抽烟是非常有害的英语作文Title: The Harmful Effects of Smoking。
Smoking is an extremely detrimental habit that affects not only the individual but also those around them. Despite widespread awareness of its negative consequences, many people continue to smoke, often underestimating theseverity of its impact on health and well-being. In this essay, we will delve into the various harmful effects of smoking and explore why it is imperative to avoid or quit this habit.First and foremost, smoking is a leading cause of preventable death worldwide. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), tobacco use kills more than 8 million people each year, with around 7 million of those deaths attributed to direct tobacco use and approximately 1.2 million to non-smokers being exposed to secondhand smoke. This staggering statistic underscores the urgency of addressing tobacco consumption as a public health priority. One of the most well-known consequences of smoking is its detrimental effect on respiratory health. Smoking damages the lungs and airways, increasing the risk of developing chronic respiratory conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, and bronchitis. These conditions not only impair lung function but also diminish quality of life, making everyday tasks such as breathing and physical activity challenging. Moreover, smoking significantly elevates the risk of developing various types of cancer. Tobacco smoke contains thousands of harmful chemicals, many of which are carcinogenic. Smoking is closely linked to lung cancer, with the majority of lung cancer cases attributed to tobacco use. However, it also increases the risk of developing cancer in other parts of the body, including the mouth, throat, esophagus, bladder, pancreas, and cervix. The carcinogens in tobacco smoke can damage DNA and trigger abnormal cell growth, leading to the formation of malignant tumors. In addition to its impact on physical health, smoking has profound effects on mental well-being. Nicotine, the addictive substance found in tobacco, alters brain chemistry and can lead to dependence. Many smokers find it challenging to quit due to nicotine addiction, experiencing withdrawal symptoms such as irritability, anxiety, and cravings when attempting to abstain from smoking. This addiction cycle perpetuates the habit and makes itdifficult for individuals to break free from its grasp.Furthermore, smoking poses significant financial burdens on both individuals and society as a whole. The costs associated with purchasing tobacco products accumulate over time, draining personal finances and straining healthcare systems. Smoking-related healthcare expenses, including treatment for smoking-related illnesses and lost productivity due to illness or premature death, place a substantial economic burden on society. Moreover, the indirect costs of smoking, such as fire damage and environmental pollution from cigarette waste, further exacerbate its economic impact.Efforts to combat smoking-related harm have been underway for decades, encompassing various strategies such as public awareness campaigns, tobacco taxation, smoking cessation programs, and smoke-free policies. While progress has been made in reducing smoking rates in many parts ofthe world, significant challenges remain in addressing disparities in tobacco use, tackling the influence of tobacco industry marketing, and supporting smokers in quitting successfully. In conclusion, smoking is an exceedingly harmful habit with far-reaching consequences for individuals, communities, and society as a whole. From its detrimental effects on physical health and mental well-being to its economic burdens, smoking exacts a heavy toll that cannot be overstated. It is incumbent upon us to prioritize tobacco control efforts, support smoking cessation initiatives, and raise awareness about the dangers of smoking to safeguard public health and promote healthier, smoke-free environments for all.。

Smoking is harmful英语作文篇一Smoking should be banned. To what extent do you agree or disagree?Nowhere in the world has the issue of tobacco been so much debated as in our society. Nowadays, tobacco is more harmful than drug to people’s health, therefore many people think that smoking isn’t banned that is a direct and primary reason to induce this kind of proble The above point is certainly true; this essay will outline three reasons. The main reason is that tobacco is a silent killer to smokers. Tobacco is known to be the probable cause of some 25 different diseases, and for some, such as lung cancer, bronchitis and emphysema, it is the main cause. According to a WHO report four million people die yearly from tobacco-related diseases, that is one death every eight seconds. Tobacco is significantly being a greater cause of death and disability than any other single cause.Another reason is that more and more young people are under 18 years old who smoke cigarette have been blinded by the deceit of tobacconists. Tobacco among adolescents remains stubbornly persistent. Smoking among adolescents rose in the 1990s in several developed countries, such as China, Vietnam and Thailand . While new markets are being opened by the tobacco industry actions, old markets have not been closed. Tobacco is a global threat.Last but not the least reason is the increase in cigarette smuggling. Because of tobacco smuggling, the legal retailing and distribution systems are badly affected, and faced with increased lawlessness and heavy tax losses. This behavior severely affects the economy. In conclusion, smoking should be banned, because of the hazard it poses to people’s health. Smoking is harmful英语作文篇二If you smoke and you still don#39;t believe that there#39;s a definite link between smoking and bronchial troubles, heart disease and lung cancer, then you are certainly deceiving yourself. No one will accuse you of hypocrisy. Let us just say that you are suffering from a bad case of wishful thinking. This needn#39;t make you too unfortable because you are in good pany. Whenever the subject of smoking and health is raised, the governments of most countries hear no evil, see no evil and smell no evil. You don#39;t have to look very far to find out why the official reactions to medical findings have been so lukewar The answer is simply money. Tobacco is a wonderful modity to tax. It#39;s almost like a tax on our daily bread. This is surely the most short-sighted policy you could imagine. While money is eagerly collected in vast sums with one hand, it is paid out in increasingly vaster sums with the other. Enormous amounts are spent on cancer research and on efforts to cure people suffering from the disease. Countless valuable lives are lost. In the long run, there is no doubt that everybody would be much better-off if smoking were banned altogether. For a start, governments could begin by banning all cigarette and tobacco advertising and should then conduct antismoking advertising campaigns of their own. Smoking should be banned in all public places like theatres, cinemas and restaurants. Great efforts should be made to inform young people especially of the dire consequences of taking up the habit. A horrific warning--say, a picture of a death#39;s head--should be included in every packet of cigarettes that is sold. As individuals we are certainly weak, but if governments acted honestly and courageously, theycould protect us from ourselves.

1Smoking is extremely harmful to our health. There are numerous negative impacts that smoking brings to our bodies.Firstly, smoking does great damage to the respiratory system. It often leads to coughing. The harmful substances in cigarettes irritate the throat and lungs continuously, which may further develop into bronchitis. Long -term smokers are more likely to suffer from reduced lung function and even lung cancer.Secondly, it has a bad influence on the cardiovascular system. Smoking increases the risk of heart attacks. The nicotine and other toxins in cigarettes can make the blood vessels constrict, which makes the heart work harder to pump blood. This extra stress on the heart over time can lead to serious heart problems. For example, I have an uncle who has been smoking for decades. He often has shortness of breath and recently was diagnosed with a heart condition. Doctors strongly advised him to quit smoking immediately. In conclusion, smoking is a bad habit that we should avoid for the sake of our health.2Smoking has long been recognized as one of the most harmful habits to human health. It exerts a wide range of negative impacts on our bodies.First and foremost, smoking has a devastating effect on the lungs. The numerous toxic substances in cigarettes, such as tar and nicotine, can gradually damage the lung tissue. This leads to a decline in lung function, making it difficult for smokers to breathe properly. Over time, it significantly increases the risk of developing serious lung diseases like lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonarydisease (COPD).In addition, smoking also weakens the immune system. A weakened immune system means that the body is less able to defend itself against various diseases and infections. Smokers are more likely to catch colds, flu and other infectious diseases compared to non - smokers. According to medical research, in a large - scale study, the incidence of respiratory infections in smokers is nearly twice as high as that in non - smokers. Moreover, smoking can also have adverse effects on the cardiovascular system. It can cause an increase in blood pressure and heart rate, and damage the blood vessels. This in turn raises the risk of heart disease and stroke. In conclusion, smoking is a serious threat to health. Given all these harmful effects, it is essential for people to stay away from smoking to safeguard their well -being.3Smoking has been a widespread and concerning habit that has a profound impact on our health. In the short -term, smoking brings about several noticeable problems. For instance, it often leads to bad breath, which can be quite unpleasant for those around smokers. Moreover, it can dull the sense of taste and smell. Smokers may find that they cannot fully enjoy the flavors of delicious foods or the scents of beautiful flowers as they used to.In the long - run, the consequences of smoking are far more serious. One of the most terrifying long - term effects is that it can cause cancer. Lung cancer is highly associated with smoking, but it can also increase the risk of other cancers such as throat and bladder cancer. Additionally, smoking accelerates the aging process. The skin of smokers tends to become wrinkled and dull earlier than non - smokers.Take my grandfather as an example. He was a heavy smoker for decades. As he got older, his health deteriorated rapidly. He suffered from constant coughing, shortness of breath, and his once - strong body became frail. Eventually, he passed away due to lung - related diseases. It is clear that smoking is a major threat to our well - being and we should encourage people to stay away from it.4Smoking is extremely harmful to our health, which is an undeniable fact.Physically, smoking has a devastating impact on our organs. For instance, the lungs are the first to bear the brunt. The harmful substances in cigarettes, such as nicotine and tar, can gradually damage the lung tissue, leading to a reduced lung capacity and an increased risk of various lung diseases like chronic bronchitis, emphysema and even lung cancer. Moreover, smoking also affects the heart. It can raise blood pressure and make the blood vessels more likely to be blocked, increasing the risk of heart attacks and strokes.Mentally, smoking often creates a strong dependence. Once a person starts smoking, it's very difficult for them to quit. This is not only a physical addiction but also a psychological one. In many community - based health promotion campaigns, there are numerous cases showing the negative consequences of smoking. Some smokers find that their mental state becomes very unstable when they try to quit smoking, experiencing symptoms like irritability and anxiety. In conclusion, smoking is a bad habit that seriously endangers our health both physically and psychologically.5Smoking is a bad habit that has a significant impact on our health. It is a serious issue that needs to be addressed. For teenagers, smoking can be extremely harmful as their bodies are still in theprocess of development. It can stunt their growth, affect their lung capacity and lead to various respiratory problems at a very young age. Their immune systems are also weakened, making them more prone to getting sick.Among adults, smoking not only affects their own health but also has an influence on their work efficiency and family relationships. Smokers often experience shortness of breath and reduced stamina, which can make it difficult for them to perform well at work. Moreover, the smell of smoke can be unpleasant for family members, causing discomfort and sometimes even leading to conflicts within the family.I once saw a patient in the hospital who was a heavy smoker. He had a very bad cough and was constantly out of breath. His face was pale and he looked extremely weak. The doctor said that his smoking habit had led to serious damage to his lungs and heart. This is just one example of the many negative consequences of smoking. In conclusion, smoking is a dangerous habit that we should avoid for the sake of our health and the well - being of those around us.。

Smoking Is Harmful
Good afternoon, everyone.I’m XXX,and it’s my pleasure to make a speech about smoking.Nowadays more and more people have realized smoking can do harm to people's health. However, some people still enjoy smoking. Why?Because some of them think it is a kind of fashion with great fun and attraction, and feel that smoking can refresh themselves. It is said that about half of people in China smoke. Many young boys and girls have the habit of smoking, though they are middle school students.
Smoking is not a good habit, either for the individual smoker or for society as a whole.
First of all, smoking is not healthy, leading to more deaths than any other preventable cause.Smokers live about14years less than normal people.Babies whose mothers smoked during pregnancy are often born with defects.Smoking also causes cancer, damages organs and weakens the immune system.
In addition, smoking can also harm those nearby,in terms of second-hand smoke.Meanwhile, careless smokers may cause dangerous fires(火灾).
Finally, smoking is a waste of money.Health care expenses raised by the consumption of tobacco creates a social cost on everyone as well. The main chemical in tobacco, nicotine,is addictive,so quitting can be hard.It would have been best to never start smoking at all.For smokers, quitting is still the wisest choice.Excise taxes(消费税)are imposed on tobacco, besides, employment and health is in favor of non-smokers,precisely because smoking is bad for everyone.
Smoking is harmful and it is not only bad for smokers themselves, but also bad for non-smokers.Therefore,I hope all the smokers can give up smoking for themselves and also for the people around them.
That’s all my oral presentation, thank you for your listening.。
