population的用法【满分点拨】
population人口，不可数名词
(1)对人口的数量进行提问时，常用what，而不用how much。

提问人口有多少时，用“What is the population of…？”如：
What is the population of China？中国有多少人口？
(2)population作主语时，强调其中的“成员或人”时谓语用复数形式；强调人口的整体时，谓语用单数形式。

如： The population of China is the largest in the world now.现在中国是世界上人口最多的国家。

(3)population和分数、百分数一起构成短语做主语时，谓语要用复数形式。

如：
80% of the population in China are farmers.中国百分之八十的人口是农民。

(4)有形容词修饰时，其前可用a；表示人口的“多/少”
用large/small。

如：
India has a large population.印度人
口众多。

句型1＝句型2 ，以上两个句型是使用比较级表达最高级的用法，可以与最高级互换。

如：
Tom is taller than any other student in my class.(Tom 属于本班学生)
＝ Tom is taller than the other students in my class.
＝ Tom is the tallest student in my class.
【归纳拓展】在比较级结构中any other 和any 所表达的比较范围不同。

被比较对象A属于比较范围时，使用句型1和2 来表达(需要使用any other); 如果A 不属于比较范围，则需要使用any。

如：
China is larger than any country in Africa.(中国不属于非洲，所以不能加other )
