People behind us were older;their children were in their late teens, and we didn’t see them or hear from them much.Time passed and a younger family moved in. While at first we thought this would be fun for the kids, it quickly became a pain. If one of our children had a birthday party the neighbors would line up their children along the back fence to watch. We would have invited their children if they had been of the same age. While our older children had parties the neighbor’s little kids would shout through the fence the entire time; we knew it was time to get a new fence. When we built our fence next to the old one, they not only paid nothing for it, but watched us have it built. After we built our fence the mother of the house would call over and ask who was jumping on our trampoline (蹦床). She could only see the tops of their heads and couldn’t figure out who it was. Good people, just too much interest in us. Years later they rebuilt their houses and built a pretty fence between the houses next to the old one. They were not surprised that we didn’t want to pay for it. I have to admit their fence is much prettier than our wooden one.Our yard is next to four other homes; each of the families has had his own home with a strong fence. We have left ours in place. While we love all our neighbors we are glad we have fences between each of us. Only in this way can we protect our little privacy (隐私), as fences certainly do make good neighbors.36. When the author’s older children had a party, .A. his neighbor’s children also had a party as they didB. they would invite his neighbor’s children to attend itC. his neighbor’s children would shout behind the fenceD. his neighbor’s children would watch it through the window37. Why did the author’s home have a wooden fence built?A. The wooden fence looked more beautiful.B. With the fence his home could become safer.C. They didn’t want their little privacy to be known.D. The author’s family didn’t like their new neighbor.38. Which of the following statements is TRUE?A. The author’s neighbors all have built strong fences.B. Old people living behind liked children very much.C. The young neighbors wanted the author to pay for the fence.D. The young neighbors were very angry about the author’s ugly fence.39. We can guess from the passage that .A. the young mother of the house was interested in other families’ lifeB. the neighbor of the author started to live there when the author was very youngC. the author thinks that the fences destroy the friendship between the neighborsD. the author’s family was not a big one when the younger family moved hereBDuring an earthquake, you should need to know a thing or two on what to do. If the earthquake strikes while you’re inside a house, you should lie on the floor and take cover under a strong table or other furniture. If there is no furniture you can cover your head with your arms and keep still in the corner of the room. You should remain away from windows, glass walls, or anything that can fall.If you are in bed, stay still. Hold firmly onto your bed and make use of a pillow (枕头) to safeguard your head. You may use a doorway or shelter but only when it is close to you. It should also be considered whether it is strong enough to deal with the load. Do not use lifts, even when they work. Electricity may go out at any time. Many injuries happen when people try to rush out. This means you ought to stay still in your house or perhaps wherever you are. When you are outdoors, you should be far away from buildings, power wires or lights. You should be in the open until the quake stops. Remember that many earthquake deaths outside the house come from debris (碎片), falling walls, flying glass and other falling objects. If an earthquake strikes and you are driving, you pull up to the side of the highway and stop as quickly as possible. You ought not to stop under trees, buildings or power wires. Don’t stop in the middle of the street since it could trouble others. When trapped, you shouldn’t move. Your mouth should be covered with a piece of clothing or handkerchief. The pair grew up together and finally became an attraction of the zoo.Back on the singles market: zoo officials are not clear about why the turtles have fallen out but they say that Bibi, the female, starts attacking her partner, biting off part of his shell.“But for no reason that anyone can discover they seem to have fallen out, they just can’t stand each other,” added Happ.It seems that it was Bibi, the female, who started the break-up.According to the newspaper The Austrian Times, staff at the zoo realized all was not well when Bibi attacked Poldi — biting off a chunk (厚片) of his shell. She launched further attacks on her partner until her partner was moved to a different location. The zoo even called in animal experts to try and reunite the couple with counseling but, so far, to no avail. In order to get them in a more loving mood, the experts tried to put some fun back into the relationship by getting them to play games together, but it has not worked.Happ told the newspaper, “It is very rare for animals who are a pair to fall apart after such a long per iod. We hope we can bring a reconciliation (和解) around,” she added.Keeping the animals apart is important as weighing in at 100 kilos each — if they wanted they could kill the other.Giant turtles have no teeth but instead have a horn-rimmed mouth and a powerful jaw which can cause serious damage.44. Do it hard, just make it possible, and I’ll not complain about the pain I have experienced. My spirit is unconquerable (不可征服的). Fearless, I will face each opponent, forI know I am capable. AThis idea is mean (刻薄的). Children need to have a good holiday at the end of a busy school year. The long holidays give them time to do thi ngs they wouldn’t otherwise (不然) get to do. In my family we go to Ireland and see relatives and friends during the summer vacation. And it might seem long to some people, but time flies when you’re having fun.—Ruby MullinI have good memories (记忆) of my own long summer holidays, and I love the chance to have days out with my son. I think many parents, especially single parents like me, have made job choices based on being able to have time off for the summer —and now we’ve done that, we don’t want to see things changed.—Viki Bantock Having worked at a school that had a four-week summer break instead of the usual six, I’d say longer holidays are better. Teachers are under so much pressure (压力) now to get good results; most put in lots of hours in the evening and at weekends and feel very tired by the end of term. There is a dip (退步) in learning after a six-week holiday, but it only takes a few weeks for students to get back up to speed.—Marek KaminskiA shorter summer holiday would be much better. The six-week break seems a thing for another age, when mothers didn’t work and your mum lived round the corner to give you a hand. If I was able to take a six-week holiday, great, I’d love it —but in the real world that isn’t possible. Instead, I end up spending around £600 on childcare for each week when I’m working.—Nachelle Crowther1. What does Ruby Mullin usually do during summer holidays?A. She does part-time jobs.B. She visits relatives and friends.C. She goes travelling around her country.D. She prepares for the new school year.2. What do we know about Marek Kaminski?A. He doesn’t teach school any more.B. His son doesn’t do well in school.C. He usually works overtime.D. His family is very helpful.3. Who holds a different idea from the other three people?A. Ruby Mullin.B. Viki Bantock.C. Marek Kaminski.D. Nachelle Crowther.BA cafe owner has been delivering free soup for one year to a stranger going through chemotherapy (化疗). I was learning so many new things. When the story was done, she began to talk about how she came to write the book. She talked about Pakistan and Afghanistan. I listened closely. It was so surprising. As she was talking, I closed my eyes and tried to imagine what it would be like to live in a refugee (难民) camp. I put myself in the little girl’s place. Besides, I am a book lover. In the refugee camp, they don’t even have books. It is hard to imagine. We have so many libraries filled with books. We are so lucky. We live in strong, brick houses. Herb Chasan could have eased into retirement after spending 18 years teaching math to high school students. But the octogenarian couldn’t rest. It wasn’t until eight years ago that he stepped into one of the city’s poorest neighborhoods. He noticed a group of children wandering nearby with nothing to do. He couldn’t shake the image from his mind, and it became the driving force for Hoops and Homework, an after-school program that has provided activities and tutoring for youth up to age 14.Since 2012, Hoops and Homework has helped more than 300 children who otherwise would have gone home to empty houses or roamed the streets until their parents got off work. Thanks to Mr. Chasan and dedicated staff and volunteers, the children instead have spent industrious afternoons making crafts, playing basketball, learning violin and yoga, gardening, and basking in the attention of a small army of tutors. “Our goal is to help these kids break the cycle of poverty and jail to have a good job, to be a success,” says Mr. Chasan.Within a few months, he secured $81,000 in town funding to start the program. It takes $170,000 annually to run the center. Hoops and Homework has encouraged people from different parts of the community to volunteer during the after-school sessions because they can tell the children “someday you may be doing that job, we love to have role models come in.”The program goes beyond helping children. Most of the staff members are bilingual, which enables them to serve the largely Spanish-speaking community. “My English is not good,” says Keila Cupid, a parent who lives close to the center. But the mother of 11-year-old Cupid is clear in expressing her gr atitude for Hoops and Homework: “It’s a safe space for my daughter when I am away to my English class.”1. Should you share goals or keep them private? You’ll find conflicting answers if you turn to Google. Some say sharing goals cannot live up to one’s expectations because you’ll feel rewarded before actually doing anything to achieve them. The Arabs have for centuries voiced a similar message in the proverb “the more you surround your candle, the more it remains lit”. More recently, the idea became wide spread in 2010 with a TED talk titled “Keep your goals to yourself”.“In most cases you get more benefit from sharing your goal than if you don’t—as long as you share it with someone whose opinion you value,” Howard Klein told Ohio State News. Klein and hi s colleagues conducted several studies on goal-sharing. In one, the results showed that working adults frequently do share goals and are more likely to be committed to achieving those goals when they’re shared with people who are perceived to be of higher status.A second study involved 171 undergraduate students who were asked to play a game. After the first round, the students were asked to play the game again, but this time they had to set a goal. The researchers separated the students into three groups. For one group, the students had to share their goals with a lab assistant who was dressed in a suit and introduced himself as a doctoral-level student in the business school who was an expert on the topic. For another group, the lab assistant was a casually dressed man who identified himself as a student at a local community college. A third group wasn’t asked to share their goals with anyone. The results showed that people who shared their goals with the high-status person not only-showed higher commitment to achieving the goal, but also performed better in the game. Meanwhile, the two other groups showed similar commitment and performance. Klein said, “You want to be dedicated and unwilling to give up on your goal, which is more likely when you share that goal with someone you look up to and whose opinion you value and which might incentivize you to achieve your goals.”1. What message does the Arab proverb express?A.Setting goals makes you more determined.B.Sharing your goals with others gets benefits.C.Keeping your goals secret is the best policy.D.Publishing your goals makes you rewarded.2. What can be inferred from Klein’s two studies?A.How students consider the two lab assistants matters most.B.Adults are more likely to achieve their goals than students.C.Adults are more committed when speaking out their goals.D.The experiment on the third group turned out fruitless.3. What does the underlined word “incentivize” mean in the last paragraphA.Assist. B.Encourage. C.Intend. D.Advise.4. According to Klein, how can you be fully devoted to your goal?A.By discussing it with your friends.B.By sharing it with respected people.C.By maintaining your performance.D.By questioning people of high status.4. This week record-breaking temperatures of more than 40’C were forecast in Britain. Schools closed and hospitals cancelled routine appointments. The Royal Air Force had to rearrange flights from its biggest air base after the runway melted. In mainland Europe, things were bleaker still. After weeks of drought, a heatwave sparked wildfires in France, Greece, Portugal and Spain. Parts of America are struggling through one of their hottest summers ever. And many places of eastern and southern China have seen unusually high temperatures in recent weeks. Why are all of these places suffering extreme heat at the same time? Climate change has made heatwaves more frequent. Very hot temperatures that were once rare occur more frequently and heatwaves that were once impossible come to pass. The temperatures in Britain this week fit into the second category(II),says Richard Betts, a climate researcher with the British Met Office. Similarly, modelling carried out by the World Weather Attribution group, a research coalition, found that last year’s unprecedented heatwave in the Pacific Northwest would have been ”virtuallyimpossible“ without climate change. New records will be set as long as humans continue to burn fossil fuels and destroy carbon-storing ecosystems.Whatever the cause, the consequences are disastrous. Heatwaves kill people and worsen existing health conditions. Heatwaves can cause crops to suffer, as happened this spring in India. In three northern states, yields probably fell by between 10%-35%. If several “breadbasket” arc as are affected there will be worldwide shortages, pushing up prices. Other systems are at risk, too. Heat can disrupt everything from manufacturing to transport. Last weak factories in Zhejiang province in China were forced to ration(定量供应)power to ensure enough supply for air-conditioners in nearby homes. Heatwaves often stretch energy grids(电网)to breaking point. In places where electricity is moved across borders, a stream of power from somewhere not affected can help stabilize the grid. But simultaneous(同时的)heatwaves make that complicated. In an interconnected world, regions rely on each other to cope with disaster. Which becomes much harder when the disasters arc happening in many places at once.1. What is the first paragraph mainly about?A.Extreme heat breaks out across the globe.B.The new temperature record has been set in some areas.C.Natural disasters are increasing due to the extreme heat.D.Many places arc actively fighting against extreme heat.2. What can we learn from paragraph 2?A.There used to be frequent heatwaves and high temperatures.B.The British feel more comfortable when the temperature is II.C.One of the critical factors in extreme heat is human activities.D.It is impossible to experience extreme heat in Pacific Northwest.3. What problem would heatwaves cause globally according to the last paragraph?A.Low birth rate.B.High crop price.C.Less factoriesD.Global warming.4. What does the underlined pronoun “that” refer to in the last paragraph?A.Stretching energy grids.B.Rationing power in factories.C.Generating power.D.Moving electricity across borders.5. The door opens and you are amazed at seeing people jumping and flying around like superheroes. Calm down, you are not in a Marvel film, just a trampoline (蹦床) park.In recent years trampolining has become a new craze among Chinese youths. Short videos are regularly uploaded to social media showing people’s excitement about jumping back and forth on the colorful trampolines. Most videos feature teenagers. 1 .Ms Shi, a 28-year-old from Beijing, goes to trampoline parks almost every weekend. She said “When I was a child, I loved bouncing up and down on the trampolines, though they were just small and simple ones. They made me feel free and happy. 2 .”It’s true that today’s trampoline parks are bigger, more professional and more creative. 3 . you can obviously jump, play in the inflatables (充气垫), or shoot basketballs like an NBA superstar. Also, if you're brave enough, you can learn to walk on the wall.“Trampolining is so much fun. It doesn't feel like exercising at all.” Ms Shi said.4 . According to Robert Smith, a British sports therapist, “The trampoline pad is bouncy and absorbs a large amount of the impact of your landing, so your bones and joints are protected and strengthened at the same time.”Unlike playing soccer, basketball, tennis or any other competitive sports, the risk of injury while trampolining is relatively low. 5 . “You must do warm-up exercises before playing. And you can't lose concentration dur ing the movements,” Peter Cheng, a die-hard trampoline fan, who also owns a trampoline park, warned. While outdoor activities are largely up to the weather, the indoor trampoline parks are really good places to go whenever you are seeking a fun cardio workout (有氧运动).6. This is very much like different greetings(问候语) used in English at different times of the day or night. In Japanese culture, it also depends on whether you are on the phone or meeting somebody or whether you are close to the person you are greeting. We don’t get formal with our close friends. We seldom greet them with “Good morning “ or “Good evening”. A “Hi” is enough.Although the most popular and most well-known translation for “Hello” is still “Konnichiwa”, it is not exactly how to say hello in Japanese. I t is not the most suitable word for it. Actually, the correct greeting in English for “Konnichiwa” is “Good day” or “Good noon,” and I am sure you wouldn’t like greeting people with a “Good day” at any time, and neither do Japanese like saying “Konnichiwa” when they want to say “Hello”.So what to do? Let’s do it the way the Japanese do. Use “Ohaiyo Gozaimasu” for “Good morning”, “Konnichiwa” when it’s noon and “Konbanwa” to greet somebody in the afternoon. Things differ when you are on the phone. Just say “Moshi, Moshi”, which is actually similar to saying “Hello” over the phone, because one hardly ever uses “Good morning” or “Good evening” right after picking up the phone. Next time, I’ll tell something about my life in a Japan.1. What is the best title for this passage?A.H ow to say hello in Japanese.B. How to greet close friends in Japanese.C.How to greet people in Japanese.D.Some difference between English and Japanese.2. In the writer’s opinion,______.A.Japanese culture is similar to American cultureB.Japanese people don’t like using “Konnichiwa” as a greeting for the whole day.C. people don’t need to be police to their close friendsD.Japanese people are very friendly to each other4. Japanese people use ______ on the phone.A. Ohaiyo GozeimasuB.Moshi, MoshiC.KonnichiwaD.Konbanwa5. You don’t show your secret personality when you’re awake because you can control your behavior, but when you’re asleep, your sleeping position shows the real you. In a normal night, of course, people frequently change their position. The important position is the one that you go to sleep in.If you go to sleep on your back, you’re a very open person. You normally trust people and you are easily influenced by fashion or new ideas. You don’t like to upset people, so you never express your real feelings. You’re quite shy and you aren’t very confident. If you sleep on your stomach, you are a rather secretive(不坦率的)person. You worry a lot and you’re always easily upset. You’re very stubborn(顽固的), but you aren’t very ambitious. You’re usually live for today not for tomorrow. This means that you enjoy having a good time.If you sleep curled up (卷曲),you are probably a very nervous person. You have a low opinion of yourself and so you’re often defensive. You’re shy and you don’t normally like meeting people. You prefer to be on your own. You’re easily hurt.If you sleep on your side, you have usually got a well-balanced personality. You know your strengths and weaknesses. You’re usually careful. You have a confident personality. You sometimes feel anxious, but you don’t often get depressed. You always say what you think even if it annoys people.41. According to the writer, you naturally show your secret and real personality .A. only in a normal nightB. only when you go to sleepC. only when you refuse to show yourself to the wordD. only when you change sleeping position42. Which is NOT mentioned in the second paragraph about a person’s personality?A. He or she is always open with others.B. He or she always likes new ideas earlier than others.C. He or she is always easily upset.D. He or she tends to believe in others.43 Point out which sentence is used to show the personality of a person who is used to sleeping on his or her stomach?A. He or she is careful not to offend others.B. He or she doesn’t want to stick to his or her opinion.C. He or she can’t be successful in any business.D. He or she likes to bring others happiness.44. Which of the following may be the reason for you not to make friends with a person who sleeps curled up?.A. He or she would rather be alone than communicate with you.B. He or she is rarely ready to help you.C. He or she prefers staying at home to going out.D. He or she wouldn’t like to get help from you.45. It appears that the writer tends to think highly of the person who sleeps on one side because .A. he or she always shows sympathy for peopleB. he or she is confident, but not stubbornC. he or she has more strengths than weaknessesD. he or she often considers annoying peopleBGardening can be a very relaxing hobby for many people and this wonderful experience is not just for adults. Children are interested in gardening as well, if given the chance to explore nature and science in this way. Gardening can bring joy to both children and their parents alike, especially when the experience is shared together. The time that is spent gardening together builds precious memories within their hearts and minds for years to come. When you are gardening with your children, try to give them their own special area. Keep their area in the center of the best soil and light, as you want to make sure of a successful gardening experience.Plastic tools easily break and are difficult to use in the dirt, so when you are gardening with your children, give them real tools to use if possible. Even offering to let them use your tools is a way to admit the worth of the work they are doing. It is also important to talk with your children about the whole process of gardening, from planting to the harvest. They need to understand how things work and the importance of what they are doing.Show off the children’s gardening work by taking friends and visitors for a walking tour through the garden and point out the children’s particular spot. When you give attention to the children’s work, this is a great motivation(动机)for children to continue wanting to be involved. Do not force children to take part when they are in a bad moodor if they are becoming bored. Instead, allow them to do something different, like building a scarecrow(稻草人)! This makes the gardening experience even more interesting. As you work together side by side with your children, you will encourage a love of the land in them, as well as create lasting memories of time spent with you.46. What is the text mainly about?A. Teaching children how to garden.B. Giving children the chance to show offC. Helping children realize the importance of work.D. Sharing the joy of gardening with children.47. Why should you introduce your children’s work to your friends?A. It makes your friends believe your children are smart.B. It helps you gain more confidence in your children.C. It encourages children to continue doing such work.D. It attracts your friends to take part in your gardening.48. What kind of people is the text mainly written for?A. ChildrenB. ParentsC. FarmersD. TeachersCWhen a rather dirty, poorly dressed person kneels at your feet and puts out his hands to beg for a few coins, do you hurry on, not knowing what to do, or do you feel sad and hurriedly hand over some money? What should our attitude to beggars be? There can be no question that the world is full of terribly sad stories. It must be terrible to have no idea where our next meal is going to come from. It seems cruel not to give some money to beggars.Certainly, most of the world's great religions(宗教)order us to be open-hearted and share what we have with those less fortunate than ourselves. But has the world changed? Maybe what was morally(道德方面)right in the old days, when one knew exactly who in the village had suffered misfortune and needed help, is no longer the best idea. Quite a few people will not give to beggars. Let us look at their arguments.Firstly, some believe that many city beggars dress up on purpose to look pitiable and actually make a good living from begging. Giving to beggars only encourages this sort of evil(罪行). Secondly, there is the worry that the money you give will be spent on beer, wine or drugs. Thirdly, there is the opinion that there is no real excuse for begging. One might be poor, but that is no reason for losing one's sense of pride and self-dependence.Related to this is the opinion that the problem should be dealt with by the government rather than ordinary people. Some people think beggars should go to the local government department and receive help.It is hard to come to any final conclusion, there are various cases and we must deal with them differently. A few coins can save a life in some situations, and even if the money is wasted, that does not take away the moral goodness of the giver.49. What is mainly discussed in the passage?A. Moral deeds (行为) of people.B. Religious activities of the church.C. Moral goodness of the giver.D. Arguments on giving to beggars.50. What can we infer from the sentence "But has the world changed?" in the second paragraph?A. People no longer know who suffers misfortune in the village.B. Some people will not do what was morally right in the past.C. We don’t meet with those who need help any more.D. Now it is the government's duty to help the beggars.51. Which of the following is NOT mentioned in the passage?A Some people dress up to pretend to be beggars.B Some beggars want money to help their children go to school,C. Some beggars use the money to buy drugs.D. Some beggars have no excuse for begging.52. In the last paragraph, the writer thinks that it is hard to come to any final conclusion, because_____.A. the cases can be so differentB. there are so many beggarsC. there is so much money wastedD. there are so many different argumentsDIn China he’s known as “the Flying Fish”; in America they call him “the Baltimore Bullet”.Whatever you call him, American swimmer Michael Phelps looks destined(注定)to become a household nameacross the world after breaking the Olympic record for most gold medals in a single Games.Phelps’s total of eight gold medals in Beijing put him one ahead of Mark Spitz’s previous(先前的)record set in 1972.Now people are already calling him the greatest Olympian of all time. But whether he is or not, what is it that makes Michael Phelps so good?A good place to start might be his physique(体格). Phelps has the perfect body shape for a swimmer: his arm span is longer than his height; he has very flexible joints(灵活的关节),huge lungs, and his incredibly large feet(size 14 in the US, size 49 in China)act like flippers(蹼)in the water. To feed his huge swimmer’s body, Ph elps eats an astonishing 12,000 calories a day, six times the average for a man of his age.He then owes it to a swimsuit which has been making waves in the world of swimming. Designed by NASA, the American space agency, the suit is made of a special material which is said to help athletes swim 2% faster.Michael Phelps should spare a thought for his mum, who first pushed him into swimming as a way of making friends, and who believed in him when one teacher said he would never be a success.Whateve r the reason for his success, Phelps admits there was perhaps also a bit of luck involving in winning his eight medals.“I guess eight is a lucky number for me, too, now. The opening ceremony started on 8/8/08. Maybe it was meant to be.” he said.53.How many gold medals did Mark Spitz won in 1972? A.6 B.7 C.8 D.954.What makes Michael Phelps so popular?A.He has broken the Olympic record for most gold medals in a single Games.B.He is equipped with the best swimsuit designed by an American space agency.C.He is a very lucky person with a lot of people to help him.D.He has a very good appetite and eats six times the average for a man of his age.55.According to the passage, how many calories does a man need a day on average?A.4,000B.3,000C.2,000D.6,00056.Which of the following is the reason for his success, in Phelps’ opinion?a.his physiqueb.the swimsuit designed by NASAc.his mother’s encouragementd.good lucke.his confidence A.a, c, d, e B.a, b, c, e C.a, b, d, e D.a, b, c, dEThere’s a body of water in Israel that is actually below sea level. Water constantly runs into it, but, because of the law of gravity (万有引力定律),nothing can flow out of it. Do you know the name of this famous lake? It’s called the Dead Sea. It’s called this because no living thing could live there. The water is almost dead, compared to what happens with “living water”.When you think of the term “living water”, the image that comes to mind is a rushing river that is flowing. It’s filled with life and movement. It doesn’t just “receive”, but is also “giving” simultaneously. Many of us believe that we need to receive more of something in order to be happy. Whether what we desire is money or something else, we think we need more of it in order to be fulfilled. As a result, we begin to operate in fear and therefore don’t give anything because we’re afraid that we won’t have enough. The result? Like the Dead Sea, we become lifeless. Life is meant to flow. when a pool stops flowing, it becomes stagnant(停滞的). Stagnant water breeds disease and death. It can’t breathe. It can’t receive any more. If nothing is flowing out, there’s no room for anything else to come in.The solution? Give. As you give, you’ll receive. It’s a universal law. You see it at work everywhere. we’ve somehow been deceived (欺骗)into believing that if we don’t give, we’ll have more. Or we’re afraid that if we do give, we won’t have anything left. On one hand, this seems to make sense. But it doesn’t work. Because when we don’t give, we shut off the flow of what’s coming in.57. What is the first paragraph mainly about?A. The development of the Dead SeaB. The special character of the Dead SeaC. The position of the Dead SeaD. The present situation of the Dead Sea58. According to the passage, people wouldn’t like to give because ____.A. they are really poor in factB. they don’t know how to giveC .they don’t know who to give D. they are still not satisfied59. According to the passage, if you refuse to give, you will _____.A. be like a pool with stagnant waterB. have enough space for what you’ll receiveC. need something more to be satisfiedD. do everything according to the law60. What would be the best title for the passage?A. Give and you’ll receiveB. The secret of the Dead seaC. A universal lawD. come in and come out第三部分:写作(共两节,满分30分)第一节改错(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)每句中仅有一处错误,每处错误仅涉及一个单词的增加,删除或修改。

This means a hostess may not seat a small group until a small table is available, even if a large one is. If you are sitting at a table with people you don’t know, it is impolite to light up a cigarette without asking if it will disturb them.At American restaurants and coffee shops you are usually served tap water〔自来水〕before you order. You may find the bread and butter is free, and if you order coffee, you may get a free refill. Most cities and towns have no rules about opening and closing time for stores or restaurants, though they usually do make rules for bars. Especially in large cities, stores may be open 24 hours a day.Serving in restaurants is often large, too large for many people. If you can’t finish your meal but would like to enjoy the food later, ask your waitress or waiter for a“doggie bag〞. It may have a picture of a dog on it, but everybody knows you’re taking the food for yourself.Supper and dinner are both words for the evening meal. Some people have“Sunday dinner〞. This is an especially big noon meal.Tips are not usually added to the check. They are not included in the price of the meal, either.
