Here we help with ways to cut your costs.A VOID BIG EVENTS Big sporting events, concerts and exhibitions can increase the cost of accommodation and make it harder to find a room. A standard double room at the Thistle Brighton on the final Friday of the Brighton Comedy Festival (19 Oct.) cost £169.15 at . A week later, the same room cost £118.15.If you can be flexible and want to know dates to avoid—or you’re looking for a big event to pass your time—check out sites such as , which allow you to search for events in the UK by city, date and category.STAYAW AY FROM THE STATION If traveling to your destination by train, you may want to find a good base close to the station, but you could end up paying more for the sake of convenience at the start of your holiday.Don’t be too choosy about the part of town you stay in. Booking two months in advance, the cheapest room at Travelodge’s Central Euston hotel in London for Saturday 22 September was £95.95. A room just a tube journey away at its Covent Garden hotel was £75.75. And at Farringdon, a double room cost just £62.95.LOOK AFTER YOURSELF Really central hotels in cities such as London, Edinburgh and Cardiff can cost a fortune, especially at weekends and during big events. As an alternative consider checking into a self-catering flat with its own kitchen. Often these flats are hidden away on the top floors of city centre buildings. A great example is the historic O’Neill Flat on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, available for £420 for five days in late September, with room for four adults.GET ON A BIKE London’s ‘Boris bikes’have attracted the most attention, but other cities also have similar programmes that let you rent a bicycle and explore at your own pace, saving you on public transport or car parking costs.Among the smaller cities with their own programmes are Newcastle (casual members pay around £1.50 for two hours) and Cardiff (free for up to 30 minutes, or £5 per day). enjoy the process.i once took part in a match held by a tv show. in order to win a prize, i practiced my singing skills everyday and my parents both spared no efforts to help me. upon hearing the news that i didn’t win a ny prize after the match. i burst into tears, thinkin g i was a total fool. to my surprise, my mom told me that she wasso proud of me that i dared to perform on a stage alone. what she did impress me a lot: you are the winner yourself.as far as i am concerned, maybe sometimes we can be a loser when compared to others, but as long as we put our heart into the task, we are sure that we are the winner. it is the process of the match, not the result that shapes us into stronger people.满分作文no.2as the college entrance examination was around the corner, our teachers putforward the advice that students spare some time to have a basketball match to release stress.with teachers and students cheering around the court, the players were, somehow, in tension. upon getting the to get up. however, another player came and gave him a hand, encouraging him. finally the exciting match ended up witha tie, about which all of us felt pleased. nobody is the winner.on a personal note, i hold the view that we should not think the winning position so important that we get it by 不择手段), or we will fall into abyss of chasing winner. therefore, the result concerning who is the winner or loser doesn’t matterr. it was the touching help received from each other that is really of great importance.满分作文no.3generally, those who get a bad resu lt in a match, in people’s opinion, are thelosers. however, as for me, we can be winners even if we lose the match in that there are something more significant than the result.last year, my best friend along with me participated in a running game. webel ieved that we wouldn’t be beaten by anyon e as both of us are good at running. so eager were we to become the number one that we were not as close as before. idecided to beat him and i was sure i would make it. unfortunately, i didn’t feel well on that da y and was too sick to run. therefore, i fell down during the match andcouldn’t stand myself. upon seeing my terrible situation, my best friend ran back to support me and sent me to the hospital. both of us lost the game.but i don’t think we are losers be cause we found our friendship is moreimportant than the result. we are winners of our friendship. from this experience, i know what people should pay attention to is not the result but what they have learnt. 4enjoy the processonce there is a winner, there will be a loser-such is the result of almost everymatch. too often, we can’t decide the result, but it is the process that we participants can enjoy exactly.i once took part in a speech contest, which i viewed very important. devoted to the preparation, i watched various famous videos and spoke in front of the wholeclass several times. however, i finally didn’t become the winner. but i never thought of myself as a loser, for i did put my heart into it and the result was sort of less important. instead, the process was what i really enjoyed.life is like a match, if we pay too much attention to the result, we shall never enjoy the beauty of the process. so why not enjoy the process. only in this way can we enjoy the real life.满分作文no.5the true winnerlast week, our school held a basketball match against another school. near the end of the match, they only had an edge over us. when our captain got the ball, one of them pretended to be knocked into by our captain. our captain tried to help him up and the match was over. they won. although we lost the game, we were all happy in that we went all out.from this match i come to the conclusion that being a winner doesn’t mean gaining while a loser doesn’t mean losing everything. what really counts is the spirit, not the result. as long as we try our best, there is no need in regretting. in reality, a true lose is even more precious than a false winner. had it not been for that match, i couldn’t have learnt the importanceof spirit.to sum up, a true winner is to a match what water to fish. it is not the result but the process that matters. life without spirit is like sailing without compasses, so be a true winner and you will find its importance.【篇二:2013年湖南高考英语全卷文章译文】2013英文阅读译文part Ⅱ language knowledge (45 2013年湖南省高考作文试题分析

We all know that “sticks and stones may break our bones”,but we should also be aware that words can hurt people, too.

I always remembering the time ... (remember)Only he went out angrily did I know I hurt him. (when/after he went out angrily)3.

I won’t forget the day when I am in middle school. (was)I saw his face was turned red. (去掉was)Were I polite to him at that time,he wouldn’t be so sad now. (Had I been polite)It was not until then did I realize I had hurt him deeply. (thatI realized)4.

如果英语表达应当是“I still remembertheyearswhen(duringwhich)1wasinaprimary school……”

In the modern era, technology has become an integral part of our lives, and its influence is felt in every sphere, including education. The year 2013 was a significant milestone in the integration of technology with educational practices in Hunan, China. This essay aims to explore the impact of technology on education, focusing on the developments and changes that took place in 2013.Firstly, the introduction of digital textbooks and e-readers revolutionized the way students accessed educational content. Gone were the days of heavy backpacks filled with textbooks; instead, students could carry an entire library in their electronic devices. This not only made learning more convenient but also more environmentally friendly, as it reduced the need for paper.Secondly, the use of online learning platforms became more prevalent in 2013. These platforms provided students with a wealth of resources, including video lectures, interactive quizzes, and forums for discussion. This enabled students to learn at their own pace and engage with the material in a more interactive way, fostering a deeper understanding of the subject matter.Thirdly, the integration of social media into the classroom was another significant development in 2013. Teachers began to use social media platforms to communicate with students, share resources, and even conduct classes. This helped to bridge the gap between formal education and the digital world, making learning more relatable and engaging for students. However, the integration of technology into education also brought about its own set of challenges. Issues such asdigital divide, where some students had access to technology while others did not, became a concern. Additionally, there were concerns about the potential for distraction, asstudents could easily be tempted to use their devices fornon-academic purposes. In conclusion, 2013 marked a pivotal year in the history of education in Hunan, as technology began to reshape thelearning landscape. While there were challenges, the benefits of technology in enhancing the educational experience were undeniable. As we look back, it is clear that technology has played a crucial role in making education more accessible, interactive, and personalized, paving the way for a more innovative and inclusive learning environment.。

Last week, a football match was held between we Class One and Class two.
The players from both sides are all excellent football players, so the match went on fiercely at first. At last the result is: the winner is Class Two, and we were the loser.
We didn't win the match, but we didn't lose heart. On the one hand, we think that friendship comes first, and a match comes second. On the other hand, since we all tried out best, we had no regret. In our life we may meet many failures, as long as we try our best, there is no need feeling regretful for these failures. What's more, we should analyze the reasons of the failures to get success for the next time.
In a word, success is important, and so is failure, because it's the mother of success.

1. 文章的第二段有这样的表述:“At last the result is: the winner is Class Two, a nd we were the loser”。

2. 第三段第3至第4行有这样一句话存在句法问题,“In our life we may meet many failures, as long as we try our best, there is no need feeling regretful for these failures”。

不难看出,这里其实明显的是两个独立的句子,一个是“In our life we may meet many failures”,另一个是“as long as we try our best, there is no need feeling regretful for these failures”,这两个句子之间既没有任何连词表示其中的关系,也没有用句号隔开。
