Lesson Type Reading
The Analysis of Teaching Material:
This unit is to introduce to us the importance of wildlife protection. The reading passage is the center of this unit. It can be divied into 3 parts, first part gives us the reasons why we need wildlife protection, second part shows us a good example of wildlife protection, and the third part teaches us how to protect wildlife in our daily life. From the passage, what student should master is not only the grammar or language point, but also the importance of wildlife protection.
The Analysis of Students:
Being a senior high school students, they have the basic abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing, but they still need many opportunities to practice what they have learned, to express their ideas, feelings, and experience and to develop their autonomous learning ability and cooperative learning ability.
Teaching Goals:
1.Knowledge aims:
a. Enable the students to master the words, phrases and sentence patterns.
b. Enable the students to know why we need wildlife protection.
2.Ability aims:
a. Enable the students to grasp the main idea of the passage, to scan for the needed information
and to get the details.
b. Improve the students’ ability of organizing and expressing their ideas in english.
3.Emotional aims:
a. Help the students understand the importance of wildlife protection and make them be active
in helping wildlife.
b. Develop the students’ sense of cooperative learning.
Teaching Important Point:
1. To help the students get a general idea of the passage, and some detailed information and
language points as well.
2. To help the students understand why we need wildlife protection and the importance of wildlife protection.
Teaching Difficult Point:
1.To help students use their own words to express their idea.
2. To help student get more information about endangered animals.
Teaching Methods:
1. Individual work, pair work, group work.
2. Role-play method, task-based method.
3. Skimming method.
Teaching Aids: Some pictures, multimedia, blackboard.
Teaching Procedures:
Step I. Lead-in and Warming up
Task1. Discuss the following questions.
(1) Have you ever seen The TV programme “Animals’ World” hosted by Zhao Gongxiang ?
(2) What animals have you seen in this program?
(3) What will happen if their habitat is threatened or they can not find enough food when
they live in field?
T: The TV programme “Animals’ World” hosted by Zhao Gongxiang enjoy great popularity, do you remember what animal have you seen in this programme?
S: elephant, baboon, puma, leopard, snake, hippo.....
T: Please image, what will happen if their habitat is threatened or they can not find enough food when they live in field?
S: They will die and the number will decrease rapidly.
T: Yes, it is a real cruel situation for them, right? How can we do to help these animals?
Look at the report from book, maybe we can learn some methods.
Task2. Look at the chart from book and discuss the following questions.
(1) What troubles do these wild animals face according the report?
(2) How can these animal get rid of their dangerous situation?
(3)What other endangered animals do you know, and why are they in danger of
disappearing?
Step II. Pre-reading
Task3. Discuss the following questions in pairs.
(1) What the passage is going to tell us according to the tittle and the picture?
(2) Do you know what is WWF?

Task4. Skim the whole passage with the following questions.
(1) What is the main idea of the passage?
A: It is about some protection of wildlife.
B: It is about a journey of a fly chair.
C: It is about Daisy’ wonderful experience with some animals.
(2) What three places did Daisy go? And what three animal did she meet?
