【一】在含比较级的句子中，比较的对象必须是同类事物，不是同类事物不能进行比较。

如：His legs are longer than mine (= my legs). 他的腿比我的（腿）长。

【二】much，a lot, far, even，a little，a bit可修饰比较级，以加强语气。如：Dennis is a little taller than me, but I’m much stronger than him.

丹尼斯比我稍高一点儿，但是我比他强壮得多。

【三】―the + 形容词比较级，the + 形容词比较级‖意为―越……，越……‖

而―形容词比较级+ and + 形容词比较级‖意为―越来越……‖

【四】形容词最高级前一般要加定冠词the，但如果前面有形容词性物主代词、名词所有格、序数词等修饰时，则不需要加the。副词最高级前the可以省略。如：

The little dog is his best friend. 这只小狗是他最好的朋友。

Danny is the tallest boy in our class, and he jumps farthest.

【五】最高级可被by far, nearly, almost, by no means(决不)等词语修饰。如：

The bridge is by far the longest. 这座桥是目前为止最长的。

【六】表示最高程度的形容词，如excellent，extreme，perfect，favorite等，没有比较级和最高级形式。

【七】最高级的内容往往可以用比较级的形式表达出来。―形容词比较级+ than any other + 单数名词‖可以表达最高级的意思。如：

Our monitor gets to school earlier than any other student in our class.

= Our monitor gets to school earliest in our class. 我们班班长到校最早。

【八】◇比较要遵循前后一致的原则，注意前后呼应。

The population of Shanghai is larger than that of Beijing.

It is easier to make a plan than to carry it out.

【九】◇序数词通常只修饰最高级。

is the second largest continent.

The Yellow River is the second longest river in China.

【十】◇为避免重复，我们通常用that, those, one, ones代替前面出现的名词。that 代替可数名词单数和不可数名词，those代替可数名词复数。one既可指人又可指物，只能代替可数名词。

The weather in China is different from that in America.

The book on the table is more interesting than that(或the one)on the desk.

【十一】◇―否定词+ 比较级‖相当于最高级。

Nothing is so easy as this. =Nothing is easier than this. =This is the easiest thing.

【十二】◇比较级前一般不加冠词。但表示两者中较突出者，且比较级后又有名词或出现了of the two，这时比较级前一定要加the。

He is the taller of the two. /Of the two jobs，he chose the harder one.
