The Prall Global Warming
The figure shows the combined land-surface air and sea surface temperatures (degrees Centigrade) 1861 to 1998, relative to the average temperature between 1961 and 1990.The mean global surface temperature has increased by about 0.3 to 0.6°C since the late 19th century and by about 0.2 to 0.3°C over the last 40 years, which is the period with most reliable data. Recent years have been among the warmest since 1860 the period for which instrumental records are available. Warming is evident in both sea surface and land-based surface air temperatures. Urbanization in general and desertification could have contributed only a small fraction of the overall global warming, although urbanization may have been an important influence in some regions. Indirect indicators such as borehole temperatures and glacier shrinkage provide independent support for the observed warming. It should also be noted that the warming has not been globally uniform. The recent warming has been greatest between 40°N and 70°N latitude, though some areas such as the North Atlantic Ocean have cooled in the recent decades.

Mechanism of green house gases: Greenhouse gases are those gases that trap the heat in the atmosphere of the earth. The gases that are responsible for anthropogenic global warming overlap with the gases that make the earth warm in order to support life. The important green house gases include carbon dioxide, methane, water vapor and nitrous oxide. These gases may be needed fro sustenance of life. However, an excess of the gas can cause the temperatures to increase. When the rays of the sun enter the atmosphere of the earth, they reach the ground, oceans, and ice caps of the polar regions. Most of these rays are absorbed as heat, light, and energy. Some of the rays are reflected back to the atmosphere. Some of it escapes into space, while a small percentage gets trapped by the greenhouse gases. The amount of green house gases is directly proportional to the heat present in the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases such as nitrous oxide and nitrogen are processed by the atmosphere. However, this process is slow. As long as these gases are present in the atmosphere, they will trap heat. Global warming due to Human activities: There is a plethora of human activities that cause the release of greenhouse gases. Factories, electricity production, air travel, large-scale farming, and running of vehicles all depend on fossil fuels for their energy. The burning of coal, gasoline, and oil releases large amounts of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Nitrous oxide is the byproduct of farming. This gas may be present in small quantities but beats carbon dioxide in the trapping of heat. Industrial activity releases chemicals and toxins which cause water vapor to develop. This contributes to acid rain and smog. Besides the climate and wildlife species, humans are also affected byanthropogenic global warming. Pollution causes respiratory diseases, asthma, and potential health problems.

Anthropogenic Global Warming: The Facts
The formation of greenhouse gases by humans has caused an environmental problem known as anthropogenic global warming. This causes massive climate change. Anthropological global warming is also known as global climate change or, simply, global warming. The term refers to a rise in the earth’s temperature. The temperature of the earth is going to increase by some degrees due to anthropogenic global warming. This temperature change can have disastrous effects. Anthropogenic global warming is the result of burning fossil fuels that create the greenhouse effect.

• The Advantages of Global Warming
• Fewer cold-related deaths. Many, many more people die from cold than from heat (though the cold related deaths don't get as much media attention). The warmer it gets, the fewer people will die from cold. Moreover, global warming models all predict that the coldest times of the year, the coldest times of the day, and the coldest parts of the world will warm much more than the warmest times of the year, times of the day, and parts of the world. So, the positive effect of warming in the cold areas/times will more than offset, by a huge margin in fact, the negative effect of warming in the warm areas/times.
