简单介绍一下：Jazz Chants 是一种通过节奏来表达语言的方法，它把有节奏的美式英语口语与美国传统的爵士乐节奏联系起来，是一种自然语言的再现。

Jazz Chants所表现的不是一种夸大了的韵文效果，而更像节奏强烈的对话、诗歌。

其节奏、重音、语调和我们平时听到美国人在生活中对话时的节奏、重音和语调是一模一样的。

典型的Jazz Chants有以下特点： 1) 体现自然英语口语的节奏是Jazz Chants成功的关键。

“Jazz Chants的节拍揭示了美式英语和传统的美国爵士乐节奏的内在关联。

”(Gra ham，1998)“Jazz Chants的节奏大大地帮助了记忆” (Hara,2003) ，强烈的节奏和富有趣味的对话让学生们轻而易举地就把一首 chant 记住了，再加上音乐、动作和角色扮演等其他辅助教学手段，教学效果就能事半功倍了。

2) Jazz Chants能激起学生的兴趣，让学生全身心的投入学习。

学生随着 chant 的节奏朗读、对话、吟唱、打节拍和做各种动作，因此可以说Jazz Chants和音乐、歌曲一起让学生愉快的学习英语。

在纽约大学教授二年级学生时，Graham教授还让学生自己撰写chants，从而创造出一个既轻松又有意思的学习环境，让他们在这样的氛围里学习和使用英语。

3)Jazz Chants 是有意义的语言交际活动。

表面上看，Jazz Chants在某种程度上有些像传统的听说法的句型操练，然而它却没有机械性语言操练的先天不足。

Jazz Chants是有意义的、有趣味的交际性对话，它所使用的语言是真实的、实用的。

4)Jazz Chants是互动性的。

尽管Jazz Chants这一教学模式有着大量的重复练习，但这种重复练习始终存在于两人或多人的相互应答之中。

Chants一般都可以以听和练开始，以角色扮演这样的活动结束。

整个学习过程不是那种枯燥的重复操练和死记硬背的过程，而是一种自然的交流互动的过程。
