1. You bet. 就是指, "You can bet money on that." 例如別⼈問你, "Is this is the way to High Tower Museum." 例如電視影集 "Friends" 裏⾯, Monica 有⼀次就說了⼀句讓我⾄今都印象深刻的話, "You bet your ass I'm going to fire you." There you go.就這樣了."There you go." 或 "That's it." 另外像是電台的點歌節⽬ DJ 在播放⾳樂之前都會說, "There you go." 例如有⼀次班上同學交報告給教授, 結果教授還跟他講東講西的, 那⽼美也不客氣, 就說, "Well, I just came by to give you my report, so, there you go!" Here you go.幹的好."Here you go." 和 "There you go." 仔細來分, "Here you go." 指的是⼀件事情還在進⾏之中, ⽽ "There you go." ⽽不是 "There you go." 此外, "Here you go." 和 "There you go." 問題是他們為什麼不說, "There you go." 和 "Here you go." Oh! My God! My godness!" 或是 "Oh! My God!", 相信這⼆句話各位都不陌⽣, 不過這都是跟宗教信仰有點關係的, 如果你是無神論者, 你可以學另⼀句, "Oh! My." My! My!" My! Did she slam the door?" Oh! Boy! Boy!" Boy!" Boy!" Girl!" Boy!" 或是 "Oh! Man!" Dear!" Dear!" Holy cow! Kind of. 例如別⼈問, "Do you like noodles?" 或是, "Sort of." 這兩個字其實這就是 kind of 和 sort of 的簡寫, (當然這⾮常不正式, 不要⽤在正式的英⽂書寫上) 例如, "He is just kinda wierd." 8. The thing is, we need to talk. 所以⽼美常把, "The thing is: blah, blah, blah." 掛在嘴邊, 或是有⼈會說, "Here is the thing." 例如, "I really like that new house, but the thing is, how much is it?" Duh. 例如你問⼀個瑞⼠⼈, "Do you like chocolate?"" 可是你要是問他, "You must be very fat." 他就會說, "That's bull." Yes? 當然你也可以說, "What's up?" 例如 "me too." 但⽼美不只會⽤ "me too." 他們還會⽤ "same here." 雖然 same 跟 here 你我都認識, 但我們就不會說"same here." 1. Do you have any pet peeve? (⽽⾮ bad habit.) 所以就有⽼美跟我說過, "Everybody has his pet peeve." 例如我就常聽⽼美抱怨, "Don't you think he is annoying?" Maybe I'm going out on a limb, but I think we still have to invest it. 但是⼝語上⽼美喜歡說, "I'm going out on a limb." 這種不確定的危機感, 就是為什麼⽼美要⽤ "Go out on a limb." 例如你來到⼀個清澈的河邊, 你很想下去游泳, 但四週⼜沒有救⽣員, 這時你就可以說, "Maybe I'm going out on a limb, but I think I am gonna try it." I don't have skeleton in my closet. 當然最簡單的說法就是, "I don't have any secret in the past." 但是這樣的說法不如俚語的⽤法 "I don't have skeleton in my closet" 來得傳神. 這件考試作弊就變成是你的 skeleton in the closet. 例如有次我室友不讓我進他房裏, 我就⽤這句話虧他, "Do you have any skeleton in your room?" 4. Are you sure you are going to set us up? 正確的說法應該⽤ set up 這個⽚語, 例如 set you up 就是幫你製造機會的意思. I can fix you up." Probably. It's still up in the air.⼤概吧. "I haven't made my mind yet." 或是 "We'll see." 就可以了, 不然的話你也可以⼩⼩地賣弄⼀下英⽂, "It's up in the air."另外 "It's up in the air." 例如別⼈問你, "Are you dating Jennifer now?" 你就可以答, "It's up in the air." Okay. Just checking. Check 當動詞⽤是⼀般指 "檢查" ⽽⾔, 例如你想進來時可能忘了關⾨, 你就可以說, "Go check if the door is still open." (反正是無關痛癢) 這時你可以說, "Just a though."; "Just an idea." Do we need to hit a shower first? 這就代表 "Let's go." 類似的⽤法還有像是睡覺⽼美會說, hit the bed, 上路會說 hit the road. That's OK. "That's OK." 你答, "That's OK." 記得有⼀次⽼美來我家作客, 我問他, "Do you need something to drink?" 他說 "That's OK." 就表⽰ "I'm fine." I don't need anything to drink."9. Just right place, right time. 像有⼀次我問⽼美怎麼追到這麼⼀個如花似⽟的⼥朋友, 他回答我, "Just right place, right time." 所以我也開始不單說, "I'm just lucky." 了. 例如後來有⼀次⽼美問我為什麼我有免費的 T 恤可拿, 我就很瀟灑地回答他, "Just right place, right time, no big deal." Same here. 甚⾄有些⼈還會說, "So do I." 但是說真的,⽼美是會說, "me too." I have to go to bed now." 例如最有名的例⼦, 在第六感⽣死戀 (Ghost) 裏, Demi Moore 和Patrick Swayze 的對話, "I love you." "Ditto." 1.Did you believe in the tooth fairy when you were a kid? How much did you get from the tooth fairy this time? One dollar and a token! 2. So that''s what it boils down to. So that''s what it boils down to. So that''s what it boils down to ...(後⾯接你的結論) 有點像是, My point is ... 3. Just a spur of the moment.⼀時興起. Just a spur of the moment, It''s just on a whim 跟 Just a spur of the moment It''s just on a whim. 4. I am in seventh heaven. Oh, She is in seventh heaven! I am so happy. I am in seventh heaven now.5. He''s so anal. 6. I will take a rain check. I will take a rain check, 記得有⼀次我問⽼美, "How do you celebrate your Valentine''s Day with your wife?", 他就回答: "I will take a rain check!" Go check if other people have done that already so you don''t have to reinvent the wheel. 8. That''s a rip-off. I want my money back. 另外, 這句也可以說成, I am ripped-off. Over my dead body. 同樣的, Over my dead body 也就等於 never.10. Just in case someone steals it! 他就可能回答說 , Just in case someone steals it! 1. He was so hard on me last night. He was so hard on me last night I didn't do it well in the test. It's so hard for me. No hard feelings, I believe you are gonna ace it next time.2. I have a hard time with my girlfriend. Have a hard time with sb. I have a hard time with my girlfriend. You will have a hard time getting a ticket. Why do you have such a hard time admitting it? You're getting on my nerves. You get on my nerve. 這句話的意思跟 jump on my back 差不多. Jump on my back You are jumping on my back!4. Get off my back, I didn't sleep last night. Get off my back. I didn't sleep last night. Then get out of my face, I don't want to see you again.5. Cut me some slack! Give me some slack!

常用美国习惯用语1. give me a hand美国人经常说:"Give me a hand."

3. blow outWe arrived two hours late at the big blow-out for Charle's birthday because our car had a blow-out.

比如,美国人经常说:“Give me a hand.”

“Foot the bill.”

就拿下面一句话来作例子吧:例句-1:“We arrived two hours late at the big blow-out for Charlie’s birthday because our car had a blow-out.”

一个是“Lock, stock and barrel”,另外一个是:“Hook, line and sinker”。

Lock, stock and barrel和Hook, line and sinker都是全部的意思,可是用法却不同。

Rockefeller bought the whole oil company lock, stock and barrel.”

(1)everything from soup to nutseverything but the kitchen sinkunder the thumbto stick out like a sore thumball thumbs1.everything from soup to nuts:什么都有字面上everything from soup to nuts的意思是:从汤到乾果,什么都有。

Soup to nuts

You ought to go and look around in that big new department store that just opened at the shopping mall. I've never seen so many different things to buy in all my life -- they sell everything from soup to nuts.

My friend Jean had been posted in a number of countries when she worked as a secretary in overseas embassies. Over the years, she collected so many beautiful things, and her home has practically everything from soup to nuts.
