3.Calcium carbide
China’s calcium carbide industry is mainly located in areas with lower coal, power and coke prices. Therein, the capacity of calcium carbide in lnner Mongolia, Ningxia and Shanxi exceeded 1 mn tons. In recent years the industrial structure of calcium carbide was adjusted progressively.So far, the enterprises of more than 100000-ton capacity number 10, and the rest are small plants.Calcium carbide products are mainly used for the PVC production, with one half capacity left unused. Developing calcium carbide stove brings about severe pollution to the environment.
4.Fertilizer
Raw material and power structure adjustment has been conducted in the fertilizer industry in recent years. Via advanced coal gasification technology and CHP technology, traditional industry is reconstructed, the industry develops in a swifter speed, the industrial centralization degree improves gradually, and over 20 enterprises have reached proper economic scale (annual output of synthetic ammonia reaching 200000 tons） Coal generated fertilizer accounts for 70% or so of the total capacity, mainly used for the agricultural production., the supply and demand basically keep a balance. Most enterprises use anthracitic range coal of Shanxi jincheng as raw materials in their production.
5.Dimethyl ether
Dimethyl ether is a new coal chemical product developed in recent years. The national DME capacity of 2002 stood at 30000 tons,and that of dimethyl ether of 2005 stood at 300000tons or so, 100000-ton production equipment have been constructed in Sichuan Lutianhua and Shandong Jiutai respectively,ranking top world wide. Dimethyl ether can be used as civil fuel and disel subordinate. The repalcement of diesel with dimethyl ether is being carried out in Shanghai,etc, some enterprises,such as Xin’ao Group, are carrying out the replacement of civil fuel with dimethyl ether.

China’s Methanol producers totaled 187 in 2006.the capacity reached 13444000 ton/year, and the output reached 8747000 ton/year. The import volume of Methanol reached 1127000ton in 2008,the apparent consumption reached 9684000 tons and the year-on-year growth rate of Methanol consumption reached 45%.

Coal chemical industry refers to coal as raw material, through chemical processing of coal into gas, liquid and solid fuels and chemicals. Including coal gasification, liquefaction, carbonization, and the processing of tar and calcium carbide acetylene chemical industry etc.
2.The present situation of coal chemical industry.
The industry of transferring coal into gas, liquid, solid product or semi finished article, and further processing it into a series of chemical industrial products or oil fuel is addressed as coal chemical industry. Technically speaking, coal chemical industry includes coal coking, coal gasification and coal liquefaction.
2.Coke
At present, more than 1mn ton/year coke enterprises in China exceeded 42 in number. In addition to coking equipment assorted for the iron & steel enterprises, most enterprises don’t reach the original economic scale, and the recycling and use of coal tar and coke oven gas is limited. About 80% of China’s coke products are for the use of iron & steel industry, with one quarter or so surplus in capacity. The export volume stood at 12.76 mn ton in 2005.
6.MTO
Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS, Shanxi Xinxing Coal Chemical Technology Ltd, and Luoyang Petrochemical Engineering Corporation Sinopec jointly constructed the 1st industrial DMTO test equipment in the world, whose treatment capacity reached 50 ton/day. The technical indicators of the equipment are: Methanol conversion rate close to 100%, LC olefin （ethylene, propylene, butene） choice>90%

Coal-generated fertilizer is mainly located in coal production place and large agricultural provinces,among which the follwing provinces exceed 2 mn tons in capacity: Shanxi Jiangsu Henan Shandong Hunan
2.Coke
China’s coke industry is mainly located in cooking coal producting areas and big provinces of iron & steel.The provinces whose coke capacity exceed 10 mn ton include：Shanxi Hebei Shandong Henan Liaoning Since the 10th five-year plan,all provinces enhanced efforts in their industrial stucture adjustment.Hence the product structure and industrial centralization degree of the coke industry made some changes.The proportion of Mechanical coke rose from72% of 2000 to 95% of2005.

During the 10th five-year plan period, the annual Methanol capacity increased by over 20%.A batch of tens of thousands ton, and even hundreds of thousands to equipment have been under construction successively. Methanol can be used for the production of dimethyl ether, olefin and oil products. It is predicted that for a time its capacity shall remain swift growth and hence might become a highlight in the development of coal chemical industry.
