Romantic love
Hemingway spent six months in hospital when he got badly injured in WWI, when he fell in love with a nurse Agnes von Kurowsky who was seven years older than him. He put this story in his novel A Farewell to Arms.
After the war, he still worked as a reporter. He was sent to Paris and knew Pound, Gertrude Stein, Sherwood Anderson and some other famous writers who encouraged him to write. He also worked as a war reporter in the Spanish Civil War and the WWII.

A journalist instead of a physician. Then he became a novelist. He wanted to join WWI, but was rejected because of eye injury. Later he joined the Red Across ambulance corps and was sent to Italian fronts. In 1918, he was seriously wounded and returned home within the year.

Hemingway learned to hunt, fish and some other skills in the woods and lakes of Northern Michigan. These early experiences with nature instilled逐步灌输a passion for outdoor adventure ,live in remote or isolated areas, hunting and fishing, then become permanent interests.

+ In all his life, he loved tough games, such as
boxing, hunting, deep-sea fishing, bullfight and so on. + He was injured many times. In all the operations, 237 steel fragments were taken out from Hemingway’s body. He also suffered 3 car accidents and 2 air crushes. He was admired as a hero by lots of people and his life style was imitated.
+ In the summer of 1960, Hemingway’s mental
deterioration was noticeable, when he traveled to Spain, he took to his bed for days. + In 1961, Hemingway shot himself with gun in his home
