冷铁由镀锡或涂敷防粘膜稀浆的低碳钢或线材加工而成,并且可以加工成各式各样的形状和尺寸。无论是马蹄钉还是直杆钉都可以作为冷铁使用。在铸造生产中,冷铁被用来控制收缩和获得定向凝固。外冷铁放在模子中顶着铸件壁。内冷铁被压进型芯,或模壁,这样它们的一大部分就可以伸进模穴,从而达到预期的效果。

2 Classification

铸造生产中,冷铁对提高冒口的作用和防止铸件产生缩孔、缩松,保证铸件质量起着较为重要的作用,在消失模铸造中完全可以和普通铸造法一样地使用冷铁。外冷铁可在舂砂时放入;内冷铁可在制模时嵌入或粘合在模型地内部,也可将外冷铁延伸到型外,固定在砂型中。内外冷铁安放原则与冷铁种类、规格与普通铸造相似。

四用冷铁加速个别热节的冷却,使整个铸件接近于同时凝固,既可防止或减轻铸件变形,又可提高工艺出品率。

五改善铸件局部的金相组织和力学性能。如细化基体组织,提高铸件表面硬度和耐磨性。

六减轻和防止厚壁铸件中的偏析。

冷铁的作用是加速铸铁件某部分在浇注过程中的冷却速度的。铸铁件因为其结构的需要造成各个部分壁厚不均,有的部位很厚,在冷却的过程中就冷却的慢,壁厚薄的部位就冷却的快,使得同一个铸件各个部位冷却速度不均。造成的结果有可能产生缩孔、或者把壁薄的部位拉裂。为了避免这种现象的产生,造型完成后,就在壁厚厚的部位加放冷铁,用它来吸收铁水的温度,加速这个部位的冷却速度,缩短和其他壁厚薄的部位冷却的时间差。
