➢He is a famous singer.➢The boys who are playing the guitar are my cousins.➢Life is full of the unexpected.➢ A sad movie makes me cry.➢Their mother cooks breakfast for them every morning.2.

A.How did the judge solve the student’s problem?B.(The judge solved the problem) By making the restaurant owner hear the sound of thefalling coins.2) 用where/when提问,要以介词in/ on/ at等开头A.Where did the student live?B.In a small room near a restaurantA When did Eppie Lederer begin to write an advice column for the Chicago Sun Times?B In 1955. (or: After she won a contest.)3)用how many提问,要注意数字前是否有限定词more than/ at least/about等。

Most Asians immigrate because they believe that they can give their children a better education in the west. In Asia, especially in China, Japan and Korea, it is difficult to go to university. Students must first pass the strict national examination. However, in Canada and the United States, it is easy to go to university, and anyone who wants to go can go. As a result, Asian parents decide to leave their countries so that their children can go to university. The problem is that when Asians arrive, they discover that finding a job and making money are more difficult in the west. So these children become "satellite kids", and most of their parents do not know how sad it is to be a "satellite kid".Only until now are Canadians and Americans discovering the "satellite kids" problem. Because these children do not speak English and because their parents are not there to take care of them, they are often absent from school. To be a "satellite kid" means growing up in such a country, where you know you are different and you can't make friends because you do not speak English well. Also, it means growing up alone, because your parents are not there.(1)"Satellite kids" refer to (指代) the Asian kids .A. without parentsB. living abroad aloneC. with university educationD. not speaking English(2)Some Asian immigrant children become "satellite kids" because their parents .A. want to leave their own countryB. want them to go to universityC. return to their countries to workD. want them to depend on themselves(3)The following problems of "satellites kids" are right except .A. they grow up aloneB. they don't often go to schoolC. they can make friends easilyD. their parents can not look after them(4)What is the main idea of the passage?A. What do you see when you look at abstract (抽象的)art? Can you understand it? Does it look like anything?Abstract art became popular in the early 20th century. Artists did not want to paint, draw, or sculpt things exactly like they looked. They didn't want their art to be realistic(现实的). They were more interested in basic shapes and colours.Picasso is probably the most famous of these artists. He painted and drew in many, many styles. Sometimes he used a lot of blue colours (his "blue period"). Later, he used more red and pink colours (his "rose period"). Many of his other paintings are called "cubist (立体派的)" because they are made of painted squares. After a long time, Picasso's paintings became more and more abstract. He painted people and things using strange shapes. His work was so strange that many of his workmates didn't understand it.Kandinsky, another famous artist, used lines, shapes, and patterns to paint his subjects. His paintings also used strong colours to express feelings. Other artists like the surrealists (超现实主义画家),were interested in subconsciousness (潜意识). Painters like Breton and Magritte used many symbols in their work. The meaning or subject of their work wasn't always clear. Dali, another surrealist artist, painted pictures that looked like dreams. There are still many abstract artists around the world. That's the way many artists prefer. They want each person to look at art and find their own meaning in it.(1)Which would be most like abstract art?A. A painting of a house.B. A sculpture of a car.C. A drawing of two people in a coffee house.D. A red and blue painting, with no clear subject.(2)What happened to Picasso's work after a long time?A. It became more abstract.B. Mr. Chen was puzzled(闲惑的)and a little suspicious(怀疑的). He sat in the office and studied a letter apparently(看似)from Mrs. Wang, the mother of one of the pupils in his class. There was something about it which worried him."I don't understand," he said to himself. He shook his head as he circled four mistakes in the letter. "Mrs. Wang is an educated woman. She wouldn't make mistakes like these even if she did write the letter in a hurry. "Mr. Chen took out his class register(名册)and said to himself,"Yesterday was Thursday. Let me see. Ah, yes. I thought so. David was absent on Thursday last week and the week before. Hm. Why is he so often absent on Thursdays? Was he really ill yesterday? Could it be a coincidence(巧合)?”Mr. Chen stared at the register as if the answers to his questions were hidden in it somewhere. Then he took out a copy of the timetable(课程表)for his class."I wonder." he told to himself. "I wonder if his absence has anything to do with one of these lessons."Mr. Chen looked at the subjects for Thursday: Mathematics, English, P. E. He thought about P. E. He knew that the pupils had P. E. twice a week: once on Monday, when they usually played games on the school field, and once on Thursday, when they did exercises in the gym.Mr. Chen glanced round the office to find Mr. Long, the rather strict P. They thought about it for a while."David is a good athlete(运动员)," Mr. Long finally said, "but he's afraid of heights. I was hard on him once because he wouldn't climb more than a couple of meters up the rope. Do you think that's why he's been absent recently?""Yes, I think so," Mr. Chen said. "I'm going to talk to him this afternoon before he goes home.""Well, I've got a suggestion to make," said Mr. Long. "If he's scared of heights, he'd better come and see me after school.
