九年级英语第五单元2bBeauty in Common Things. Each different part of China has its own special forms of traditional art. These usually try to show the things that are important in life, such as love, beauty and family. The most common things, from paper to clay to bamboo, are turned into objects of beauty.According to Chinese history, sky lanterns were first used by Zhuge Liang. He sent them out to ask for help when in trouble. Today, skylanterns are used at festivals and other celebrations. They are made of bamboo and covered with paper. When the lanterns are lit, they slowly rise into the air like small hot - air balloons for all to see. They are seen as bright symbols of happiness and good wishes.Paper cutting has been around for over 1,500 years. Paper cutting sounds very easy but it can be difficult to do. The paper, usually red, is folded before it is cut with scissors. The most common pictures are flowers, animals, and things about Chinese history. During the Spring Festival, they are put on windows, doors and walls as symbols of wishes for good luck anda happy new year.Chinese clay art is famous because the clay pieces are so small butthey look very real. The pieces are usually cute children or lively characters from a Chinese fairy tale or historical story. The process of making clay art pieces takes several steps. First, the clay is shaped by hand into the desired form. Then it is allowed to dry. After that, it is fired at a very high temperature. Finally, it is polished and painted. It takes several weeks to complete everything. These small pieces of clay art show the love that all Chinese people have for life and beauty.二、重点单词短语。

九年级英语五单元2b知识点
九年级英语五单元2b知识点Unit 2B - Know Your English Vocabulary BetterEnglish is a widely spoken language, and mastering it is becoming increasingly important in today's global society. As we dive into the topics covered in Unit 2B of the ninth-grade English curriculum, let's explore some important knowledge points that can help us understand the language better.1. Word Origins: Unveiling the RootsUnderstanding the origins of English words can significantly enhance our vocabulary skills. Many English words have roots in Latin, Greek, or other languages. For example, the word "biology" comes from the Greek words "bios" meaning life and "logia" meaning the study of. Exploring the etymology of words can unveil connections among various fields of study and aid in memory retention.2. Synonyms, Antonyms, and Homophones: Expanding Our LexiconExpanding our vocabulary involves learning synonyms, antonyms, and homophones. Synonyms are words that have similar meanings, such as "happy" and "joyful." Antonyms, on the other hand, are words that have opposite meanings, such as "hot" and "cold." Homophones are words that sound alike but have different meanings, such as "hear" and "here." Familiarizing ourselves with these linguistic intricacies can help us communicate more effectively.3. Phrasal Verbs: Unlocking Everyday ConversationsPhrasal verbs are combinations of verbs and prepositions or adverbs that have unique meanings. Examples include "put off," meaning to delay, and "look up," meaning to search for information. Learning these idiomatic expressions is essential for understanding everyday conversations, as phrasal verbs are commonly used in informal English. Practice using phrasal verbs in context to become more fluent and natural in your speech.4. Idioms: Beyond the Literal MeaningsIdioms are phrases or expressions that have figurative meanings, often unrelated to their literal interpretations. For instance, "raining cats and dogs" does not mean that animals are falling from the sky, butrather that it is raining heavily. Idioms add color and depth to our language, making conversations more interesting. Exploring idioms with caution and learning their cultural nuances help us communicate effectively and avoid misunderstandings.5. Reading Comprehension: A Window to Language ProficiencyReading comprehension plays a crucial role in language proficiency. Reading exposes us to different writing styles, vocabulary, and sentence structures. By reading widely, we can expand our knowledge and develop critical thinking skills. To enhance reading comprehension, actively engage with the text by taking notes, summarizing key points, and asking questions. Regular reading practice is key to improving our overall English language skills.6. Grammar: The Blueprint of LanguageGrammar forms the blueprint of any language. Mastering grammar rules is essential for effective communication and clear expression. Knowing the differences between tenses, understanding sentence structure, and using punctuation correctly are foundational aspects of grammar. Regular grammar practice, including exercises and quizzes, helps reinforce our knowledge and application of these essential rules.ConclusionUnit 2B of the ninth-grade English curriculum covers various knowledge points that contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the English language. From word origins to reading comprehension and grammar, each aspect plays a vital role in language proficiency. By continuously expanding our vocabulary, understanding idiomatic expressions, and applying grammar rules, we can enhance our communication skills and become more confident English speakers.。
