The findings suggest that just as apparent personality can affect the personality of a child, the same is true for a cat and its owner. Owners defined as individuals with high levels of anxiety, fear, anger, depression and loneliness were more likely to have cats with behavioral issues. Such cats display more aggressive and anxious behavioral styles as well as more stress related sickness. They will also more likely to have an ongoing medical condition and be overweight. The research also found that mentallywell-adjusted owners had come from happier and healthier cats. Researchers explained that many owners regard their pets as a family member and form close social bonds with them. (17) The majority of owners want to provide the best care for their pets and is therefore possible that pets could be affected by the way their owners interact with and manage them. The study highlights an important relationship between our personalities and the well-being of our pets. (18) Further research is needed to investigate the cause of nature of this relationship and look at how owners’personalities are directly influencing their pet’s behavior and well-being. It is possible that the well-being of pets is driven by the underlying nature of the owner not simply by their conscious decisions and behaviors.16. What do we learn from the new study by the University of Lincoln?17. What does the passage say most pet owners want to do?18. What does the passage say it’s still needed to understand the effects of owners’personalities on their pets?Passage Two(19) One 50-minute run can add seven hours to your life. This was a claim made by The Times last week. The claim was based on a new review of studies about the effects of running. The review concluded that an averagerunners live three years longer than non-runners and that running does more to extend life than any other form of exercise. But there’s more to running than its health benefits. (20) Research published in recent years have shown that running changes your brain and mind in some fascinating ways from increasing your brain function to regulating youremotions. However, the precise effects vary according to whether you engage in short fast running or long distance running. For example, in one study, researchers compared participants’ability to learn new words after several minutes of intense running, and after 40 minutes of gentle running, participants were able to learn 20 percent faster after the intense running and they showed a superior memory when tested again a week later. In another study, researchers asked volunteers to jog for 30 minutes and then showed them clips from a sad movie. Participants who usually struggled to handle negative emotions were more intensely affected by the sad clips just as you’d expect. But crucially, this was less so if they had completed the 30 minutes jog. (21) The researchers said moderate exercise appears to have helped those participants to be less vulnerable to the impact of the sad movie.19. What did the new review of studies claim?20. What is one effect that running has on people according to recent research?21. What did another study find about the participant after they had a 30 minutes jog?Passage ThreeWelcome to the tour of the Hill House. This house built in 1904 is one of the most well-known works of Charles Hill, the famous architect. It was designed and built for local entrepreneur and his family. Before starting the tour, let me give you a brief introduction about the design of this amazing building. (23) Prior to beginning his design, the architect spends sometime in the client’s old home, observing their life and studying their habits. This meant that he could design the house according to the needs of the family. (24) The client’s main desire was to have a home with unique design, so the architect was given complete freedom. The building style is radically different from what was the fashion of the period. At the time, most large homes were constructed of timber and brick. This one, however, is made of concrete, a novel construction material in those days. The interior of the house, including the fittings and furniture, was also designed by the same person. Most of the furniture you will see is original and in good condition. However, (25) both pieces in the children’s bedrooms are copies built to thedesigns of the architect. Fortunately, all the blueprints for both the building and its contents have been preserved, so we’ve been able to replace badly damaged furniture. Let’s begin our tour, starting from the rooms.22.

What does the man imply? What does the woman’s answer suggest? What does the woman say about..(共出现32次)2. 问”从对话中能获得什么信息或结论”What can we learn/know about the man? What do we know from the woman’s r eply? What can be inferred about…(共出现37次)3. 问”做什么”What does the man promise to do? (共出现14次)4. 问”对某人或某事有什么看法’How does the man feel about… (出现4次)小结:在短对话部分,考查最多的是WHAT类的提问,其中细节的考查相对较少,推断型的相对较多一些.二:常见考题类型1原因与结果题特征:1.至少有一个选项暗示出该事实能导致某种结果,通常有好几个选项的事实能导致同一结果2.选项中可能出现can’t, not be able to, too….to, have to等词或词组.3.文章承上启下的作用的信息句a.表示文章顺序与层次的句子,一般由first, second, in the end, in addition, furthermore, finally引导.b.表示意思转折的句子,一般由but, however, on the contrary, instead, unfortunately, however, yet, although, nevertheless等词引导c.表示因果关系的句子,一般由because, since, for, thus, as a result等引导2. What does the speaker most concerned about? Sounds great, Sounds a lot of fun, but…..3.尾词对于解题起着很大的干扰作用,答题时应多加小心听力的提问方式的常见4种类型1.主题思想题例如:what is the best title for this passage?方法:听好短文的开头和文中反复出现的同一词汇或同一类词汇,因为包含这类词汇的选项能较好的体现中心思想,其通常为正确答案。
46级英语范文好词好句摘抄
46级英语范文好词好句摘抄The English language is a rich and diverse means of communication, offering a vast array of words and expressions that can be used to convey a wide range of ideas and emotions. As a student in the 46th grade, I have had the opportunity to explore the nuances of the English language and have compiled a collection of noteworthy words and phrases that I find particularly compelling. One word that has captivated my attention is "serendipity." This term, derived from the Persian fairy tale "The Three Princes of Serendip," describes the happy accident of making an unexpected and fortunate discovery. I find this word to be both whimsical and profound, as it encapsulates the idea that sometimes the most meaningful experiences in life arise from chance encounters or unplanned events.Another word that I find intriguing is "melancholic." This adjective, which describes a pensive or pensive state of mind, evokes a sense of wistful contemplation. I am drawn to the way in which this word suggests a depth of emotion and a willingness to engage with themore complex and bittersweet aspects of the human experience. One phrase that has resonated with me is "carpe diem," which translates from Latin to "seize the day." This exhortation to live in the present moment and make the most of each day serves as a powerful reminder to approach life with a sense of urgency and purpose. I find this phrase to be particularly inspiring, as it encourages us to embrace the fleeting nature of time and to make the most of the opportunities that present themselves.Another phrase that I find compelling is "the road less traveled." This metaphorical expression, popularized by the poet Robert Frost, suggests the value of taking a path that diverges from the norm and embracing the unique challenges and experiences that come with doing so. I am drawn to the way in which this phrase encourages us to think independently and to resist the temptation to simply follow the crowd. One word that I find particularly evocative is "ephemeral." This adjective, which describes something that is fleeting or transitory, speaks to the impermanence of the human experience. I find this word to be both poignant and thought-provoking, as it reminds us of the fragility of our existence and the importance of cherishing the moments that we have.Another word that I find compelling is "quintessential." This adjective, which describes something that is the perfect embodiment of a particular quality or type, suggests a sense of refinement and excellence. I am drawn to the way in which this word conveys a sense of precision and attention to detail, and I find it to be a useful tool for describing the most exemplary examples of a particular phenomenon. One phrase that I find particularly inspiring is "the power of one." This expression, which emphasizes the ability of a single individual to make a meaningful difference in the world, speaks to the inherent potential that resides within each of us.

She is wearing a dress like mine. 这句话当中like是介词,这句话的意思是,她穿的连衣裙和我的很像。
Like还可以作为连词(conjunction)。
Like I said, you’re always welcome to stay。
例如2015年6月的四级写作真题,主题是the impact of the Internet on learning. impact叫做“影响”,A of B的意思是“B的A”,所以the impact of the Internet翻译为“互联网的影响”。
其次,the impact on something,理解为对某事/某物的影响,所以the impact of A on B,意思是A对B 产生的影响。
The impact of the Internet on learning, 意思是互联网对学习产生的影响。
相应地,同年同月另一套题目话题为the impact of the Internet on the way people communicate,可以理解为互联网对人们沟通交流方式产生的影响。
如果考生对这些语法知识不理解、不熟悉,在审题构思阶段就会遭遇困难,写作成绩就会受到影响。
写作阶段,词汇准确和句型的多变非常重要,建议考生们不要一味地为了写长句而写长句。
机械地堆砌单词极容易让句子变得难以理解,而添加一些必要的结构能使句子变得丰满而不累赘,例如时间状语、地点状语、原因状语等。
使用代表起承转合的逻辑连接词,可以使自己文章的层次更清晰。
表示关系可以使用due to, since, therefore等。
As well as, either……or……和not only……but also……常常可以用来表示并列关系。
递进关系的连接词则有besides, furthermore; in addition等。
此外,yet, in spite of,though,although, however则为常用的转折连接词。
The past simple tense is used to express a completed action which took place at the specified time in the past.其中completed 和which引导的定语从句都是修饰action的,只不过比较简洁的completed放在了中心词action之前,which took place at the specified time in the past 这个定语从句放在了中心词action之后。
如果不分析句式而只是顺着单词的顺序翻译,理解难度就会加大。
还有一种情况就是,句子的主干成分被其他修饰限定成分分隔开来导致的阅读困难,Jack White, the former frontman of the White Stripes and an influential figure among fellow musicians, likes to makes things difficult for himself.这句话其实中心意思非常简单,就是Jack White likes to make things difficult for himself. 但是部分考生会被the frontman of the White Stripes and an influential figure among fellow musicians 这个较长的结构吓到,导致抓不住这句话的重点从而影响理解。
其实,这只是个同位语结构,是对前面Jack White这个人物的简单介绍,介绍了他的身份,White Stripes的主唱,还是同代音乐家中具有影响力的人物。
考生们不熟悉同位语结构固定出现在人名、机构名、新兴事物、陌生概念等成分后,就很难精准理解这句话。
身为作者或者讲话人,在引入一个读者或者听众可能不了解的概念时,有责任进行简单介绍,这时同位语就会发挥巨大的作用。
Amazon, by far the largest bookseller in the country, reported on May 19 that it is now selling more books in its electronic Kindle format than in the old paper-and-ink format.这句话中,by far the largest bookseller in the country是同位语结构,在本句中,亚马逊不是热带雨林,而是美国最大的图书销售商,简单的一个名词词组就把读者的疑惑打消了,描述也更加精准。
考生们也应该学习同位语的使用方法。
这句话的主体结构是Amazon reported something on May 19. something是that引导的宾语从句,it is now selling more books in its electronic Kindle format than in the old paper-and-ink format.
