Xichang sites inaugurated in 1984 It is used for launches into geostationary orbit (above the equator),primarily communications satellites.
Taiyuan site opened in 1988 It is used for launches into polar orbits (that circle the Earth’s poles), primarily weather and other Earth observation satellites.
Wengchang site It is building from September 14, 2009. It will become the PRC's fourth satellite launch center. This center will be used to launch heavyduty series of CZ(Long March) V rocket.

It is scheduled to be launched in 2011, with aims to carry out the rendezvous and docking test so as to master the technology, and to accumulate experiences in the constructing, managing and operating of a space station.
Within 2 years after the Tiangong-1 spacecraft is launched, China will successively launch the Shenzhou IX and Shenzhou X spaceships for completing the space rendezvous and docking with the Tiangong-1 spacecraft respectively.
