Lingyin Templebelongs toMajor Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level. The founder of Lingyin Temple is aWest Indian monk, named Huili. Emperor Liangwu of the Southern Dynasties granted a field to expand the temple. Qian Liu of the Wuyue Kingdom in the Five Dynastiesinvited Master Yongming Yanshou to expand the temple and gave the name of New Lingyin Temple. During Jiading period of Emperor Ningzong of Song, Lingyin Temple was praised as one of the “five mountains” of Zen in Jiangnan. During the period of Emperor Shunzhi of Qing Dynasty, the great master of Zen Ju De governed Lingyin and raised funds to reconstruct the temple. The construction of palace hallalone lasted for eighteen years, and its scale is “ranked first in the southeast”. It is the demarcation point of Outer West Lake and North Inner Lake. Located in a high position, with a wide vision, the Broken Bridge is the best place of enjoying snow-covered landscape in the West Lake. Shortly after the auspicious snow, seen from the Precious Stone Hill toward the south, the West Lake is covered with snow and the White Causeway lies across snow willows and peaches. The stone arch face of the Broken Bridge has no shelters. Ice and snow are melted in the sun, showing the mottled bridge railings, while two sides of the bridge are still covered with white snow. The stone bridge is looming, and the white snow in the culvert is sparkling. A contrast is formed on the bridge floor. It seems broken when seen from a certain distance, so it is called the Broken Bridge.The tower soars in the steep hill; a small path leads to the center of the lake. The landscape of hills is moist even if it does not rain; the water surface is in dark blue even if there is no cloud. Mosses on the Broken Bridge are mottled; the tranquil courtyard is filled with fallen flowers. During recall for the scene of appreciating the moon from the west window, a melodious ring comes from the north forest of Jade Emperor Hill.According to the poem “mosses on the Broken Bridge are mottled”, the Broken Bridge was original ly an ancient flat stone bridge filled with mosses. This carries a foreshadowing that Melting Snow at Broken Bridge is a unique landscape on the West Lake.Xixi Wetland ParkXixi National Wetland Park, a rare secondary wetland in city, is located at the west of Hangzhou downtown and only 5 kilometers or less from the West Lake. For the abundant ecological resources, unaffected natural landscape and profound cultural accumulation here, it shared the name of “the Three Xi”of Hangzhou with the West Lake (Chinese name: Xihu) and Xiling (a seal club). It is the first and also the sole national wetland park integrating urban wetland, agricultural wetland and cultural wetland in one at home now.Three dykes and ten scenery spots: Fu (Blessing) Dyke: “Fu Dyke”, a north-south long causeway of 2,300 meters long and 7 meters wide, lies in the west side of Jiangcun Harbor and east side of Shentankou Harbor. It runs through the whole Xixi National Wetland Park and connects six bridges named with “Fu”, which are respectively named with Yuanfu Bridge, Yongfu Bridge, Qingfu Bridge, Xiangfu Bridge, Guangfu Bridge and Quanfu Bridge. The six repetitions of “Fu”(blessing) represent the wish of local residents, exuding immeasurable and intense nostalgia. “Lv Dyke”is an east-west long causeway of 1,600 meters long and 7 meters wide. With fishponds at both sides, the fishpond bases are rich in vegetation with abeautiful ecological environment and landscape. From the Su Causeway the visitors can get the best view of the Three Pools Mirroring the Moon, which was another creation of the poetgovernor Su Tungpo. It is a defining monument of West Lake. There are three water pagodas, floating on the waters, fastened to the bed of the lake. Each pagoda is about 6 feet high, with five openings
