SWOT Analysis Lenovo
一) 市场优势(Strengths)
1、市场份额
据IDC数据,联想在亚太PC市场(不包括日本)的优势突出,第三季度占据了21.3%的市场份额,比上一季度增长0.5个百分点。另外,联想在本土中国市场的优势更加突出,不论是笔记本市场还是台式机市场,联想均是PC市场份额排名第一的厂商。
Strengths.
- Market share
Lenovo has a prominent advantage in Asia-Pacific PC market (not including Japan).It has a market share of 21.3 % in the 3rd quarter, which is 0.5% increased than last quarter, according to the IDC. In addition, Lenovo is more prominent in China's market and ranks first in the laptop market as well as the desktop market.

As the leader in PC field, Lenovo’s leadership outdistan ces its competitors. Since Lenovo has taken over the IBM PC, its advantage in Dual Brand Strategy reveals little by littler. Lenovo and ThinkPad are playing leading roles in consumer market and business market. In other words, due to Lenovo and ThinkPad, Lenovo laptop owns a strong brand portfolio in China's PC market and has taken a thorough coverage of both consumer and business market
3.区域市场优势
在中国4、5级市场,联想的品牌知名度远远超过戴尔和惠普,这与消费者的认知水平、消费理念有关,他们更依赖于本土化的品牌,尤其是近年来联想通过一系列的奥运营销大大提高了品牌影响力。

In the 4 or 5 level markets of China, Lenovo exceeds Dell and Hp in brand familiarity for the reason of Cognitive Proficiency and consumptive concept of the consumers who still rely on local brand. Lenovo has a great improvement in the brand influence by carrying out a series of Olympic marketing projects especially in recent years,

联想在中国本土有十年的经验,对本土消费者需求能准确把握,这是其他品牌所不具有的优势力量。另外,由于国内品牌企业在渠道架构、成本控制力等方面具有优势,能够根据市场发展迅速调整方向和策略,第一时间将自己产品的消费价值传递给消费者,从而赢得时间差优势。

Lenovo, with 10 years experience of marketing in China, is very clear about the needs of local consumers and it is the advantage that other brands do not have. Besides, domestic enterprises have several advantages in Channel Architecture and cost control, and they are able to adjust their directions and strategies to the market development and pass the consumptive value of their products to the consumers quickly .This can win them the time difference advantages.
(二) 竞争劣势(Weakness)
1、全球PC市场所占份额较少
众所周知,联想国际化要想彻底的成功,应该在中国以外的PC市场,例如美洲市场、欧洲市场取得比较稳定的市场份额和营运率的增长。但从联想最近的三个季度财报来看,联想在重要的美洲、欧洲的表现很不稳定。
市场份额是产品竞争力的综合体现。从全球PC市场份额来看,联想排在第三位,与惠普相差较远。而在美国市场上,联想与戴尔更是差距较大。联想要想赶超惠普、戴尔,绝非轻而易举的事。
Weaknesses.
- the Small Share of the Worldwide PC Market
As we all know, only a relatively stable market share and the growth of the operating rate out of China’s PC market, such as in the America n market and European market can give a complete success to an international Lenovo. However, the performance of Lenovo in America and Europe is very unstable, according to the recent three quarters of Lenovo’s financial report.
The share market is the comprehensive embodiment of the product competitiveness. Lenovo ranks 3rd in the Worldwide PC Market share, which is much less than Hp. And th e gap between Lenovo and Dell is much bigger in the American market. It’s not easy for Lenovo to overtake Hp and Dell.
2、15.4英寸产品线较为单薄
联想将14.1英寸产品作为主力机型,这完全与市场的发展方向相一致,也在一定程度上大大增强了其市场竞争力。但联想在其他产品的布局上存在一定的缺陷,特别是15.4英寸产品,联想该产品线显得较为单薄。

Taking the 14.1 inches products as the main models is in conformity with the development of the market, and also greatly enhances the market competitiveness of Lenovo. However, there are some certain defects in other product layout of Lenovo, especially the weakness of the 15.4 inches products.
(三) 市场机会(Opportunity)
1、奥运战略是联想国际化最好的机会
联想近年来借由体育进行营销的案例很多:包括签约2005年世界足球先生罗纳尔迪尼奥、携手NBA,成为NBA官方市场合作伙伴和唯一的PC合作伙伴、赞助F1威廉姆斯车队等等。
