I’m honored to have the chance to speak with you and your familythis year.Recently, we learned that our governments, working in concert, have created a system ofworldwide mass surveillance, watching everything we do.Great Britain’s George Orwell warned us of the danger of this kind of information. The typesof collection in the book —microphones and video cameras, TVs that watch us—are nothingcompared to what we have available today. We have sensors in our pockets that track useverywhere we go.Think about what this means for the privacy of the average person. A child born today willgrow up with no conception of privacy at all. They’ll never know what it means to have aprivate moment to themselves—an unrecorded, unanalyzed thought. And that’s a problem, because privacy matters. Privacy is what allows us to determine who we are and who we wantto be.The conversation occurring today will determine the amount of trust we can place both inthe technology that surrounds us and the government that regulates it. Together, we can find abetter balance, end mass surveillance and remind thegovernment that if it really wants toknow how we feel, asking is always cheaper than spying. For everyone out there listening, thank you, and Merry Christmas.。

2021年高考英语8月考前冲破 阅读明白得能力 社会生活 斯诺登即使坐牢也愿意重返美国素材

斯诺登即便坐牢也情愿重返美国Edward Snowden may have recently received a three-year e xtension of his stay in Russia, but the former National Security Agency contractor says in a new interview with WIRED magazine that he still clings to hope of returning home to the United States, even if it means living behind bars.爱德华·斯诺登可能已取得俄罗斯为期三年的居留许可。

但是,这位前美国国家平安局职工在新一期《连线》杂志采访时表示,即便要蒙受牢狱之苦,也情愿重返美国。

"I told the government I'd volunteer for prison, as long as it served the right purpose," Snowden said the article released Wednesday. "I care more about the country than what happens to me. But we can't allow the law to become a political weapon or agree to scare people away from standing up for their rights, no matter how good the deal. I'm not going to be part of that."Described by WIRED as "the most wanted man in the world," Snowden is being sought for leaking top-secret documents that unveiled widespread surveillance programs overseen by the federal government. He currently is hiding out in an undisclosed community in Russia, where he says he goes mostly unrecognized. The magazine includes numerous photographs of Snowden, inc luding a previously unseen one of him with his former boss Michael Hayden, a past director of both the NSA a nd CIA. Other photos show Snowden in silhouette in a hotel room, or on a couch looking fatigued. In another photo, Snowden wears a T-shirt with the word "SECURITY" on the back. The one expected to draw criticism, however, is the magazine cover showing Snowden, whom many Americans consider a traitor, wrapped in an American flag."He thought very carefully about that moment," WIRED editor-in-chief Scott Dadich, who wrote about the photo shoot for the magazine, told TODAY's Willie Geist. "He s aid, 'I love my country. I feel like a patriot. And this is an important thing for me.' And it was at that moment that we knew that we had the cover."In the WIRED article, Snowden disputed government claims that he lifted 1.7 million documents, calling the figure inflated. He also said he left a trail of digital bread crumbs so that investigators would know which documents he copied and took and which ones he only "touched."His intent was to act as a whistleblower, not as a spy for a foreign government, he told the magazine. Government auditors, however, failed to catch on to any of the clues he left behind."I figured they would have a hard time," he said. "I didn't figure they would be completely incapable."。

The program also offers "near real-time, complete access to the additional target country's GSM networks," according to the document leaked by Snowden.Another classified document, provided by Snowden, provides a NSA Special Source Operations' description of MYSTIC as a "program for embedded collection systems overtly installed on target networks predominantly for collection and processing of wireless/mobile communications networks."There is no indication whether MYSTIC also intercepts phone calls and voice data in the Philippines, but it does pull text messaging data. The Intercept sa id it asked NSA to comment, but it only said it does not collect foreign intelligence in an arbitrary and unconstrained way as it follows protocols to p rotect people's privacy. Philippine laws prohibit wire tapping and related violations not authorized by all parties concerned.1。

On June 11,2013, a day to look whether the NSA Leaker has the quipster leak. People do seem maybe a little bit more interesting in Snowden personally, what some, whether is it. Hero or Villain? I personally don‘t especially care. This case is every bit seraphic(纯洁的) and every bit is tragic, it‘s a case that people not to be screaming about that. It seems to quietly be fading into the distance. And a day some schools cross the country close for summer and some close for ever. The trend in large scale close of public schools is happening all across America. It goes the public needs to decide whether these programs in policies are right or wrong. Since giving that now famous interview to the Guardian Newspaper(卫报) in a Hong Kong hotel.
