Dear Professor Sun,

I’m a postgraduate of our university. I’m writing to know if it is possible for you to provide me with information regarding image processing and pattern recognition.

First of all, what is Image Processing and what is Pattern Recognition. Secondly, How to learn them carefully. Thirdly, to learn the two subjects well, which books or references should I borrow from the library or buy online.

I would also like to inquire which software must I master relevant to the above two subjects. It would be highly appreciated if you could give me some instructive advices and put forward relevant requirements during my study.
