resting. It was so cool to be that close to a real koala!I just think koalas are the cutest, most unique and special animals. From their fuzzy teddy bear looks to their interesting tree-living lifestyle, there's just something so lovable about them. If I could have any animal in the world as a pet, I would definitely want a koala! Of course, I know they are wild animals that need to stay in their natural eucalyptus forest habitats. But a kid can dream, right?Australia is so lucky to have the koala as their iconic animal ambassador. Whenever you think of Australia, one of the firstthings that comes to mind is that cuddly gray marsupial munching on eucalyptus leaves up in the trees. I hope that people continue working hard to protect koala habitats so these special creatures can live safely in the wild for many years to come. The world needs more koalas!篇2My Favorite Australian Animal - The Cuddly Koala!Do you know what my favorite animal from Australia is? It's the koala! Koalas are so cute and cuddly. They kind of look like teddy bears, but they're real live animals. How cool is that?Koalas are marsupials, which means the mom carries her babies in a pouch on her belly. Baby koalas are called joeys. When they're first born, the joeys are so tiny – only about the size of a jelly bean! They climb into mom's pouch right away and stay there for around 6 months, drinking her milk and growing bigger and furrier.Once the joeys are big enough, they start peeking their heads out of the pouch and eventually climb onto mom's back for rides. The babies stay with their moms for another 6 months or so until they're ready to live on their own. Isn't that amazing how the moms take such good care of their babies?Koalas are pretty mellow and relaxed animals. They spend most of their day sleeping and resting in the branches of eucalyptus trees. They sleep around 20 hours every day! When they are awake, they eat eucalyptus leaves. Eucalyptus has a really strong, sort of medicine-y smell. The koalas' bodies have actually adapted in a special way to handle the toxins in eucalyptus.Koalas have thick woolly grey fur that is nice and soft. Their fur helps keep them warm while they're sleeping outside in the trees. Koalas also have big round fuzzy ears that are just the cutest! Their faces look kind of like they're always smiling. Koalas have big puffy noses that are really adorable too.Even though koalas are super soft and cute, you wouldn't really want to hug one if you met it in the wild. Their claws are really sharp for climbing trees and they could scratch you by accident. Plus mother koalas can get really defensive if they think their joeys are in danger. They've been known to put up quite a fight to protect their babies!Koalas spend their whole lives hanging out up in eucalyptus trees. Their bodies are specially designed for living in trees. They have grooved paw pads for gripping branches and sharp clawsfor climbing. Koalas even have an extra special fingernail just for grooming their incredibly soft, fluffy fur.Koalas make the most hilarious snoring, grunting sounds when they sleep. Sometimes if you're walking in the woods you can hear them before you see them all curled up napping in a tree. Their bellies go in and out like tiny living teddy bears when they breath. So sweet! Now you probably think koalas sound like the most perfect, cuddly animals ever based on how cute and huggable they look. And they are incredibly cute. But koalas actually lead pretty solitary lives. They prefer being alone most of the time rather than around other koalas. Maybe that's why they sleep so much – to avoid any awkward social situations!Although koalas do look very teddy bear-like, they're actually more closely related to wombats and kangaroos. They're all marsupials that originated in Australia. Koalas' closest living relative is the wombat. Like wombats, koalas move very slowly and sluggishly. They like to take their sweet time eating, sleeping, and basically just living their best koala life up in the trees. There are a few different koala species, but the ones you're most likely to see are the Queensland koala or the New South Wales koala. Queensland koalas tend to be a bit bigger while theNew South Wales koalas are a little smaller. But they're both absolutely adorable!Sadly, koala populations in the wild have declined a lot over the past few decades. This is primarily due to habitat loss from urbanization, bushfires, and disease. Many conservation efforts are underway to help protect the cute, furry creatures and their eucalyptus forest homes. I really hope these amazing animals will be around for kids like me to enjoy for many, many years to come.Koalas are just the coolest, most fascinating animals in my opinion. They're ridiculously fuzzy and cute. But they're also tough little tree-dwellers perfectly designed for their eucalyptus-munching lifestyle. Whether they're curled up napping with their adorable teddy bear bellies going up and down, grooming their soft fur, or carrying their joeys on their backs, koalas are always incredibly lovable. I'm so lucky Australia has such an amazingly snuggly national animal!篇3My Favorite Australian Animal: The Cuddly KoalaAustralia is a huge country with lots of cool and unique animals. From the bouncing kangaroos to the slithering snakes,Australia has some of the most amazing creatures in the world. But my absolute favorite is the adorable, fuzzy koala!Koalas are often called "koala bears" but they are actually not bears at all. They are marsupials which means their babies grow inside a special pouch on their mom's belly. Isn't that wild? Baby koalas are called joeys and they are some of the cutest things you'll ever see. They are tiny, only about an inch long when first born! The joey lives inside the mom's cozy pouch for around 6 months, drinking milk and growing bigger and stronger. These cuddly critters look a lot like teddy bears with their gray fuzzy fur, round ears, button noses, and big fluffy bottoms. They have sharp claws on their paws which help them climb trees and grip onto branches. Koalas are excellent climbers and spend most of their time up in the trees, rarely coming down to the ground.Koalas are very sleepy animals - they snooze around 20 hours per day! Their favorite activity is eating eucalyptus leaves and napping. Eucalyptus is a type of tree that grows in Australia. Its leaves are the koala's sole food source. A koala will chomp through around a pound of the tough, waxy eucalyptus leavesevery single day. That's their only food and source of water since the leaves contain moisture.Munching all those leaves makes koalas very low energy since the eucalyptus doesn't provide much nutrition. That's probably why they sleep and rest so much - they need to conserve every bit of their limited energy. Aren't koalas just the laziest, silliest creatures? I love how relaxed and chilled out they are. When they are awake, koalas mostly just chill in the trees, munching away on leaves. Occasionally, you might hear them making some cute little grunting or bellowing noises to communicate with other koalas. Mama koalas and their babies make squeaking sounds too. If a koala feels threatened or gets cranky, it might issue a more alarming loud snore-like snore. But mostly they are very quiet, relaxed little fluff balls. One of the most interesting things about koalas is how they breed and have babies. Girl koalas are only able to get pregnant for a few days per year! And the baby koala is so tiny when first born that it has to crawl from the birthing area into the mom's pouch to continue growing. The poor little things make a difficult, draining journey on their first day of life. I feel bad for the babies but I guess it makes koalas even more tough and amazing!Sadly, koalas are currently vulnerable and their populations are decreasing due to habitat loss, disease, dog attacks, and other threats. Eucalyptus forests are being cut down in Australia to make way for urban areas, farm lands, and businesses. This leaves koalas with nowhere to live and feed. Climate change and drought have also harmed eucalyptus trees. A horrible disease called chlamydia is also impacting many koala populations. There are great organizations in Australia working hard to protect koala habitats and rehabilitate sick or injured koalas though. Maybe when I grow up, I can visit Australia and volunteer to help take care of these special creatures! For now, I'll just admire them from afar and dream of one day cuddling one of those soft, squeezable buddies.Koalas are just the coolest, most huggable animals around in my opinion. They truly represent the amazing and unique wildlife found only in Australia. With their teddy bear looks and laidback, sleepy attitude, it's no wonder koalas are one of the most beloved animals in the world. I hope these iconic creatures will be around for many, many years to come so future kids like me can learn about them and fall in love with their cuteness!篇4My Favorite Animal: The Cuddly KoalaHave you ever seen a really cute and cuddly animal? An animal that looks like a teddy bear but is real? That's the koala! The koala is my absolute favorite animal. Koalas are found only in Australia and they are one of the most iconic symbols of that country.Koalas are marsupials, which means their babies are born really tiny and then crawl into a pouch on their mom's belly to continue growing. That's right - baby koalas are called joeys, just like baby kangaroos! When the joeys are first born, they are only about the size of a jelly bean. Isn't that crazy? After being carried in the pouch for around 6 months, the joey will start to poke its head out. Once it's big and strong enough, it will ride on its mom's back, holding onto her fur. Mother koalas are very patient and caring with their babies. The joeys stay with their mom for up to a year, learning all the important koala skills like climbing trees and finding the best eucalyptus leaves to munch on.Speaking of eucalyptus, that's pretty much all koalas eat! They love munching on the fresh leaves from eucalyptus trees. In fact, adult koalas can eat over a pound of eucalyptus every single day. That's like a human eating 40 cheeseburgers! With all thoseleaves, you'd think koalas would have excellent nutrient intake, but eucalyptus actually doesn't have many vitamins and minerals. So koalas have to conserve as much energy as possible by...sleeping up to 20 hours a day! Now that's my kind of animal.Koalas are incredibly cute and fuzzy creatures. Their fur is soft and thick, which helps keeps them warm while they're napping in the trees. They have big, round, fuzzy ears that can pivot to pick up even the smallest sounds. Their eyes are big and round too, with eyelashes to protect them. Koalas have two thumb-like digits on their front paws that help them grip branches tightly as they climb. On their bottom, they have sharp claws on their back paws for digging firm grips into tree trunks. My favorite part of koalas is their adorable little noses! They have a leathery nose that protrudes a bit and is very moist, which helps them make that classic "honk honk" snoring sound when they sleep. Their noses also have an excellent sense of smell for sniffing out the most tender, juicy eucalyptus leaves around.Sadly, koalas face a lot of threats in the wild due to habitat loss, disease, dog attacks, and even getting hit by cars. Many conservation efforts are in place to protect these beloved Aussie icons. Koalas are often described as "living plushies" because of how huggable and cuddly they look. But remember, they arewild animals, not pets! It's best to admire koalas from a distance and never try to pick one up or cuddle it yourself.I just love koalas so much. They are lazy, sleepy little buddies who spend most of their time eating and napping up in eucalyptus trees. Whenever I imagine Australia, the first thing that comes to mind are these irresistibly cute critters. Koalas have become such an important part of Australian culture and identity. From appearing on stamps and coins to being celebrated on "National Hug A Koala Day," these furry marsupials capture the hearts of people around the world. I sure hope koala populations stay safe and strong so future generations can enjoy them too!篇5My Favorite Animal: The Cuddly KoalaHave you ever seen a koala bear? They aren't really bears at all! Koalas are one of the cutest, most unique animals in the whole world. They live only in Australia, just like me! I'm going to tell you all about these adorable Aussie creatures.Koalas are marsupials, which means the mommy koalas carry their babies in a pouch on their belly. The babies are called joeys and they are born tiny - only about the size of a jelly bean! Thejoey climbs into the mom's cozy pouch where it continues growing for around 6 months before emerging.Even after leaving the pouch, a baby koala rides on its mother's back, holding on tight with its little arms and strong claws. They stay with their moms for up to a year before going out on their own. Isn't that sweet? Koalas make such caring, loving moms!As adults, koalas are kind of like very huggable teddy bears. They have soft, woolly gray fur covering their bodies. Koalas have a large head with a cute button nose and big fuzzy ears that stick up. Their eyes are round and their mouths are shaped almost like a smiley face. With their plush fur and portly belly, they just look like adorable stuffed animals come to life! But koalas aren't stuffed - they are very much alive, though they do spend a lot of time sleeping and resting. In fact, these sleepy marsupials can snooze up to 20 hours per day! Koalas need all that rest because the eucalyptus leaves they eat provide very little energy. Their bodies have to work hard to digest the leaves' tough fibers and extract nutrients.Eucalyptus leaves are pretty much all koalas eat. These creatures are very picky eaters! Out of over 600 eucalyptus species, koalas will only eat around 30 to 40 of them. Lucky forkoalas, Australia has plenty of eucalyptus trees, which are also called "gum trees."Koalas live their whole lives up in the trees, hanging out on branches and munching on those eucalyptus leaves. Their bodies are specially designed for this treetop lifestyle. Koalas have sharp claws that help them climb easily and grip securely onto branches as they sleep. Their back legs are tiny but very muscular to help cling to trees.Koalas have an interesting way of communicating too. You might hear them making a variety of sounds like bellows, snarls, and snore-like noises. But the funniest koala call is when a baby joey lets out a loud "Aaah! Aaah!" that almost sounds like a human baby crying! The biggest threat to cuddly koalas is loss of their forest homes. Wildfires, droughts, urbanization, and deforestation have destroyed many eucalyptus forests over the years. This puts koala populations at risk since they can only survive by eating certain types of eucalyptus leaves found in specific forest areas.Thankfully, there are organizations in Australia working hard to protect koala habitats and keep these iconic animals from going extinct. Many parks and reserves have been created as safe sanctuaries for koalas to live and breed. People are alsoreplanting eucalyptus trees in certain areas to provide koalas with more food sources.I really hope these conservation efforts keep working, because the world needs more koalas! They are such gentle, peaceful creatures. Koalas represent the beauty of Australia's natural environment. With their fuzzy ears and friendly teddy bear looks, koalas have to be one of the most huggable, adorable animals around. I would love to visit Australia one day just to see a koala up close! What a dream that would be.篇6My Favorite Animal: The Cuddly KoalaHave you ever seen a koala? They are the cutest, fluffiest animals ever! Koalas are my absolute favorite animal. They live in Australia which is a really far away country. I'd love to go there one day just to see koalas in the wild!Koalas are marsupials, which means the baby koalas are really tiny when they're born - only about the size of a jellybean! The moms carry their babies in a special pouch on their belly for around 6 months until they're big enough to come out. Isn't that amazing?Baby koalas are called joeys, and they're just about the most adorable thing you've ever seen. They're so small and fuzzy, with their tiny little noses and grabbing hands. When the joeys are first born, they're actually so tiny that they can fit in the palm of your hand! They use their strong arms to crawl from the birth canal into their mom's cozy pouch to continue growing. How crazy is that?Once the joeys are older and stronger, they start riding around on their mom's back with their little arms wrapped around her. I've seen pictures and it's just the sweetest thing ever. The joeys stay with their moms for up to a year, snuggling up in her warm fur and learning all about being a koala.Koalas might look like cute teddy bears, but don't be fooled - they're actually pretty lazy! Koalas sleep up to 20 hours every single day. They spend almost all their time just lounging around in eucalyptus trees munching on the leaves. I wish I could be a koala and just nap all day!The koala's fur is thick and woolly, sort of like a sheep. Their fur helps keep them warm while they're sleeping outdoors in the trees. Koalas have special spiky claws on their paws that are perfect for gripping onto branches and tree trunks. Their claws make them great climbers!Koalas are pretty slow and relaxed, but they can be a bit grumpy sometimes too. If another koala gets too close or tries taking their favorite sleeping tree, koalas will let out a big growl or chomp their jaws as a warning. They sound kind of terrifying when they're angry! Most of the time though, koalas are very peaceful and just want to be left alone to eat and sleep. My biggest dream is to go to Australia and see koalas in person. I would give anything to be able to snuggle and cuddle a real koala! They just look so soft and huggable. If I ever do get to meet a koala, I'll make sure to be very gentle and not disturb their sleep. I want koalas to like me!Koalas are such special, one-of-a-kind animals. They're found naturally only in Australia, so we're really lucky that they even exist. Sadly, koala populations have gone down a lot in recent years because their forest homes are being destroyed. I really hope that people work hard to protect koala habitats so the cute, sleepy koalas don't disappear forever. If you ever get a chance to see koalas, I bet you'll fall in love with them right away just like I did. With their adorable fuzzy ears, button noses, and big fluffy bodies, koalas are just about the cutest creatures on the whole planet! Koalas are definitely Australia's most lovable animal ambassadors. I can't wait untilI'm older and get to travel to Australia to meet a real koala bear. They're simply the best!。

Have you see these tow pictures? Little guys are always cute!First, I will present duckbill, when it comes to duckbill ,there’s a funny story. The unusual appearance of this egg-laying, venomous , duck-billed, beaver-tailed,otter-footed mammal baffled European naturalists when they first found it, with some considering it an elaborate fraud.Duckbill, also named platypus, is a semiaquatic半水生的mammal endemic to eastern Australia. It is one of the five extant species of monotremes, the only mammals that lay eggs instead of giving birth. It is one of the few venomous mammals, the male duckbill having a spur on the hind foot that delivers a venom capable of causing pain to humans. The unique features of the duckbill make it an important subject in the study of evolutionary biology and a recognisable and symbol of Australia. Now, you must have some outlines of duckbill and may be curious about why it is so famous. Minimum temperatures are moderated by the lack of mountains and the influence of surrounding oceans. Australia is relatively arid, with 80% of the land having a rainfall less than 600 milimetres. per year and 50% having even less than 300 millimetres. Most Australians live near the wetter more moderate south eastern coasts primarily in major cities.
Why there are so many rare animals
Because Australia is a relatively closed, it's contact with the outside world is very few, less influence by the species of alien species in the long evolution process, thus evolved a relatively independent species system. And, the Australian species affected by external shocks is less, so that it can keep some of the more backward species, such as marsupial animal, the animal in other continents already because the survival of the fittest in natural selection rule to be eliminated. So, there are so many rare animal in Australia.

介绍澳大利亚的标志性动物考拉的英语作文
介绍澳大利亚的标志性动物考拉的英语作文English: The iconic animal of Australia, the koala, is known for its cute and cuddly appearance. These marsupials can be found in the eucalyptus forests of Eastern Australia, where they spend most of their time sleeping in trees. Koalas are highly specialized to their diet of eucalyptus leaves, which provide them with the necessary water and nutrients. They have a unique digestive system that allows them to detoxify the leaves and efficiently extract the limited nutrients from them. Koalas are also known for their low metabolic rate and slow movement, as they conserve energy by resting for up to 20 hours a day. Despite their adorable appearance, koalas can be quite aggressive when threatened, using their sharp claws and teeth for self-defense. Due to habitat loss and disease, koala populations are under threat, and conservation efforts are crucial to ensure their survival in the wild.中文翻译: 澳大利亚的标志性动物考拉以其可爱和讨人喜欢的外观而闻名。

Several Famous Animals in Australia
Several Famous Animals in AustraliaAustralia is a country with many interesting kinds of special animals. After I learn about Australia, I become quite interested in the animals in Australia. And that’s why I choose the topic. The report is to introduce four kinds of famous animals of the beautiful country and show some conditions of them now. They are kangaroos, koalas, platypuses and the greater bilbies.KangaroosKangaroos are a kind of marsupial and mammal animal. They have bags inside their bodies to hold things. If you see them for yourself, you may catch a picture where a kangaroo hold its child in the bag. Kangaroos have long feet and big back legs with great strength, which can help them to hop freely. In fact, they are the only mammal that can hop with large bodies. When they make a trip, they hop on their back legs and keep a balance with their tails, which are full of muscle. The way can help them to save energy and cover long distance efficiently. The front legs of kangaroos are very small and usually work as the support for the animals to change position and graze things. And the special way is called crawl walking. In addition, they are good at swimming. In some cases, they jump into the water near them to escape from other guys’ threat. And people call them differently. Male kangaroos are usually called bucks and female ones are called does. Young kangaroos are regarded as joeys. A group of kangaroos are called a mob or a troop. There was something interesting that can show how the word kangaroo came. When the early explorers first saw the kangaroos, they regarded them as strange. In their eyes, the marsupials looked like deer without antlers and could both stand like a man and hop like frogs. The explorers even thought that a kangaroo with a joey in its pouch had two heads. In Australia aboriginal language, people call the animals gungurru. When English people came to the aboriginal area and heard that, they just pronounced the word as kangaroo. Later people use the word to refer to the special kind of “deer”.Kangaroos usually eat grass and they often have meals in the early morning and late afternoon. The other time during a day is usually spent on having rests in cool places. They drink water if they can find it and if they can not, they will not feel sad, because they can go without water for very long time. In hot days, they first scrape the ground using the front paws and then lie in the cool place they have worked out. It is really an interesting fact that the kangaroos do not sweat even in hot weather. They have a distinctive way to make themselves cool. When the weather is hot, they first make their front paws wet with their mouths and then rub the moisture onto their chests to feel cool. During drought time, large groups of kangaroos usually move to large parks and farmlands to look for food, which often makes them into conflict with humans and even killed to reduce the number of them. When kangaroos are gave birth to, they weigh less than 2 grams. The baby kangaroos climb out from their mothers’ belly and then into their mothers’ pouches. Inside the pouches, they grab the four teats and keep doing that for about nine months. It is so strange that the milk is fed to them automatically from their mothers’ bodies and the amount of milk changes according to their needs. After nine months staying in mothers’ pouches, they will begin to live outside for most time and come back only for milk time. And that often ends when they do not need milk. When a kangaroo still in mother’s pouch and its mother has another baby in her womb again, funny things happen. The smaller one will stop growing and keep waiting until its elder brother or sister begins to leave the pouch. Then it is born and begins to experience the same process with his brothers orsisters. If there is an elder one who still drinks milk but already outside the pouch, the new born one will share the milk from different teats of their mother. And the mother will give different kinds of milk to them because the old one needs to become strong to hop while the new one needs to develop. If conditions are bad, such as there is drought and not much food, the female kangaroos will wait for some time before giving birth to new babies. They do so to make sure that existing kangaroos can have enough food and the new babies can drink milk of good quality.Kangaroos have a few predators, including dingoes, foxes and feral dogs. The thylacine was once the chief enemy of kangaroos, but now they are said to have been extinct. To protect the weak members in the race, kangaroos choose to live in groups. Mobs mentioned before refer to a group of kangaroos, whose number can be over 50. If a weak kangaroo leave the group, it might be spotted quickly. There are different kinds of kangaroos, such as red kangaroos, grey kangaroos and tree kangaroos.Red kangaroos are the biggest of all the marsupial animals. A male one can have a length of about 1.5 metres and its tail can be 1 metre long while the weight of it can be 85 kilograms. Female red kangaroos are smaller in size. It is an odd thing that female ones are grey while male ones are red. They live in the center of Australia mainly, where the weather is hot and there is little rain. Grey kangaroos are along most of the eastern of Australia. They look almost as red as red kangaroos but are grayish brown. And there are Western Grey and Eastern Grey kangaroos. Tree kangaroos live in trees in tropical areas of Australia and Papua New Guinea. And there are different kinds of tree kangaroos. They use the floppy tails to keep balance when they hop from branch to branch. They are the only kind of kangaroos who can raise their front paws above their heads. And that can also do help to them when moving around in trees. In addition, they can even use the flexible front paws to hold food to their mouth.KoalasKoalas actually are not bears though people sometimes call them koala bears. They are also a kind of marsupial animals and just eat the leaves of eucalyptus trees. The lovely creature hardly ever drinks water. The word koala comes from an Australia Aboriginal word, which means no drink. Koalas are one of the most famous Australia animals. They can be found in four Australia states and they are Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.Koalas have a lovely appearance, which often attracts a lot of girls. There is often soft, thick, grey or brown fur on their backs while the fur around their stomach is usually white. Because the weather is colder in the south than it is in the north in Australia, koalas in the south part have thicker fur than those in the opposite areas. Koalas have large and hairless noses and round ears, but they do not have tails. Koalas cannot see very well and they mainly depend on their hearing and smell. Adult koalas are about 64 to 76 centimeters long and measure about 7 to 14 kilograms in weight. In addition, they also have strong and sharp claws and long toes, which can help them to climb up the trees. They use two thumbs in their front paws to grip branches firmly. The second and third toes on their backs are often together to function as a grooming claw. Interestingly, koalas hardly communicate. And if necessary, they just use a range of noises to tell others about their ideas. They can make a loud snore, a burping sound and a loud bellow. As mentioned before, koalas just feed on leaves and young shoots of some kinds of eucalyptus trees. Eucalyptus leaves are almost poisonous to other animals. In whole Australia, there are over 600 kinds of eucalyptus but koalas just eat about 20 kinds. In a particular area, thereare often three or fourth kinds of the eucalyptus that can be taken by koalas. Other kinds of eucalyptus are just used by them for sitting or sleeping occasionally. In different parts of Australia there are different kinds of eucalyptus. As a result, a koala in Victoria has a very different diet from another one in Queensland.Koalas stay in trees for almost all the time in their lives. They just hold on to the branches of trees firmly by using their claws, which are sharp and curved. And they climb around trees with their long toes. Koalas are a kind of animals belonging to the night. They go to eat food and jump from tree to tree mainly at night. In contrast, during daytime, they just sleep and rest. The reason is that they need a lot of energy to digest those tough eucalyptus leaves. And sleeping can save some energy. There is water in eucalyptus leaves, so the koalas do not need to look for water to drink. However in serious drought time, there is less water in leaves and then they need to seek for water. Each koala has a range of trees as its home that it often visits. And they mark their homes with their own smell. Usually they do not go to another one’s home unless they want a spouse to mate with.Breeding season for koalas is usually from August to February. During this period every year, the male ones come out and fight for female ones with bellowing sound. Also at this time, young koalas are leaving their mothers and becoming independent. Generally a female one only has a young child each year and may not have babies for some years. A tiny baby koala comes out about 35 days after mating. It is also called a joey just like kangaroos. It measures about 2 cm in length and less than 1 gram in weight. And it is often pink, hairless and blind and strangely has no ears. Surprisingly, the little guy takes a trip from its mother’s belly to the pouch. Upon into the mother’s pouch, it catches one teat of its mother firmly. The mother can also tighten muscles when opening the pouch, which restrained the baby from falling out.The mother carries her baby for about 6 or 7 months with her pouch after it has been given birth to. She gives milk to the baby during the time. When the little guy is 22 to 30 weeks old, the mother begin to feed the joey the pap, which is a special substance formed from pre-digested food and her droppings. That is an important process in koalas’lives because it can give them the ability to eat eucalyptus, which is poisonous to most mammals. After leaving the pouch, the baby still stays on its mother’s back and drinks milk till a year old. If when it becomes a year old and its mother does not have another young baby, it will still rely on the mother.Unfortunately, koalas are in a worrying condition. In the 1920s, koalas were almost extinct as a result of hunting. Nowadays people cut down eucalyptus trees, which destroyed koalas’ living places. A disease named Chlamydia is threatening koalas as it can make them blind and let the females unable to have children. Some weak koalas have been killed by the disease. What’s more, they still have predators to deal with. They are often hunted by dingoes, wild domestic dogs and foxes. And to baby koalas, goannas, wedge-tailed eagles, and large owls are also dangers.PlatypusesPlatypuses are really very odd creatures. They are mammals but they lay eggs. They are one of the three kinds of monotremes who are special among mammals in that they retain the ancestral characteristic of laying eggs. Platypuses have leathery bills like ducks and fur and tails likes beavers. Actually, they also look like ducks with webbed feet. They use the webbed feet for swimming and claws for digging. In addition to webbed feet, they also have a broad and plat tail. The tail is usually about 12 centimeters long and can help them swim more freely. When platypuses swim, they close their ears and eyes. They have two nostrils on top of their bills. It issaid that their eyes and ears are on either side of their heads. And they also have short hands and feet. Platypuses have three layers of thick brown fur in their bodies. They are so strange that at first English scientists thought they were a prank. The length of a platypus’s body can be up to 45 centimeters while the weight can be up to 2.3 kilograms. Usually, male ones can be larger than female ones. The fur of platypuses are ranging from medium brown to dark brown on the back side and brown to silver-gray on the belly side. And a male platypus also has a sharp and claw-like spur behind the ankles on its back leg. The spur is connected to a poison gland. The male can use it to protect itself when it comes with predators and fight for females during mating period. They often live near streams and lakes in eastern and south-eastern areas of Australia. They prefer places with steep banks that having roots, over hanging vegetation and woods. They haunt in areas from Queensland to Victoria. The lakes and streams are often less than 5 meters in depth. There are records of them living in aquatic habitats at altitudes of above 1000 meters. They often live alone, especially male ones. If two platypuses have the same living areas, they will change their time for eating to avoid meeting each other. The size of home area for them depends on the area they forage. A platypus foraging in the streams has a large home area than the other in the ponds. They eat worms and other small animals living in water. They often go out to eat before dawn and come back home before sunset. They mainly feed on small animals living in rivers, creeks and lakes. The leathery bill has a special function. It can help platypuses to feel for food because it has special nerves that can senses the movement of prey. They eat shrimp, worms, insect larvae and other kinds of small water animals. After they catch their preys, they put them in cheek pouches and then eat them in the bank. Platypuses do not have teeth, so when they eat, they just crush the food with tough pads on their upper and lower jaw. They reproduce by laying eggs as snakes do. The female ones lay eggs like reptiles and feed their children with the milk in their bodies. They dig long burrows in the bank and leave the entrance above the water, well hidden. Female platypuses build a home with damp grass and leaves after they dig the burrow. Then they begin to lay eggs. The damp grass can be beneficial to keep the temperature when the babies are born. She carries these plants from the water side using her tail. In June and October, they mate with male platypuses. After that, they put themselves totally in their homes. They put soil in the entrance to avoid interrupting. At first, they lay one or two eggs then they cover the eggs with tails until the eggs hatch. The young babies come out in around 10 days and stay with their mother for less than four months. The babies drink milk from their mothers’ fur, because a female platypus has no teats like other mammals do.The mating is a really interesting process. Male platypuses do most part in the process but a successful mating depends on the willingness of female ones. Mating is different because of the season and the population. Male and female ones touch when they pass each other. The male one grabs the tail of the female with his bill. If the female is unwilling to mate with him, she will try her best to swim away through the obstacles. However, if she is willing to mate, she will stay just near him and allow him to catch her tail. The male one then cover her body totally and let his tail under hers in one side. Then he continues to bite the hair on her shoulder using his bill. Many other details of the process are unknown for they have a kind of secretive and aquatic nature.Platypuses have many predators, such as foxes, dogs and snakes. Birds of prey, feral cats, and large eels are also enemies of them.BilbiesThey are a type of bandicoot with black tails and white tips. Once they can be found in seventy percent of continental Australia, including South Australia, Western Australia, the Northern Territory and New South Wales. A few can also be found in southern Queensland. Upon the introduction of many other animals, the places for bilbies become less then 20 to 30 percent of their previous areas. Now the bilby often stays in small and scattered places in the Tanami Desert in the northern area and the Great Sandy Desert, Pilbara and Kimberley areas of the west part of Australia, where the weather is hot and dry. They often have grayish fur and ears looking like rabbits. They are often about 400 mm long with a tail about 250 mm. The first part of the tail is the same bluish grey as the body with the remainder of it being black and the final 40% being pure white.Their fur is long and feels like silk. The underside part of their tummies and chests are white. The female ones have pouches which are rear-opening, and that will help they avoid the soil while digging. The ears are very long with a lot of fur. These big and pointed ears can help bilbies find food by good hearing. Bilbies also have good smelling. Their eyes are round, dark and big, but their eyesight is very poor. And they have strange noses which look like tapers. The tongues are long and stick, which makes them be able to catch termites. The toes are with curved claws. Their back feet have the second and the third toes joined and the fourth one much larger. They can hop and gallop with their strong legs. Usually male bilbies are twice larger than female ones.Bilbies are belonging to night on some degree because they usually act in the night when the temperate is not high. And they also like acting alone. They usually look for food and dig deep burrows using their strong front legs and claws. Bilbies like living in places where it is dry and hot, especially in deserts and grasslands. Three types of vegetation have influence on bilbies’ life. They are tussock grassland, mulga woodlands and hummlock grasslands. And greater bilbies are often found in rocky areas and clayey soil. As they live in hot and dry places, they get water from what they eat. They mainly eat insects and fruit. The reproduction for the animals is often throughout the year. Bilbies have a polygynous mating system. Only the best male one can marry the best female one and some other females, while the lower males can only marry females who are the same good or less good then themselves. Greater bilbies have the ability to breed throughout the year, whether breeding occurs depends on environmental conditions. In their arid environments, females may delay mating until conditions are appropriate to support the nutritional demands of lactation and independence of the young. When environmental conditions are favorable, a female bilby may produce up to 4 litters a year, each typically consisting of 1 to 2 offspring, though up to 4 offspring have been reported. Female greater bilbies reach sexual maturity at around 5 months old (or 560 g) while males take around 8 months (or at a weight of 800 g) to reach maturity. The female oestrus cycle lasts around 21 days. Greater bilbies have one of the shortest gestation periods of all mammals, only 14 days. After gestation, the tiny, premature offspring climbs into its mother's pouch, attaches itself to a nipple and remains in the pouch for around 75 days. The young are cared for by the mother for an additional 14 days. After that, the young will leave their mother's burrow and be left to fend for themselves. ("National Recovery Plan for the Greater Bilby Macrotis lagotis", 2006; Humble, 2006; Johnson and Johnson, 1983).Bilbies are regard as vulnerable in Australia and are possibly extinct in Queensland. The reason is that they need to compete for food with some other introduced animals. They are often the food of foxes. Nowadays attempts are paid to introduce the bilbies into areas where they oncethrived again. Reintroduction programs have begun in southern South Australia, southwestern Queensland, western New South Wales, and areas of Western Australia with some success due to the addition of predator-proof enclosures and intense monitoring of reintroduced populations. After I learn so much about these special animals, I become more interested in the beautiful country. In addition, these animals need good protection from people because they may be in dangerous condition. More natural reserves should be built up and more laws should be passed to protect them.References:Natural Library (the mammals) By Guo yubinGio Globe Trotter (Australia), published by Japan's Big Gem Press, 09-10.au/site/accounts/information/Macrotis_lagotis.html.。

Today I'm going to tell you all about the totally awesome animals that live in the Land Down Under - Australia!Get ready to learn about some of the coolest, craziest, and cutest creatures on the planet.Let's start with the animal that I reckon is the most famous Aussie animal of them all - the kangaroo! These huge hopping marsupials are found all over Australia. Male kangaroos are called bucks, females are does, and baby kangaroos are called joeys. Can you guess where joeys live before they are born? In their mom's pouch! How ripper is that?Kangaroos use their muscular tails and powerful back legs to hop around at crazy speeds. The red kangaroo is one of the largest marsupials and can reach heights of over 6 feet tall! They can hop along at over 35 mph for short bursts and cover 25 feet in a single leap. Now that's one bouncy boy!Another iconic Aussie animal is the koala. Despite their teddy bear looks, koalas are not bears at all - they are marsupials! These cuddly tree-dwellers spend most of their time snoozing in eucalyptus trees and munching on eucalyptus leaves. A koala can sleep up to 20 hours a day because eucalyptus leaves provide very little energy. No wonder they always look so dozey!Koalas aren't the only ones who love chilling in trees Down Under. Australia is home to some amazing arboreal creatures like the sugar glider. These tiny possum relatives can glide up to 150feet through the air thanks to special furry membranes that stretch from their front to back legs. How awesome is that? Sugar gliders are only about 6 inches long but are mega cute with their big eyes and fluffy tails.Ready for some more awesome Aussie wildlife? Let me tell you about the hilarious egg-laying mammals called echidnas or spiny anteaters. These hedgehog-like creatures have a snout for a nose perfect for slurping up ants and termites. Their backs are covered with hollow spikes made of keratin - the same stuff our fingernails are made of! When threatened, echidnas can roll into a prickly ball to deter predators. Crikey, I wouldn't want to mess with one of them! You know what's even crazier than egg-laying mammals? Venomous mammals! That's right, the platypus is one of the only venomous mammals in the world. This bizarre semi-aquatic critter has a duck-like bill, otter feet, and a flat tail perfect for swimming. Male platypuses have a venomous spur on their back heels that can cause severe pain to anything it stings. I'll be sure to give them a wide berth when I go swimming!Of course, no list of Aussie animals would be complete without mentioning the deadliest snake in the world - the inland taipan. One bite from this super venomous serpent containsenough neurotoxin to kill 100 grown men! Luckily, these snakes are quite shy and there has never been a recorded human fatality from their bite. Still, I'll stick to admiring them from a safe distance, thanks! While Australia is famous for its unusual and dangerous wildlife, it's also home to some seriously cute and cuddly critters. Take the wombat for example. These stout, barrel-shaped marsupials look like little bulldozers covered in coarse fur. Despite their gruff exterior, wombats make incredibly gentle and loving pets if you can get your hands on one. They are very affectionate but also hilariously stubborn - a bit like a toddler!Another adorable Aussie animal is the quokka - a small wallaby with the biggest, cheesiest grin you've ever seen. Quokkas are known as the "happiest animals on Earth" and it's easy to see why when you spot their cute smiles. They live on small islands off the coast of Western Australia and absolutely love having their photo taken with tourists. What a bunch of little posers! So there you have it - just a taste of the incredible animals that call Australia home. From bouncing boxing kangaroos to venomous platypuses, this wild continent has it all when it comes to awesome animals. I hope you've enjoyed learning about theseripper Aussie creatures as much as I have. I'll leave you with the wise words of the great Crocodile Dundee - "No worries, mate!"篇3The Amazing Animals of AustraliaBy: A 6th Grade StudentAustralia is a really cool country that is super far away from where I live. It's actually a whole continent and island! Australia has some of the neatest and weirdest animals that you can't find anywhere else in the world. Let me tell you about some of my favorite Aussie animals. One of the most famous Australian animals is definitely the kangaroo. Kangaroos are huge hopping marsupial mammals. That means the baby kangaroo, called a joey, grows inside a pouch on the mom's belly instead of inside her like humans! Can you imagine carrying your little baby brother or sister in a pouch? That would be so strange!Kangaroos use their big strong tails to balance when they hop around on their two back legs. Their front legs are small and they use them kind of like arms to grab things. The really big male kangaroos are called bucks, and they can be over 6 feet tall!I definitely wouldn't want to mess with those big muscular guys. But the smaller kangaroos look cute and cuddly.Another famous Aussie animal is the koala bear. But get this - it's not actually a bear at all! Koalas are marsupials too, just like kangaroos. Their babies are called joeys as well and they carry them in a pouch. Koalas are pretty small, about 2-3 feet tall, and they have round fuzzy ears and a stubby little nose.Koalas are super lazy and sleepy because their diet is mainly eucalyptus leaves which don't have a lot of nutrients. They sleep up to 20 hours a day just resting in eucalyptus trees and munching on leaves. I don't know about you, but sleeping for 20 hours sounds like my kind of life! Just kidding, I probably couldn't handle being that lazy. Now let's talk about some really crazy and unique Australian critters - the platypus and the echidna. These weird animals are actually egg-laying mammals, which is very unusual. Most mammals give live birth to babies, but platypuses and echidnas actually lay leathery eggs, kind of like reptiles! The platypus has a duck's bill, a beaver's tail, otter's feet, and a male platypus even has venomous spurs on its hind legs. How crazy is that?? The platypus lives in rivers and freshwater areas ineastern Australia. It's such a freaky looking animal, like someone combined a bunch of different animals into one weird creature! The echidna is sometimes called a spiny anteater because it has a long snout and sticky tongue to catch ants and termites. But it's covered with spines like a hedgehog or porcupine. It's really an egg-laying mammal though, not actually an anteater. Echidnas are pretty chill and harmless unless you really bother them, then they'll try to stick you with their spines!I think Australia has some of the weirdest, most awesome animals on the planet. Where else can you find kangaroos hopping around, koalas snoozing in trees, duck-billed platypuses swimming in rivers, and spiny echidnas hunting for ants? Australia is like a real-life fantasy world when it comes to its animal life.I would love to visit Australia someday and see the kangaroos, koalas, platypuses, and echidnas in their natural habitats. But I might stay far away from the big muscular kangaroo bucks and anangy mother echidnas protecting their babies! An Australian animal adventure sounds like an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime trip. Maybe I'll be a zoologist and travel to Australia to study these incredible creatures when I grow up. A kid can dream, right?篇4Animals of AustraliaWow, Australia is such an amazing country with some of the coolest and most unique animals in the whole world! As a kid who loves animals, I can't wait to tell you all about the awesome critters that live down under.Let's start with one of the most iconic animals - the kangaroo! These guys are basically huge rabbits that can hop around on their big back legs and tail. The really big males are called "boomers" and they can be over 6 feet tall! Kangaroos are marsupials, which means the baby kangaroo (called a joey) develops inside a pouch on the mom's belly. How crazy is that?Speaking of marsupials, Australia has lots of other cool pouched mammals too. Like the koala - these little guys spend pretty much all day sleeping and eating eucalyptus leaves up in the trees. They're super cuddly and fuzzy. Then there are wombats, which kind of look like little bears. They have really thick fur to protect them when digging underground burrows. But my favorite has to be the platypus! This weirdduck-billed, beaver-tailed, otter-footed mammal lays eggs...how does that even make sense? But it's true! The platypus isdefinitely one of the strangest animals around. Oh and get this - the male platypus has venomous heel spurs that can actually hurt humans and other predators. Crazy stuff!Australia is home to all sorts of bizarre reptiles too. Like the frilled-neck lizard that puffs out this crazy ruff of skin around its neck to scare predators. And the thorny devil, which is a lizard covered in spikes that can actually collect water from the air using channels between its spines. So cool! Then there are snakes...Australia has more venomous snake species than any other country. The inland taipan is considered the most venomous snake in the world - its venom is toxic enough to kill around 250,000 mice with a single bite! But don't worry, they're pretty shy and there are anti-venom medicines if someone does get bitten. Now for the spiders - I have to admit Australian spiders totally freak me out. They have some of the biggest AND most venomous spiders around like the Sydney funnel-web spider. But the one that scares me most is the huntsman spider. These massive spiders can be bigger than a dinner plate and they're known for just wandering into people's homes. No thanks! You know what other terrifying creature Australia has? Saltwater crocodiles! These enormous reptiles can grow over 20feet long and weigh a ton. Their powerful jaws are full of razor sharp teeth for tearing prey apart. They're basically modern day dinosaurs stalking the waters of the northern territories. I'll be staying far away if I ever see one!But Australia has some pretty awesome ocean creatures as well. Like the huge great white sharks that cruise the coastlines looking for seals and fish. Or the bright and colorful reef fish and other marine life that live among the Great Barrier Reef. Oh and let's not forget the majestic humpback whales that migrate up the eastern coast each year. There are so many other unique birds, fish, insects and more down under. Like the laughing kookaburra bird, the adorable quokka (kind of like a tiny kangaroo), and the massive saltwater crocodile! Australia is pretty much an animal lover's paradise. Some of the animals can be a little scary and dangerous. But most are just harmless and unlike anything you'd see anywhere else in the world. Australia's incredible wildlife is definitely a huge part of what makes the island continent so special. If you ever get a chance to see these amazing animals in person, you've got to take it! The critters down under are just waiting to be discovered.篇5Australian Animals Are So Cool!Australia is a really big island down under near Antarctica. It's got tons of crazy cool animals that you can't find anywhere else in the world! When my family went on vacation there last summer, I got to see all kinds of awesome Aussie creatures in the wild. Let me tell you about some of the most amazing ones.Kangaroos are probably the most famous Australian animal. These huge hopping marsupials look kind of like a deer mixed with a rabbit or a mouse. The really big males are called bucks and they can be over 6 feet tall! Kangaroos use their powerful back legs to jump crazy high and far. We saw heaps of them just chilling out and grazing on grasses at parks and reserves. One even let me pat its soft fur! Kangaroos have pouches on their bellies where their joeys (baby kangaroos) grow until they're big enough to hop around on their own. How cool is that?Another iconic Aussie animal is the koala bear. Despite its name, the koala isn't actually a bear at all - it's a marsupial like kangaroos! Koalas are kind of like living teddy bears. They're super cute and fluffy, with round ears and a smushy gray fur coat. Koalas spend almost all their time sleeping and eatingeucalyptus leaves in trees. We got to visit a koala sanctuary and one of the Rangers let me hold a baby koala - it was the most adorable thing ever! Koalas make the funniest snoring sounds when they're napping. I could have watched those sleepy guys all day.Now I'll tell you about some of the crazy dangerous animals in Australia. At first they kind of freaked me out, but they're actually really amazing too. The saltwater crocodile is a MASSIVE reptile that lives in the tropical north. Some of them grow over 20 feet long and weigh a ton! Their powerful jaws can crunch through almost anything. We took a boat tour through crocodile territory and I saw lots of them sunning themselves on the banks. They looked like living dinosaurs! Our guide said you definitely don't want to go swimming where the salties live. Then there are all the super venomous snakes like the inland taipan, eastern diamondback, and fierce snake. These slithery serpents have some of the deadliest venom in the world. The fierce snake is apparently the longest venomous snake on the planet! We didn't see any in the wild thankfully, but at one zoo we watched a handler showing off some non-venomous pythons.I wasn't brave enough to hold them myself though. I don't mind snakes on TV but they make me pretty nervous up close!Another crazy deadly creature in Australia is the box jellyfish. These jellyfish are known as one of the most venomous animals in the world. Their tentacles have stinging venom so agonizingly painful, it can actually sent you into shock or stop your heart. We stuck to swimming in safe areas with plenty of jellyfish nets, but I still saw some washed up on the beach. They looked like slimy alien blobs from another planet! No matter how tempting, you definitely don't want to touch a box jelly. While Australia has heaps of dangerous and venomous animals, it also has some of the weirdest looking but harmless critters too. The platypus might just be the strangest animal I've ever seen. It's this crazy mixup of different animals - it has a duck's bill, fur like an otter, a beaver's tail, and webbed feet. Platypuses are one of the few mammals that lay eggs too! We didn't manage to spot any wild platypuses on our vacation, but I saw them at the zoo and aquariums. They just look so bizarre and unreal.Another totally bizarre Aussie animal is the echidna, or spiny anteater. It's basically a mammal that's also kind of like a porcupine with a beak! Echidnas use their long sticky tongues to slurp up ants and termites. When threatened, they can roll up into a poky ball of spines to protect themselves. We happened tosee several echidnas out waddling around and snuffling through the undergrowth. I thought they looked like weird little Pokémon creatures come to life! There are so many other funky animals I could tell you about, like wombats, Tasmanian devils, kookaburras, and all the different kangaroo species. But I've probably already gone on too long! Australia is like a real-life museum of super cool, bizarre, and sometimes scary creatures. If you ever get a chance to travel there, you've got to go see them for yourself. As for me, I can't wait to go back Down Under again someday and keep exploring the amazing Aussie animal kingdom!篇6The Amazing Animals of Australia!Hey there! Today I want to tell you all about the super cool animals that live in Australia. As you probably know, Australia is an island continent way down in the southern hemisphere. It's got lots of crazy critters that you can't find anywhere else on Earth!First up, let's talk about that iconic Aussie animal - the kangaroo! These guys are probably the animal that people think of first when they picture Australia. Kangaroos are amazingmarsupial mammals, which means the mom kangaroos have a pouch on their belly to carry their jellybean-sized babies in. How wild is that?Kangaroos come in different sizes, from the reddish-brown Red Kangaroo that can be over 6 feet tall, to the much smaller Wallabies. They use their big muscular tails to prop themselves up, and their powerful back legs to hop around at pretty fast speeds. Some kangaroos can cruise at over 35 mph for short bursts! They've also got tiny little arms that look pretty goofy. When male kangaroos fight over mates, they'll square off and kick-box with those big hind legs. It's like an all-out brawl and it looks crazy! But don't worry, they're just playing around and don't actually want to hurt each other too bad.Another iconic Aussie animal is the koala bear. Despite the name, these guys aren't actually bears at all - they're marsupial mammals too. Koalas are pretty chill dudes that mostly just chill in eucalyptus trees munching on the leaves all day long. Their brains are super small, but I guess they don't need much brainpower to eat and sleep 20 hours a day!Koalas make the most hilarious sounds too. It's like a really weird snore or growl coming from deep in their chests. I saw videos of them bellowing at each other and it sounds so silly.Koalas are fluffballs of fur with those big fuzzy ears that can rotate toward sounds. Their kids are called "joeys" like kangaroos and they're just the cutest little puffballs you've ever seen! Now let's move on to some of the crazier and maybe creepier Australian critters. Did you know Australia has more venomous snake species than any other country? Over 100 of them are capable of delivering a venomous bite! The scariest has to be the inland taipan - it has enough neurotoxin venom in one bite to kill around 100 grown men. No thanks! I'll pass on getting up close with that one.Australia is also home to some monster-sized spiders that look straight out of a horror movie. The Huntsman spider can have a leg-span bigger than a grown man's hand! Then there's the Sydney Funnel-Web spider which is one of the most deadly on the planet. Their bite can cause paralysis and death in humans unless anti-venom is given quickly. I'll be honest, those things totally freak me out.Believe it or not, Australia has more scary and dangerous beasties than just snakes and spiders. There are several species of super aggressive lizards like the Perentie monitor lizard that can grow over 8 feet long! Saltwater crocodiles in the north canreach over 20 feet and weigh a ton. Those guys will definitely take a chunk out of you if they get the chance! But it's not all life-threatening monsters down under. Australia has some really cute and unique critters like the platypus, which has to be one of the weirdest animals around. Platypuses (platypi?) are semi-aquatic mammals that are actually venomous. The males have venom spurs on their hind legs that can cause intense pain if you get spiked. No wonder they look so grumpy with that duckbill! Some other totally Aussie oddballs include wombats (imagine a furry brick), echidnas (spiny ant-eaters), Tasmanian devils (no, not like the Looney Tunes character!), and quokkas (happiest little dudes ever). There are just too many bizarre and fascinating Aussie animals to cover them all! From the adorable koala to the terrifying inland taipan, Australia for sure takes the cake when it comes to crazy cool creatures found nowhere else. If you ever get a chance to see these amazing animals up close on a trip down under, you'll definitely be wowed! But maybe stay away from those spiders and snakes...no thanks! I'm happy just seeing them on a screen for now. What an amazing island of unusual animals Australia is!。

英语交际口语1000句:澳大利亚的动物
Todd: So, Aaron, in America we have this image of Australia being very rugged and all these dangerous animals. So is that true?
托德:亚伦,我们美国对澳大利亚的印象是,澳大利亚崎岖不平,而且有很多危险的动物。
这是真的吗?
Aaron: It's not so true, but it's not so wrong. The
three main animals that are dangerous in Australia, one is
the crocodile, two are snakes, and three are spiders. We have some deadly spiders in Australia and some deadly snakes, but the crocodiles aren't as dangerous, as you think.
Todd: Really.
托德:真的吗。
Aaron: Unless you go swimming in crocodile water, you never see them and they're only in small parts of the north. They're not in the cities and the same with the spiders and
the snakes. You never seen one. I've never seen one, and I
don't think I ever will unless I go looking for it.
Todd: Oh, that's interesting.
托德:哦,这很有趣。
Aaron: If you see one, you shouldn't play with it. It's not toy.
亚伦:如果你看见的话,你不应该和它玩耍。
它可不是玩具。
Todd: Yeah! What about the sharks?
托德:没错!那鲨鱼呢?
Aaron: Sharks! Again, I've never seen one, but they do attack people, and they are a little bit dangerous, but it's more dangerous to cross the road, than to go swimming.
亚伦:鲨鱼!再说一次,我从来没见过鲨鱼,不过它们确实会袭
击人类,它们有一定的危险性,不过相比来说,过马路要比游泳危险。
