Participating in the English Reading Reflection Competition was truly an enriching experience for me. It not only allowed me to delve into the world of literature but also provided me with a platform to express my thoughts and emotions about the books I read. Throughout the competition, I had the opportunity to explore various genres, styles, and themes, which broadened my understanding of the English language and literature as a whole. One of the books that left a lasting impression on me was "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. This classic novel not only captivated me with its powerful storytelling but also touched upon important themes such as racism, justice, and morality. Through the eyes of the young protagonist, Scout Finch, I was able to witness the harsh realities of the world and the unwavering courage of those who stood up for what is right. The character of Atticus Finch, a lawyer who defends an innocent black man in aracially charged trial, taught me the importance ofintegrity and compassion in the face of adversity.Another book that resonated with me was "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald. This novel painted a vivid picture of the Roaring Twenties and the pursuit of the American Dream. The tragic love story of Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan highlighted the emptiness of material wealth and the fleeting nature of happiness. It made me reflect on the consequences of obsession and the consequences ofliving a life based on illusions and false promises. As I continued to read and reflect on various works of literature, I realized the power of storytelling in shaping our understanding of the world. Each book I read offered a unique perspective on life, love, and human nature, challenging me to think critically and empathize with characters from different walks of life. Through the competition, I learned to appreciate the beauty of language and the art of writing, as well as the importance ofsharing our thoughts and experiences with others. In conclusion, the English Reading Reflection Competition has been a rewarding journey for me. It has allowed me to explore the depths of literature, expand my knowledge of the English language, and connect with fellow book lovers. As I look back on the books I have read andthe reflections I have written, I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in such a meaningful andthought-provoking competition. I am excited to continue my literary journey and discover new stories that will inspire, challenge, and move me in the years to come. Thank you for this incredible experience.。

A Review of “A Tale of Two Cities”“A Tale of Two Cities”, one of Dickens’ works, is a well-known long story. And it has a great influence on the society at that time. When I saw the title at first, I thought it might tell something about the developing process of two cities, which might be no fun. However, after reading it , I found I had been wrong. It portrays a brutal, bloody and revengeful society as well as love and friendship. It happened before and after the Revolution in France. The ruthless and cruel landowners and noblemen exploited the miserable people who owned nothing, but these poor people worked for others day and night. Noblemen had the power that one word would doubtlessly send others to prison. As time passed by, the noise of the coming-up revolution storm in Paris was growing louder and louder. At last, it was on the fourteeth of July, 1789 that the revolution borke out. “The Bastille and its officers were in the hands of people, and the people wanted revenge and blood.” The true Freedom of France came. “The G uillotine, the new machine of death, cut off the heads of many, many people—not only the powerful and the cruel, but also the beautiful, the innocent, and the good.” Among the good, there was a man called Darney. Even though his father, wife and friends knew he was innocent, the people thought he was the enemy and would go to the Guillotine. In spite of a shadow of fear and hate here and there, we can also see the great and kind persons. I think the greatest person is Mr Manette who had been a prisoner in the Bastille for eighteen years. What he suffered was difficult to imagine, but he was still kind and loved his daughter. He did his best to save his son-in-law, whose father and uncle were the men that had ever sent him to prison. Another great man is the lawyer, Sydney Carton, a friend of Darney. Before Darney went to Guillotine, Mr Carton changed places with him and he said, “It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever know.” B esides, the story is full of love, including the love between father and daughter, the love between husband and wife, the love among friends and so on. In short, only if you have love in your heart, the life is meaningful. At the same time, the revenge will run away with you, freedomand happiness will be around you. There is no doubt that Charles Dickens is one of the greatest writers in English. From this book, I see some true lives and moving stories from the old ages. I reckon you must feel the same as me that we don’t want to live in that condition. To be frank, we all look forward to living in a peaceful and love situation. Though the present life has improved a lot, there are still wars in some places. All that we need is to solve the problems in pe aceful ways instead of by force. So let’s work hard together in order to make our life much more meaningful and happier, make our society more harmonious.2.2008年全国英文读后感大赛我市获奖情况通报及部分获奖作品。

Embracing Change: A Journey ofGrowth and DiscoveryIn the dynamic and ever-changing world of 2021, thecity of Quzhou witnessed a remarkable exam that tested the English proficiency of its junior high school students. The essay topic, "Change," invited students to reflect on their personal growth and the impact of change on their lives. As I pensively consider this theme, I am reminded of my own journey of growth and discovery, a journey that has been shaped by the forces of change.Change, whether it be the gradual evolution of our surroundings or the sudden upheaval of our lives, is a constant and inevitable force. It is both the engine of progress and the catalyst for growth. Embracing change, rather than resisting it, has been a critical lesson in my life. It has taught me to adapt, to innovate, and to find new opportunities in the face of uncertainty.Looking back, I remember the excitement and nervousness I felt when I first entered junior high school. It was a new environment, with new teachers, new classmates, and a new curriculum. This change was both daunting and exciting.I had to adapt to a new routine, learn new subjects, and make new friends. Initially, it was challenging, but I quickly realized that this change was an opportunity for growth. As I settled into my new school life, I began to notice other changes taking place around me. My classmates were growing and developing in their own unique ways. We supported and learned from each other, growing stronger together. The teachers, with their wealth of knowledge and experience, guided us through the challenges of adolescence, helping us to develop critical thinking skills and a lovefor learning. Not only was I growing as an individual, but I was also witnessing changes in my community. Quzhou, my hometown, was evolving and thriving. New businesses were opening, old buildings were being renovated, and the cityscape was constantly shifting. These changes reflected the dynamism and vitality of our city, and I was proud to be a part of it.As I looked ahead, I saw even more changes on the horizon. The future was filled with opportunities andchallenges, and I was eager to embrace them. I knew that change would continue to shape my life, and I was ready to face it head-on.Embracing change has been a transformative experience for me. It has taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of continuous growth and development. Change, rather than being something to fear, has become a source of inspiration and motivation. It has reminded me that life is a journey of discovery, and that every change, whether big or small, is an opportunity to learn, to grow, and to become a better version of myself. As I conclude my reflection, I want to emphasize the importance of embracing change. Change, after all, is not just a part of life; it is life itself. It is the engine of progress, the catalyst for growth, and the driving force behind all of our achievements and successes. By embracing change, we open ourselves to new opportunities, new experiences, and new ways of thinking. We become more resilient, more adaptable, and more capable of achieving our dreams. In conclusion, change is not something to be feared or resisted. It is something to be embraced and celebrated. As we continue on our journey of growth and discovery, let us remember to be open to change, to seize opportunities, andto continuously strive for betterment. After all, it is through change that we truly grow and transform, becoming the best versions of ourselves.**拥抱变化:成长与发现的旅程**在2021年这个充满活力和不断变化的世界里,衢州这座城市见证了一场考验其初中学生英语水平的考试。
Katy

As an avid reader and burgeoning writer, I am thrilledto participate in this read-a-thon competition and share my thoughts and reflections on the transformative power of reading.Throughout my life, words have been my constant companions. They have opened doors to countless worlds, ignited my imagination, and expanded my horizons. From the pages of classic novels to the latest scientific discoveries, I have immersed myself in a vast tapestry of ideas and experiences.Reading has not only enhanced my knowledge but also fostered my understanding of myself and the world around me. It has taught me the importance of empathy, compassion, and critical thinking. It has sparked a thirst for lifelong learning and a deep appreciation for the written word. One book that profoundly impacted me was "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald. This masterpiece of American literature painted a vivid portrait of the Roaring Twenties and the pursuit of the elusive American Dream. As I delved into the characters' struggles and aspirations, I was reminded of the complexities of human nature and the timeless search for meaning in life.Another transformative read was "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams. This witty and thought-provoking science fiction classic introduced me to the vastness of the universe and the absurdity of existence. It taught me the importance of questioning the status quo and embracing a sense of wonder and exploration.Reading has not only shaped my intellectual development but also enriched my personal life. It has provided me with solace during difficult times, inspired me to pursue my dreams, and connected me with like-minded individuals. Through book clubs, online forums, and literary events, I have found a community of fellow readers who share mypassion for the written word.As a student, I believe that this read-a-thon competition is an exceptional opportunity to foster a love of reading among my peers. It will encourage students to explore different genres, discover new authors, and engage in meaningful discussions about the books they read. I am confident that this competition will ignite a lifelong passion for literature and cultivate a generation of informed, compassionate, and imaginative thinkers.
