本单元通过复习一些旧的职业名词和学习一些新的职业词汇,使用be going to do/want to do/will do/would like to do谈论长大以后打算做什么工作以及为什么想做这份工作2. What are you going to do after graduation?I’d like to be...How come?
What are you going to do after graduation?I’d like to be...Howcome?Because ...

a job in sales can’t quite shake off its unglamorous image or associations with something rather dishonest. This all means recruitment problems for graduate employees. On the other hand, marketing – a less direct way of selling a product – is rather more popular as a career choice, and sounds better at dinner parties.

The major procedures of shipment by sea are provided in the following chart. Arrange them in the correct order.2.Reading ABackground InformationThe purpose of Incoterms is to provide a set of international rules for the interpretation of the most commonly used trade terms in foreign trade. Thus the uncertainties of different interpretations of such terms in different countries can be avoided or at least reduced to a considerable degree. For the ease of understanding, the terms are grouped in four basically different categories: namely starting with the term whereby the seller only makes the goods available to the buyer at the seller’s own premises (the “E” t erm Ex Works); followed by th e second group whereby the seller is called upon to deliver the goods to a carrier appointed by the buyer (the “F” terms including FCA, FAS and FOB); continuing with the “C” terms where the seller has to contract for carriage, but without assuming the risk of loss or damage to the goods or additional costs due to events occurring after the shipment and dispatch (CFR, CIF, CPT and CIP); and finally, the “D” terms whereby the seller has to bear all costs and risks needed to bring the goods to the place of destination (DAF, DES, DEQ, DDU and DDP).Task 1Before reading the passage, see how much you know aboutpacking by answering the following questions.1. What is the basic use of Incoterms? They are used to specify obligations of the buyer and the seller.2. Of all the Incoterms, which one indicates the most extensive responsibilities of the buyer?EXW. The term means the seller only makes the goods available to the buyer at the seller’s own premises. So the buyer must pay for th e goods in accordance with thecontract and bear all the costs and risks of the goods from the time when they have been placed at his disposal by the seller.TextIncotermsIncoterms or international commercial terms are a series of international sales terms widely used throughout the world. They are used to specify obligations of buyer and seller. The use of trade terms greatly simplifies the contract negotiations, and thus saves time and cost. Some of the most commonly used terms are listed as follows:FOB– Free on Board (named loading port)FOB stands for “Free on Board”, and is always used in conjunction with a port of loading. Indicating “FOB port” means that the seller pays for transportation of the goods to the port of shipment, plus loading costs. The buyer pays cost of marine freight transport, insurance, unloading, and transportation from the arrival port to the final destination. The risk of loss or damage to the goods is transferred to the buyer when the goods pass the ship’s r ail.For example, “FOB Vancouver” indicates that the seller will pay for transportation of the goods to the port of Vancouver, andthe cost of loading the goods onto the cargo ship. The buyer pays for all costs beyond that point (including unloading). Resp onsibility for the goods is with the seller until the goods pass the ship’s rail. Once the goods are loaded onto the ship, the buyer assumes risk.《国际贸易术语解释通则》是一系列在世界范围内广泛使用的国际销售术语。

Stew Leonard

(C=Clerk, E=Eric) C: Good morning. Can I help you? E: Morning. I’d like to create a travel itinerary. C: Where would you like to go, sir? E: I have no idea. I am open to suggestions at this point. C: Do you enjoy warm weather, or are you looking forward to cooler vacations? E: A nice temperate climate would be best for me. C: How much money is in your budget for this trip? E: I just got a bonus and can spend about 5 000 yuan in total. C: Then, why don’t you take a look at these brochures that might help you make up your mind? E: These look great! C: Take your time choosing a destination and, when you’ve narrowed it down, I’ll be happy to help you make a reservation.

Dialogue 2
(G=Tour Guide, T=Tourist) G: Here we are. This is the Summer Palace. T: How splendid it is! Could you offer me some introductions, Mr. Zhang? G: Sure. The Summer Palace is the largest and the best preserved of the imperial gardens in China. It covers an area of 290 hectares, and has pavilions, halls, corridors and bridges almost everywhere. T: It’s marvelous! But I think it hard for me to enjoy all the interesting places in a day. G: Yes, so I choose some which are representative of it. The first one is Kunming Lake. T: Kunming Lake? G: Yes, it is not natural but man-made. T: I cannot wait to see it. G: Ha-ha…let’s enjoy it!
